That was Dagna, the arcane specialist working in the Undercroft. Oh. So sorry. Got the two lovely dwarves mixed up. That's ok, Dagna's just as awesome as Harding. I Dagna too!

But...wasn't she married to Sera by the end of Trespasser (if the Inquisitor never romanced Sera)? They had their very own happy ending. That was Dagna, the arcane specialist working in the Undercroft. To be fair, Sera and Harding getting together makes a lot more sense than Sera and Dagna getting together.

Just think, the two of them traveling together, causing all sorts of mischief. They'd be another couple where a few fans who romanced either one might go, "NOOOOOOO!!!!"

I'm not sure why Harding became such a fan-favorite. She was likable enough. My first thought, though, was, "Do we have no other scouts? How does she teleport across Thedas?" It really made the ridiculous continent-hopping that the PC does more glaring, for me.
By the time JoH and Trespasser rolled around, it was clear that BioWare had heard the fans. Harding had become big-time. She now had a first name, Maryden wrote a song about her, and she was part of the ongoing search for Solas. I'd not be surprised if she reappeared as a companion in DA4. It seemed implied to me that she was one of those whom Leliana was grooming as a potential successor; so it could be possible we see her in a support role, as with Leliana.
Either way, I don't think we've seen the last of her. BioWare seems to have caught the bug. I just hope they don't get carried away with it. Sometimes writers make bad choices with their favorites, and I'd hate to see Harding become someone's "pet character". We shall see, I guess. It's way too early to get concerned about pet status, when she hasn't made the leap from minor NPC, yet.

Her official job within the Inquisition is Lead Scout, hence the reason why she's always present whenever we enter a new location, as she was the one to lead the advanced scouting parties to investigate the area and secure a foothold for the Inquisition.

I can tell myself things like this now, or just ignore minor annoyances, but it doesn't change my initial reaction. They overdid it a bit with Harding being omnipresent. I recall that when I first opened the Western Approach via the War Table, it was done via Cullen's soldiers. The letter led me to believe they'd be greeting me once I arrived. Nope, just Harding, again. (We do eventually meet Cullen's 2nd, at least.) Still, if I had to choose, I suppose I'd take Harding over "Generic NPC Scout X" at each location. What I'd have preferred was three or four scouts who maybe weren't as bubbly and chatty, but also were still a cut above "completely generic". This might sound demanding, but all it would take is running them through the CC and assigning a specific VA for each. Not much extra work. Instead, we get a single NPC with whom we can flirt. 🙄 Thanks, guys. I need to flirt with everyone and everything.
I don't want this post to end negatively, so I'm going to remind everyone that I do like Harding. I just see this as a part of the game in which I'd have gone in a slightly different direction. I may feel very differently if the character develops into something special. Right now, she's just a scout with a syrupy sweet voice. If she gets a lot more content and development (and corresponding diversity in VA work), I'm sure I'll embrace her more fully.

I'd love it if they did, but if there's a problem with size difference for the CGI, they would probably have to limit her to a dwarf romance or come out with a dwarf/human hybrid to romance. Watching the Cullen Qunari romance gave an indication of how tricky it can get with the programming. (I still get a kick out of him motorboating her , it's awesome.) Also I've come to the conclusion IF they were to give Harding a hobby or past time, I want to see her mud wrestling nugs for sport and competition. All those years wrestling sheep for shaves and branding probably has given her great nug wresting abilities...she can also help with Leliana's pets! Lets be fair, if the setting is Tevinter and we are only getting a new PC ... I don't see us getting access to playing Qunari. Even though I know they can be non-citizens or slaves within that country, there are so many reasons it would be weird from a story telling standpoint I can't really see it happening (especially if we are in direct conflict with the Qun during the game). Even Dwarves might be pushing it in Tevinter, since it is such an inherently Human Centric society. Its one of those "we're allowing players to play this race, solely because they want to be able to play it ... not necessarily because it actually makes sense" sort of things Well whatever, if the Inquisitor comes back I don't see a problem with her being romanced by a Qunari, she openly flirted with them in DA:I so it would be strange if she suddenly was unavailable. The size shouldn't be too much of an issue at a game-play perspective, just if kissing is needed have the Qunari lift her up. I always thought of Tevinter as 'Mage' centric, not necessarily 'human' centric, but oh well. About dwarves in Tevinter, I would think they may have some kind of society because the mages would need someone to create lyrium enchantments and since it doesn't seem like they want to have tranquils around, they would have dwarves, and probably treat them quite well because dwarves would be their lyrium providers and they have a high demand for lyrium in Tevinter.

