Maker yes! It's time for us to finally get a female Dwarf companion and I can't think of anyone more suited for that honor than Lace Harding!

Of the various npcs I think she's the best option for becoming a companion.

I LOVED Harding, they gave her such a neat personality! I wouldn't of minded a Dagna romance either, she's too cute, but she's taken, right? I definitely could see Harding in a romance though. Actually I'd want to see it.

Yes. Also have Sigrun and another dwarf and the player can have the dwarfiest group around hahahaha.
Yes. I wouldn't mind having her as a companion in the next game. If not, she could play the same role, just with more content.

She fits very well into the role she plays in Inquisition, ie. the Little Miss Exposition you meet when entering every new region. But there's not a lot to her character. Compare her to Varric, who fills the same role (a dwarven archer rogue) but has a rich background of family issues and a tragic love affair to mine for quests and dialogue. Plus, he is Thedas' bestselling author. Harding ... used to herd sheep.

If Lace Harding is not romancable, I humbly request her sheep be a romance option because they are both about the same height ... However, Scout Harding is much cuter than her sheep and has a much better personality too. Personality goes a long way ...

That pint sized sheep hearder commanded a lot of respect! Gauranteed, there should be a more in depth history to her but with her cute little personality it shouldn't be too difficult. She was a wasted opportunity...she and Knight Captain Rylen and I think I'll add Fairbanks to that list. Coming from a family of sheep hearders, Lace Harding always knew she was bound for greater things. She never wanted to settle in life playing the role of the wife of a sheep header, like her mother did. Lace grew up watching her mother slowly lose every ounce creativity and ambition she possessed, to adopt the tame, riskless postion of a sheephearders wife. Lace wanted more and at a young age began teaching herself the skill of archery, something her father never would've approved of and her older brother would've envied. You see her brother fancied himself the greatest archer in the valley and Lace had to keep her talents under wraps because if her brother found out, he'd be very upset and would've gone straight to their father and their father would've taken her bow away. Time passes, she grows better and better with her bow, in fact she could easily win the region's archery contest if she felt inclined to do so, but she knows the concequences and her common sense, as always, overrules her pride and ego. Anyhow, word of that season's archery contest arrives and her brother enters knowing he's the best around and the day of the competition, he makes a strong showing. He takes down competitor after competitor until it's just him and the son of the region's newly appointed Ban. It's a close contest, her brother wins by a sliver but the Ban's son contests the win. He damands another round, (you see, the winner of the competition is promised a hefty sum of money from the Ban, and the Ban thought that the competition would be fixed.) They go for another round and again Lace's brother wins, this time the son cry's foul and accuses the brother of cheating, calls for the guards to arrest Lace's brother, Lace steps in, challenges the son herself. Assuming it's a joke the son takes her up on the challenge. He shoots first, hits the bullseye, but not quite the center, Lace, on the otherhand nails it, dead center, then for good measure takes two trick shots (A back jump shot and blind folded) again she hits dead center. The crowd is in awe and the son knows he can't contest her win, so the purse is handed over. On the way home, her father and brother are both silent, neither of them seem very pleased, but then a small group of bandits overtake the family, she and her brother take down most of them (Lace ends up taking a shot to the jaw that opens up a lengthy cut) and the last one ends up with Lace's arrow through his hand and he ends up being the Ban's son. Now this could've been a bad thing, but some of the King's men had witnessed the entire altercation and the Ban's son was put into custody. The way she and her brother defended the family back to back, Lace thought her father would go lighter on her, but she was wrong, if anything he was more upset because he didn't want his daughter risking her life fighting off bandits, so he not only took away her bow, he informed her he'd be picking her out a future husband and he intended her to be married within the month. Two weeks into her father's mission of picking her out a husband, the rift opens and Lace ends up secretly running off and joining the Inqisition. Anyway, yeah...it COULD go something like that ... She has a daddy chosen suiter looking for his bride and also has a vengeful Ban's son hot on her trail...stuff the next protagonist can help her work out while they are entering a romance.

Still, why not, Josephine was also this kind of fluffy romance, and many people liked it (myself included). Besides, she would balance the more complex companions, since not everyone's into tears and drama.

There's no reason for her father to disapprove of her learning archery, its a useful skill for hunting game and protecting the sheep from wolves, and both Ferelden and Orzammer have women in their armies so there's no reason to expect him to object for gender reasons. I agree that they could fill in her background with lots of interesting details. Furthmore by the time DA4 comes around she'll have spent years working in the inquisition, most of which unseen by the inquisitor, so she would have plenty to say. For example, many of her colleagues turned out to be spies for the Qun or Fen'harel, she could have a whole companion quest about confronting an old friend/comrade at arms about their betrayal etc.

I pointed this out a while ago on BSN;
Because Dwarves don't (normally) dream and it requires unusual circumstances to send them into the Fade, then Dwarves would be exceptionally useful secret-keepers when going up against Solas and other Dreamers, as they cannot remote view their dreams to learn information.
This would make Scout Harding a very useful asset and someone that the (possibly disbanded) Inquisition might continue to use as an agent. Since she's present during the final scene of Trespasser when they're discussing plans to head to Tevinter, that might indicate the writers intend her to have a role in the next game, possibly as an agent or liason to the south?

I would like to have her as a romance option, if she is a companion even better.
I don't know why her "bland" background is a problem, so she won't need me to help her with any old issues that she apparently can't handle herself, o no.....
If anything I think that is what make her stand out more, everybody else is apparently unable to do anything without the MC and the fact that she is good enough that even Leliana recognise it is good for me. Add that she has no formal training that we know of.

If it was played through that the Inquisition was dissolved, I wondered what would keep her from going back to her family , that's all. But I think her spunky personality shouldn't be too hard to come up with a back story for.....actually, isn't the dwarven tradition that the child takes on the occupation of the same sex parent? So if the mother is the wife of a sheephearder, the daughter would be the same? Also, surface dwarves have taken on some of the traditions of humans, so it could be that as a prospective sheephearders wife, Lace could be expected to tend more to the household than actually hearding the sheep....just a thought.

I thought there was mention that Leliana was training Harding amongst others to take her place as spymaster. I honestly thought Trespasser would have backed up the flirting with her. Instead, it's like an ME2 romance in ME3: it's acknowledged briefly by dialogue but it teases the players by its sparcity.
I'm thinking they have more plans for her in the next game but I still wonder if the reason why they are holding her back is because Liara's voice actress is playing as her and they want to avoid another "overexposed character you're supposed to love". ...I'll go take the tin foil hat off now.
