The amount of salty BioWare loyalists refusing to see any negative evidence in the first replies is amusing. But yeah, seems like Montreal took a hit. We shall know soon. Not much point in throwing around conjecture about the branch. Fact is though that this all started from an actual declaration of this being the case as a matter of fact, rather than an actual guess based on solid evidence, which was just job listings. That isn't really evidence of anything at all. If it was, I'd think the branch of the company I work for would be in trouble because we haven't had postings for open positions for roughly half the year. Just out of curiosity, which company do you work for?

Shameful self-promotion by Kotoku here... If their reporting was even halfway professional they wouldn't have to try so desperately to defend it... lowers my opinion of them even further. I really wish the videogame reporting industry would clean up its act.... garbage, garbage, and more garbage ruining the industry. They never will. Gaming press has been corrupt and lacked any journalistic integrity and ethicality from the very start. There was never any improvement since then, nor there will be especially today when clickbait titles and outrageous claims are a norm for online media to remain relevant. It is a disgusting medium that can only get worse, not better.

It would help if you would provide evidence, instead of being obnoxiously snarky. But then again, no such evidence exists, so here we are. And where's your evidence? How reliable are you? Oh, yes. Exactly. You aren't. Just another problematic MEA lover who can't deal with any negative stuff about it, and since there's so many, you go nuts. Seen that before. Not anything new.Oh my! Just another problematic MEA hater. Seen that before. Not anything new.

You're the one with the claim Bioware Montreal is shut down and no more. Burden of evidence is on you. Second of of all, hell yeah I have evidence. Just like someone before me pointed out, Bioware Montreal devs are still releasing patches for the game, releasing minor DLC's for free, having weekly live Twitch streams and are teasing DLC's. A dead company doesn't do this. Where's your evidence? Patches is routine. Deus Ex MD got those and also got canned. MP dlc? Holy fuck, their biggest cash grab now and you think they would abandon that? No. Seriously, where's your evidence? Who are you again? Why should I listen to a random blind BioWare fanatic than actual people who know how the industry works and all the other evidences you can see without them? Lmao.

This took me just minutes of research. MINUTES! Start doing some homework for a change, otherwise I'm done arguing with you.

Nope. Still broadcasting the weekly Twitch stream from there.
Hey, there's an idea; why don't you either ask them on stream next week or, even better, ask someone from BioWare on Twitch?

And considering they were cut from the game, like all the other story elements for a sequel, it was already there, still got canned. Which is what might happen here again. What? When did I say BioWare was going to be done for? What? Just... what? Can't take the pressure then goodbye.

This is old speculation from Reddit by the Kotaku writer...its been out a while. Oh, and did he tell you he has a book coming out that talks about stuff like this...be sure to pick up a copy

If OP were serious about it he would have looked in the Montreal office for the developer that has a game release later in the year. They're the ones doing the hiring right now, and since their open job queue isn't as long as I would have thought I suspect BioWare is, indeed, providing support to Motive for SWBF2. As for the author, you're right. He's stirring up controversy to sell his own product. It's why I ignore his shenanigans.

Until Bioware or EA announces something it is all speculation, rumour and innuendo. I am going to Montreal in August so perhaps I can pop by the office and gather some intel

Whether you like the game or not it has some glaring issues, some which could've been solved with a few more months of development and some that can never be solved. I doubt Bioware Montreal is shut down, but i don't think a sequel is in production as of right now, and that is telling enough.

Yes, he did explain it, I read the Reddit post when it came out. I can't wait for an entire book based on "unnamed sources". I'm sure he has a window into the aftermath...why did the game appear to release unpolished, why all the movement at BioWare Montreal, what the framework for the timeline of events leading to the game's issues - there are probably plenty of low-to- middle tier managers that were willing to spill about some juicy stuff that happened at that time. What he doesnt have as a source is anyone the level of Mike Gamble, Aaron Flynn, Mac Walters, etc that could actually provide context for events and for the future of franchise, if we'll get SP DLC, if so how much SP DLC, if there will be a sequel...list goes on. He's attempting to do an autopsy without the actual body...just those that may have seen it.

I'm not sticking my head in the sand...but I'm just not buying everything he's selling either. We're still getting patches, which cost money, post-release, they are still doing MP events and, primarily, we're only 3 months past release which means we're not even in the window yet for SP DLC. Could ME:A be completely FUBAR? Sure, EA won't hesitate to pull funding from a problematic title. I'm just not willing to dive into a rabbit hole of speculation just yet until more things are confirmed. The only thing we know for certain about Montreal is peeps from BioWare got moved to work on Battlefront II.

Why can't they focus on providing us with articles that actually give us some useful information about the games and updating that information? I keep looking for stuff and running into huge amounts of misinformation on basic gameplay or obsolete information (due to later bug fixes)... All in articles and videos made by so-called professional reporters on the games) and they never bother to link to a correction (if they ever even bother to make a correction). As a result, they contribute to the problem as people try to do things the way they recommended to do them during the early days the game was out and just wind up getting screwed over by their advice. Rather than putting so much energy in spreading rumors... why don't they buckle down and give the public something useful about playing the games themselves or at least correct what they must know by now they got wrong in their original videos that tried giving advice on how to play the game before they even really knew how to play the game themselves.

Why yes he did, he took a whole paragraph to explain that during his last article. Now if that was someone trying to say that BioWare and Mass Effect weren't in trouble I bet that would be the first thing people would latch onto as proof they can't be trusted. I was agreeing with you. I just indicating the people proclaiming BioWare dead would have used that paragraph he talked about his book as a perfectly good reason to ignore him, but it isn't a good reason for us to take issue with what is being said.

Seriously guys, this is the exact same topic about that article we've had every week since Kotaku posted it. Why you dun keep falling for bait? Why don't the mods don't just forcibly combine all his threads into one?