I just realised that if we're moving to Tevinter, there's higher chance for Kal-Sharok dwarf. Sorry Harding, but now I really want this to happen

Ok you got me there, if they had had more meetings with Knight Captain Rylen, instead of Harding, I WOULD have been a lot happier...and if it came down to Harding or Rylen as party member/companion/romanceable character I'd go Rylen every time. Rylen's personality was great, I loved talking to him and was dissappointed he didn't appear more often.

You're right, perhaps Human-centric is not necessarily the right term for it, but I do stand by it to a point. Tevinter is innately Mage-Centric, and as a result those that use magic are inherently the ones who hold the status and power within. Even then its not merely that simple. Elves may be somewhat better off now then they were in the past (where they were considered a Slave Race almost exclusively), but even now the highest they can hope for socially is to be a Mage amongst the Laetan class. High Blooded Human Mages amongst the Altus class are those that hold all the power within society. The relationship with Dwarves of Kal-Sharok in Tevinter is a professional one, the public condemning of Dwarven slaves is an extension of this. While there may be those that have decided to take up permanent residents within Tevinter and even pursue citizenship, the inability of Dwarves ever being Mages would prove a massive hindrance to their social performance. Remember what Dorian said "The non-mage populations of Tevinter are placated by the belief that one of their offspring may be born with Magic, and while realistically even if it were to occur their social standing would only be at best being among the Laetans, it keeps the masses of Tevinter compliant nonetheless". Dwaven citizens of Tevinter do not have that option, and while some of them may succeed quite well as Enchantment merchants, there are only so many of them that can. Publically speaking, the massive majority of Dwarves in Tevinter find themselves in the position of having little ability to move upwards and only down (and even then there is an artificial floor built in to how far they can drop). I guess what I'm saying is ... even more so than in the South, a Dwarf in Tevinter is the ultimate outsider, useful to those who hold sway in Tevinter due to their access to Lyrium and ability to work with it (and even then powerful Mages can use Blood Magic as an alternative). While they may not come with the inherent stigma of the Qunari slave/citizen within Tevinter, in a strange way their inability to become a slave has denied them even the ability to have a single shared experience with every other race within the country. It creates this situation where they are inherently disconnected with every single social class amongst the Tevinter population simultaneously, with the exception of perhaps the Merchant Soporati caste (and even then since they would rarely be in direct economic competition and failure in the marketdoes not result in the same slave outcome, perhaps not even them). Unless Bioware is intending to have Kal-Sharok actively involving themselves in the issues of a foreign power, Dwarven players who felt disconnected from the Human-centric events of DA:O and DA:I can only expect things to get much much worse in a country like Tevinter. That's why I say even Dwarves might be "Pushing It".

Not really. There are far more interesting characters/possible companions than Scout Harding, in my opinion. I liked her in DAI and especially the Jaws of Hakkon DLC, but I don't know how interesting companion she would be. Her background is a little bland, like others have already pointed out.

If the dwarves decided to stop doing business with Tevinter because they're not happy about how they're being treated, Tevinter would be screwed. They need their lyrium and enchantments, don't they...So what happens if a sub-race of dwarf sympathetic human/dwarf hybrids forms...and what if some of those hybrids become able to wield magic and yet themselves remain mildly magic resistent?I don't know under the condition you just stated, I think it would be remiss of BioWare to exclude something like a Tevinter dwarf revolt as a possiblity.

That would depend on whether Dwarves would even create children with other races, and even then we don't know what the dominant genes would be (Elf/Human hybrids lose almost all of their psychical distinctions as elves). If Kal-Sharok is involved in a Tevinter story then yeah there is a possibility that dwarves would have something to do if they were playable, but if you're talking a revolt from either Dwarven Citizens of Tevinter or Kal-Sharok that might be problematic. Not only would it inherently place them in direct opposition of Tevinter, but if its the prior its doing so for the sake of a tiny minority of the Population that has little in common with the rest, and if its the latter it places Kal-Sharok in a potentially precarious position. See if Kal-Sharok's economy is anything like Orzimmar's, they will be entirely dependent on their Lyrium trade. They need the revenue generated from the sale and processing of Lyrium, they as a civilization can no longer survive without it. Tevinter may depend on lyrium, but they don't require it to survive. This places the remaining two Dwarven Kingdoms in an unbelievably nasty position if they wanted to alter trade deals. I'm not saying Dwarves can't be playable if the setting is Tevinter, but if they and Qunari weren't options I would completely understand why.

