I'm not sure, was this even illegal? In Austria and EU, that is. They weren't impersonating any real company, didn't hoaxed anyone for financial profit and spreading lies isn't illegal. well they claimed to be associatedwith a whole bunch of big name companies and claimed to have worked on a lot of famous games, then offered paid services that they apparently werent really able to provide.. if that isnt illegal to lie about then I think it should be. I agree it should be illegal, but I'm not so sure it is. But I'm not from Austria so I don't know is it, and while I am from EU I am not much versed into EU's laws on such things. |

I am literally laughing my ass off at this. The company doesn't even exist? This is amazing. No wonder they would shoot themselves in the professional foot...there's no professional foot to shoot. And I genuinely believed at first they were 3rd party software developers, up until I noticed that reddit thread I linked earlier. Same here. I'd heard of them mentioned before on... you guessed it, IMDB. My honest impression when reading the FB post was that he was a fired employee who still had his creds. I was sceptical for the reasons I stated back in my first post on the matter, but I only started to doubt the company's existence when you mentioned the stuff about how no-one at their address or the lead MEA dev had heard of them. |

Alright... A plausible story, but there are people better equipped to question this. The Jorg Kellar page on FB is still up. May I just note that this is a peculiar collection of names for someone supposedly being Austrian. Patrick Sinclair, Jorg Kellar - a little more effort seems to have gone into this one, since it's remotely similar to a german name. Can anyone check the winter wonderland picture Sinclair's using right now. I forgot how you do a picture search on google. I wonder what village that's supposed to be. Think someone could've just photographed their own village? |

I also believed that this whole "Sinclair Networks" was a genuine company, working with many famous brands. I got suspicious once I noticed the Bioware logo being absent from their supposed portfolio. Why would they leave it out if it was their latest prominent client? |

This is why I never pay attention to game news only unless it comes from the developers themselves. I'm new to the bsn but I'm certain this kinda crap happened with DA2 the internet loved to poop on that game the same with Andromeda. There is having an opinion. But then there is just being a douche.

Using a false phone number or adress on social media isn't an offense. And the defamation part is a hard one to persue. It's rather where this person is actually based. The choice of name(s) indicates that they never even visited Austria. They just have chosen some flashy sounding english ones. The company would have to persue that guy to bring him to court for defamation. But they'd had to go through facebook to get his real name and adress first. |

There's been a pretty sustained campaign to pour hate on MEA, no question. it's a solid 7/8-game that's being treated worse than Aliens: Colonial Marines. Whether or not Jason is in on it is a very different question and one that I think is a bit stretching to say the least, but I can easily see him taking the word of a 'dev' because they were saying stuff he could sell. Honestly, I'm a mixture of fascinated and annoyed - the former by the audacity of it and the latter by the sheer lack of thinking going on. Having said that, I suspect the hate train has gone off the cliff now. Anyone pushing the 'MEA is on teh ICE' narrative is going to get tarred with the same brush and be branded an imbecile. |
