I was really impressed by this trailer. I fully expected the DLC to be great, but this looks extremely significant.
It looks like NEMESIS is present in some form in the ruins of Los Angeles. Wow.
Seyka, the new Quen companion, is beautiful.
The Waterwing is going to be an absolute game-changer. I'd love to replay the entire game with one, but I imagine they'll only populate the Burning Shores, and that region is only available after completing the story. Oh, well. The Forbidden West isn't really set up to be as interesting underwater as the Burning Shores, anyway, though there are a few cool places.
Zenith weaponry? That happened faster than expected. I wonder if Sylens or Beta made that happen?
Seeing Gildun hug Aloy was great! I love that guy, and he looks as lovable as ever. I can't wait to interact with him again.
I wonder if Brin found the tribe with metal teeth who drink "machine blood"? It would be cool if the Quen weren't alone in the region. I feel like I recall that tribe had fallen silent, though, so they could be dead or gone.
I'm even more eager to play this after seeing the trailer.

I was really impressed by this trailer. I fully expected the DLC to be great, but this looks extremely significant. I believe this dlc will be at least as big as Frozen Wilds. I don't agree. When listening to Aloy, she say's he not it. It's possible a Zenith escaped while the rest of the Zeniths were eliminated. The other is Guerilla will want the 3rd game to be all about preparing and stopping Nemesis. I'm not surprised. Once GAIA gets back to functioning at peak performance, it will likely study the Zenith tech enough to where it could be mass produced, or at the very least a prototype, for Aloy to use. If it ends up Aloy taking down a Horus on her own, I will yell space magic. That hand cannon would have to be a lot, let's make that a very, very a lot, more powerful than what was seen from the Zeniths.

That hand cannon would have to be a lot, let's make that a very, very a lot, more powerful than what was seen from the Zeniths. I heard, "Our enemy's moving south," rather than "he's moving South." Is that the part you're referencing? I'm not sure what we'll get, but I'm sure it will be great. Agreed on the little Zenith weapon being laughable against a Horus. I expect that to involve flight, maybe EMPs, and disabling the machine bit by bit. I saw a gameplay segment over the weekend that was wild. Aloy seemed to have a ropecaster that was a bow rather than a crossbow. If I saw that correctly, I hope it's a Legendary. Either way, if it's comparable but faster than the crossbow models, it will be insane. She also has some new melee attack on downed machines. Imagine the critical strike on a downed machine, except leaping down on it from above, and priming a resonance detonation (I'm unable to recall the proper name, at the moment). I also saw a nice intro to Kylie Liya Page and her charater, Seyka. Apparently, Seyka is a very skilled warrior, and Aloy dealing with someone on her level creates a new dynamic. (I wonder if they're laying the groundwork for an eventual love interest. Nothing suggests that. I'm basing it entirely upon revelations about Elizabet and the introduction of another pretty female companion.) I am looking forward to this one. I downloaded it earlier. I wish I could start it tomorrow.

I still need to complete the game I finished story-wise and do a NG+ run on maybe a little bit harder than easy mode.

Damn I gave in and watched that video, the long wait for PC version is hard. Def been a tough wait. I almost gave in and got it on the ol ps4 pro a while back, but they announced the dlc wouldn't come out for it so still waiting for the pc release...You'd think they'd want to get it out sooner to pick up some sales. Since the person in charge seems to love to release this series next to other huge games. First with Zelda BotW, then Elden Ring and now only a week before Jedi Survivor....

Yeah imagine that you'll probably never play the DLC as a PS4 copy owner and it's just depressing. I hope Aloy doesn't get a love interest. Or at least not a female only one. I thought the point was that she ISN'T Elizabeth. So what better way to demonstrate that by making Aloy at the very least bisexual. OK, I'm biased because I like her with Avad. But if they go for a love interest in the DLC or the third game, I hope there will be choices. Or it's a super story relevant one. I do think romantic love would be a great theme for her in the third game. First we saw her opening up to people in general, now she even has lots of friends. And maybe next game she'll discover the ultimate experience of acceptance and love.

themikefest, you were correct about our foe. I can't say more, because I want both myself and everyone else to go into TBS unspoiled. I've already seem 30 seconds too much! I'll probably be playing in around 20 hours or so. I gotta eat breakfast and watch The Mandalorian, and then pack a bit for my move before playing.

I thought the point was that she ISN'T Elizabeth. I never had this impression. When Gaia cloned Elisabet, she knew for sure that Aloy would have the same personality: "No, Elisabet, I know you too well" And the whole conflict between Aloy and Beta was because the latter couldn't fathom why Beta isn't like her and Elisabet.
It has always been a point of frustration for me.

Saw some DLC cutscenes (some are already playing the DLC), the very last of Lance Reddick. 😔 It's bittersweet; great to see him but knowing it's his swan song for this series.

I doubt GAIA did not know that clones are not the same as the original person since in the Old World, there were regulations regards clones. I would say perhaps there were cases that clones inherited similar traits as the donor and she was hoping Aloy would be the same; that love of all life / the Earth, persistence in pursuing her goals, etc. After all, Aloy was her last hope. That statement perhaps was an encouragement, plea, in case Aloy turned out differently. For Aloy to expect Beta to be similar to Elizabet is no surprise. After all, what experience does she have with clones? It's a typical mistake. It's only after meeting Beta and interacting with her, understanding how she was brought that she would learn that traits / personalities differ from clone to clone, depending on the upbringing they received. Aloy knows she is not Elizabet. She regards Elizabet as her mother. Hence, her character, inclinations, interests would be different.