Ok, I already asked about dwarf/human hybrids and yes, it can happen...it's very rare, but it's possible. The offspring is taller than a dwarf, shorter than a human and stocky...If, over a very long period of time, human/dwarf hybrids are deliberately bred to cultivate certain traits, (just like Tevinter Magisters...that's where the dwaves learned it from, let's say) and their existence is kept secret from the magisterium, the dwarves would have alot of time preparing for a revolt. Sure, not all dwarves would consider this plan of action a favorable thing and the majority of dwaves revolting would be the surface dwarves who co-exist with the top side races, and see what type of society is in Tevinter and witness the exploitation of other dwarves/races and non-mages every day. And they see a small group of magisters trying to make a difference, why not join them? If they cut off enchantment production and only supply this 'friendly' groups of mages with prime lyrium, it WOULD make a difference.

Harding, Krem and Grim fit that catagory too, but in a lesser degree, someone said Charter and yes, she was interesting too along with Fairbanks, Barris and Michel De Chevin.

Not really, she didn't strike me as an interesting character. I'd much rather have Valta or Dagna to come back, Valta for story reasons and Dagna because that lil' dwarf had spunk.

There do seem to be quite a lot of dwarves in Tevinter though, and not just lyrium and enchantment traders. Dorian says you see them everywhere and finds thinking of them as only merchants weird. Dorian: “Back home, you see dwarves everywhere … and not just from Ambassadoria.”
Dorian: “Rather odd how, in the South, everyone thinks of dwarves as merchants. Limited view, in my opinion.”
Dorian: “Maybe you’ll change that? In the future, one will hear ‘dwarf’ and think 'messiah.’ Down with stereotypes!”
The dwarves may be outsiders from the Tevinter class system but I’m sure the Kal’sharok/Tevinter surface dwarves have their very own social ranking system amongst themselves (and I suspect more support from their thaig then Orzammer surface dwarves get). And being everywhere would give them the interesting perspective of being very familiar and involved with Tevinter society but apart from it aswell, even superior too.

Not really, she didn't strike me as an interesting character. I'd much rather have Valta or Dagna to come back, Valta for story reasons and Dagna because that lil' dwarf had spunk. But we're talking potential Companion's here and probably a setting of Tevinter. Valta has joined the hivemind of the Titan now. While I certainly hope we encounter her in future installments, I don't think with her current condition she would be great as a companion. Plus she's inherently heavy in the Dwarf story domain. I'd rather that have a whole game of its own, rather than being forced into a story already taking place in a rich environment like Tevinter. It would also be a bit of a shame to finish up her/titan story with another DLC. As for Dagna, love her to death, but she's not exactly combat trained. She is educated as a Mage, but cannot use Magic. She's essentially Bodhan Freddie, just more adorable. If she comes back as a supporting NPC thats one thing, but I'm not really sure forcing her into a companion role that inherently needs combat would be the best route for her character to take. Plus, she's in a relationship with Sera if Sera wasn't romanced and i don't really want to mess with a good thing. Harding has the potential to be a great Companion, is combat trained, and isn't part of a collective mind link. Out of our available Dwarven female's she is the best option, since I'm pretty sure no one wants Bianca lol!

True, but again I'm hesitant to say that they would make for a good new Tevinter PC. It essentially boils down to Dwarves being pretty much in Tevinter for Business. Sort of like the difference between working at a place and living at a place, though that might just be me. Gut instinct tells me they would still be pretty removed from what is going on, but that might be because I put so much work into creating an insider perspective PC for my Dual PC concept I'm heavily biased on the matter lol! That being said depending on what sort of story Bioware goes with it could work since Dwarves can be at least Soporati caste. As for Kal-Sharok its hard to assume, but you are probably right in that their rules aren't nearly as stringent about the surface. Hell we're not even sure how that Thaig survived the Blights yet, though we know it changed its people in some physical way. That place is definitely on my to go list, perhaps when they readdress the Titans we'll finally get to go there. I was hoping for a hardcore Dwarven game eventually anyway. Back on topic however, YAY HARDING YAY!!!

I'd like to see Bianca pregnant with her husband's child and leaving Varric so that he can become available for someone else...Then he can smash his crossbow, someone can find it, take it to Dagna and Harrit, they can reverse engineer it with better materials and runes and there you go! Varric gets himself a way better crossbow that's more efficient, fast and deadly.

But that would also imply the Varric would be a returning companion for a third game straight, since I doubt we would be dragging around a pregnant woman as a Companion. As much as I love that Dwarf ... Varric needs to retire. He's already been a part of three immense events in his lifetime, I think involving him in anymore is a little too convenient even for the DA universe. Plus he is the Viscount of Kirkwall if Hawke was left in the Fade. He can't really be that irrepressible, and to be honest I think he's had enough screen time.

If Kirkwall is made an enter/escape route point like Skyhold or Denerim or Val Royeau, meeting up with Varric is a possibility. He just becomes a rest point.
