And that's kind of funny. DA2 released to very mixed reviews with the biggest complaint being that maps were too often re-used. Personally, I didn't see it. Loved that game and still do, but it didn't have nearly the map diversity that MEA had. No where close. As for the story, well, we've disagreed about that before. And cordially as well, for which I thank you. I hated DA2 after playing the demo back then and decided on never buying it. Turns out, lack of map diversity or peculiar enemy spawn locations aren't the things bothering me. It bothers me much more if I get that meh feeling over story and companions. And that's where MEA disappointed me.

We've almost always been labeled as toxic trash, sadly. That will likely never change, no matter the circumstances. I do have to say I'm highly disappointed to see one of our forum members essentially bullied away due to being made "infamous" via Kotaku writer tweets. Yes, it's a public forum so anyone can come see what we have to say, but to shine a spotlight on private individuals using one's public Twitter with a following like that is crass and low, in my personal opinion. You're welcome to screenshot my post and tweet it to your followers by the way, Jason. A BSN forum moderator says something negative about your behavior, that should get you some nice clicks. I'm not afraid, and I won't run. Go for it. Of course you won't run, DR. You're a badass. Always have been. And, yes, posting tweets without at the fucking least blurring the user names was an absolute dick move. I won't lie, I am very annoyed. Especially if it had anything with lonegunnar leaving the forum, who, btw, if he's seeing this post, needs to get back in here, dammit. We're missing you, dude. Yep jason is acting like a bully, it was a dickish move from him.

As a member of the public, I am entitled to view the behavior of journalists in podcasts based on my own standards. I did not react positively to that particular podcast and said I felt it was unprofessional. I still do. Anyone can probably dig it up for themselves and form their own opinions on it. That Jason saw fit to make fun of my statement on Twitter is also, IMO, unprofessional and that it is also drawing unprofessional comments from other gaming journalist reflects on their lack of professionalism as well. If they don't want their work assessed by random members of the public, I suggest they get out of publishing it. Well at least we have an other update to that neogaf article, we know as of now that jason Has no problem relying on bullying tactics to silence the people who don't believe him for anything he says, or criticize him. Even if MEA has no dlc whatsoever, that is barely the point anymore, his behavior is not only unprofessional its dickish.

I also didn't have the companion buy in that I had with DA2, DAI or ME3. I still love the companions in MEA but I'm not as invested in them as I was in the other games...except for Drack, but that's because he's an old, grumpy bastard and I can relate to that. Not to being 1400 years old, of course, this isn't Highlander, but definitely the grumpy part. That's the whole point. And I'm not sure it's only because of Drack being a grumpy old man. I explicitly exempt him in every critical post I make on companions. He's simply well written. He has a development arc and you only get to know his innermost secrets if you stick to him and gain his trust. In short, he rises up to usual Bioware standards while the others do not.

True, but there were several other character stories that resonated with me as well. I think, though, that is part of the equation; where and why do some stories click for some people, but not others? One of my nieces adores the Vetra story (as do I) and, given her background, that makes sense. My other niece adores Cora (personally, I don't) which, again, considering her history, makes sense. Either one would honestly throw down to defend their favorite character. Characters and stories mean something to different people for different reasons. It sucks that MEA didn't grab you like it grabbed me. Maybe in the next game it will.

It sucks that MEA didn't grab you like it grabbed me. Maybe in the next game it will. Every other Bioware game I ever played did. This makes MEA that disappointing for me. I didn't buy all their games, but I started with Baldurs Gate over NWN, ME1, DAO, ME2, 3, DAI and DA2. MEA is the one out for me. I never hated it, but I simply don't feel like replaying it. A first with any Bioware game.