I only played for a few hours today, so I didn't go too far into Burning Shore.
I met Seyka and completed the first main quest and a few side quests. I then explored, had a new adventure with Gildun, and eventually lost my Sunwing before I knew I'd strayed too far. I sort of rode "home" on my Charger (I hope I don't lose it, too. I haven't seen any, yet, and I'm not a fan of the other land mounts), and saved before the next main quest.
I am going to try not to go overboard with exploration, but rather let the story take me to unexplored places, and then knock out the exploration while in the area. It saves a ton of time that would be lost to excessive backtracking.
There are some good new items in the shops. The new weapons are good. The new mods are great. I didn't pay as much attention, yet, to outfits, but they look good cosmetically. Pre-order customers got a Legendary Warrior Outfit and a Rare Hunter Bow for 1 shard each, as well as a free (exclusive?) dye.
If you've played NG+ and have ghost levels, you'll likely grab all the new skills and Valor Surges immediately. I've not yet used most of them, but they're pretty good and significant.
I felt so sad when seeing Sylens. It was sad knowing that was Lance Reddick's final performance as Sylens. I hope I see more of him in the story, but this is his final act, either way. What a singular performer. He's already missed.

I got to play some today, but not as much as I'd have liked.
I advanced the story more, learning the details of the enemy's plan. There was a boss fight at the end of that quest that was nuts. I put so many arrows into this enemy's face that I can't even estimate on a number. Critical damage was popping up arrow after arrow, but they just wouldn't drop.
Despite all outward appearances, this enemy was significantly more durable than an Apex Slaughterspine. Those have more weaknesses than this incomprehensibly beefy foe. It was such a relief when they finally dropped. I play on Ultra Hard, and I felt it in this fight. The enemy had untold thousands of health.
I explored a bit more, and clearly found something I wasn't supposed to find. I just couldn't go any further with that loose thread. Now, having acquired a new Zenith weapon, I believe I could revisit that discovery. First, I need to hit a weapons vendor and resupply. I expended a lot of resources on that mutant boss.

I am having a hard time playing the first game still. Partly due to PC issues with it bogging down, but also if I stay away for a day or two it gets lost from the rotation. I am really thinking it is the burnout of open world games that I had mentioned before. I did try to play a little Zero Dawn today, but when my PC crashed it took my save directory and I started over again. This will be the last chance I give the game for starting over until I get a new machine if something happens again.

I hope Aloy doesn't get a love interest Well looks like that can of worms has been opened with this DLC. Bunch of people already spoiling stuff right in thumbnails so be careful browsing the net. I saw it. I saw a couple of other clips as well so this "romance" is optional, flash burn. There's no permanent tie. Choose a line and Aloy will say she has a lot on her shoulders, she doesn't have time to think of anything else. Almost what she said to Avad in the first game. Also saw other clips which makes me shake my head. It reminds me of the AC Odyssey DLC; the First Blade. It's the same start off; a relationship that fires up really fast if the player goes for it. Not the kind of relationship I envision for Aloy because the kind of tie she needs has to be built up slowly first. But the writers shot one option dead because I was thinking Varl was a good pairing for her. Avad is plausible if he could get more screen time to show that he could hold his own in a fight and highlight other aspects of his character. Erend's problem, huge problem, is that he hits the bottle too easily. What the devs didn't do in this DLC relationship is to seal it so Aloy is free to make a choice in the third and final installment of this series. The devs for AC Odyssey sealed it for the player because story wise, canon, Kassandra's bloodline has to continue which is fine with me as I want Kassandra to have descendants. There will be no continuation of the hybrid bloodline otherwise. My problem is that Natakas arrived too late and received too little screen time. Edit. I was additionally think; well, Aloy could die in the next one and that'll leave Beta. Or Beta will die. Or both clones die which makes relationships pointless. 😅 Or the devs kill off all the male options, leaving female options in which case, for me, I wouldn't make any choice. Aloy can live to be an old maid. 🤣

I got to put a solid 6 hours into Burning Shores today. I've advanced the story pretty far along. I saved near the end of what I suspect is the penultimate story mission.
It's been good. Seyka was much less useless today. She's always adorable, but couldn't stay on her feet during the brutal boss fight I'd mentioned yesterday. Today, she was solid. She really excels against humans and small machines. Against large machines, she definitely contributes, but never draws the attention away from Aloy. I'd love a few seconds per fight, but I guess that's the nature of Ultra Hard.
There's a ton of stuff left to do, even after the main story is completed. (The side quests have been excellent, by the way.) I will have hunting to do for weapons upgrades, and Brimshine to collect, also for upgrades. (Imagine greenshine in a golden yellow, and that's brimshine.) There is an ongoing side quest that's a treasure hunt, of sorts. I'll probably finish that after the main events.
I hope Seyka doesn't drop from the story after the main quests are complete. Having her along is a lot of fun. The dynamic between them grows and changes with each adventure. I really hope she comes back to the Base, or at least joins, but I have no idea if that's feasible for her and no indication at this point that it's likely.
There are still areas on the Forbidden West map that haven't been implemented and don't seem likely to be part of this story. It makes me wonder if there will be one more expansion to this game before the end.
I heard that the new machines will be added to the Arena at the Grove once I complete the story. I'm not sure I'll have time to master the Arena before packing up and moving in real-life, but I can't wait to see the rewards. Maybe that's a task best left for late next month.
