A lot of very optimistic people voting so far. I'll believe there's a sequel to ME:A just as soon as I finish playing Half Life 3. None of us have an actual clue, but I would suspect a remastered OT is more likely. It would be (relatively) cheap to make and a decision could be taken on whether to resurrect the franchise if it sold well. I think that would end up being a decade away, in the hope of appealing to a new gamer base not familiar with the early days in Andromeda. Despite my overwhelming disappointment with all aspects of MEA, I would still buy a remastered OT using the game mechanics of MEA (with restricted use of Jetpacks, hopefully), as I've never really been able to enjoy the actual gameplay of ME1 much at all, and even ME2 is quite clunky. The thought of playing them with smooth controls gets me quite excited - much more than the thought of where MEA2 might lead, as I for one am not interested in continuing illegal AI experiments, even in a space-fantasy setting.

Just make a remaster of the original trilogy, and bring back Shepard. Andromeda was garbage, and Ryder and his crew were boring. I'd rather the series to just die then have MEA2.

Why do people believe they'll have a new protagonist? The andromeda initiative is deeply tied to the Ryder family. SAM is Alec's invention. It wouldn't make sense to start over again with a protagonist who would automatically be less involved in the main story.

I don't think we are going to see a sequel for a very long time,I also think every thing is riding on ANTHEM,if it's a big success, then Bioware will transition fully into the "online service" market which will change Bioware's whole approach to game development........meaning a future Mass Effect could end up as an online only game.

I'd rather the series to just die then have MEA2. At some point, people must come to a realization that believing something shouldn't exist based solely on your own disinterest for it, despite the existence of many people who are very much interested in it, is a monstrously selfish viewpoint and a colossal waste of one's life and mental energy.

I think you'd need a much a longer timeline realistically to develop the setting/lore into a thriving vibrant new game world/setting comparable to the old one from what we have at year zero. The problem with Andromeda is that it has no history or culture, architecture and nothing to see but desert outposts and shanty towns which doesn't really engender exciting exploration in an exploration game. Nothing much will have changed significantly in 100 years as the population will still be tiny ( < 1m) and probably wouldn't have ventured beyond Helios by that time. A larger time jump will do wonders for this series. The Elder Scrolls never needed 500 year time-jumps because it's medieval fantasy, but the next Mass Effect games definitely does Imo. 100 years: < 1m - first cities 200 years: <10m - regional governments 300 years: <100m - first major conflicts, formation of national governments 500+ years: 1b+ - age of exploration... need more suitable homeworlds (resources) and living spaces (colonies) for population. Eh, what? I'm pretty damn sure Andromeda Initiative brought in artists and architects from Milky Way. As well library of history of every species and nations histories and culture. People of AI are not blank slate, without culture or past. Also you are greatly underestimating potential baby boom explosion that happen. It is possible for Milky Way species for population to explode into millions after a century, with the exception of Krogan( there's only around 1,000 of them in Andromeda, plus Genophage) and Asari( 100 year old Asari are basically in their late-teens, so raising up Asari kids is long and difficult). Also, age of exploration? That's... that's how AI started. And it's their entire goal to explore Andromeda galaxy in first place, along with reaping resources of the galaxy. Oh and you pretty much ignored existence of Angara, who have two heavily urbanized planets( although Voeld seen better days) and population likely in billions. As well, Ryder twins are able to control the Remnant technology, at very least Remnant space navy. So whatever Council/Federation will be formed from AI soon, it will involve Angara and Remnant. Which accelerates things by huge lot. And let's not forget, AI expects more waves of Arks from Milky Way. Due to Reaper War, either they will get new Arks much sooner then expected or none at all. Without venturing hundreds of years into the future we’re stuck in a backwater protecting farmers and scientists from bandits like an early Civ game. Somebody just put me in cryo until the series back to how it used to be.

I think there is very little chance for a sequel. If we are lucky we will get another Mass Effect in the milky way.

However, I think you are greatly overestimating how many people will Anthem require after it is launched. developing new content for existing game always requires much less people than making the base game, which usually consumes every resource the studio has (which is what is going on now). If the game will have some semi-randomized world events (there were some hints that it might), the number of people required to make new content will further decrease. After Anthem will launch, majority of Edmonton studio will focus of Dragon Age 4, with a small part of the studio keeping Anthem alive, patching and adding new bits of content as the game progresses. Some management and few tech people will probably move to make some order at Montreal, where the biggest fails were on the management side and on them being incapable of using everything Edmonton added to Frostbite with Inquisition.

It wouldn't make sense to start over again with a protagonist who would automatically be less involved in the main story. New protagonist can still be part of Ryder family. Like, grand-nephew of Ryder you play in ME:A, as in grandchild of Ryder twin sibling that was in coma for most of ME:A. Also it wouldn't be that surprising, as BioWare did the same for Dragon Age games. Each game had different protagonist.

OT but i love the new Tomb Raiders. I have a love/hate relationship. I love the new gameplay and visuals but I hate that tombs are optional and there are so many humans. Playing TR1 for the first time, this bad ass woman traversing cliff edges, no annoying people for miles, the occasional sarcastic quip, that was heaven to me. Now it's part tomb raider part COD and I really hope young Lara grows up soon. Bored of waves of bad guys shooting at her and of her overcoming the same emotions two games in a row. High hopes for the next one though.

Possibly best asking this q when we know if DLC is coming or not. I'm guessing there will be a sequel, and much like the original trilogy it will be much better than the first one in many ways. But who knows?

I'm sure there will be a sequel. It wasn't the financial failure some might think, but it wasn't a critical success either. I think you'll see some retooling in MEA2.

Yeah, ME:A 2 will most likely get similar treatment Watch_Dogs 2 got. It will get a greenlight, just serious re-tooling in management and vision.

If they've no interest in a sequel i think they should let premise rest in peace rather than spawning a cheap reboot.

Like, why shouldn't we believe? As if smth terrible happened. Again, too early for such assumptions. We need to wait, gather your strength, hold your inner krogan together, dammit! Hrm... yes, the inner Krogan where slap-fighting is only reserved for foreplay. I'm with with you, though. Drack deserves another installment.

For one, it's just way too soon for that sort of thing. Tomb Raider easily lends itself to reboots. Like, does anyone remember or really give a shit what actually went on in the original games anymore? Heck, before the reboot was released, the only thing I could really remember about Tomb Raider anymore was aging polygons and those crummy Angelina Jolie flicks.

The sequel could be the greatest game ever made, but don't expect the people whining about ME:A to ever want anything but to whine about the sequel.
I started playing a great game back in March, but those people had already decided to subject the fans and creators of the game to hell years in advance.

Oh jeez on one hand I would love a remaster of the trilogy. Updating ME1's combat so that its not clunky and reinventing some of those dreadful side quests/planets. They could even retcon the ME3 ending (going with indoctrination theory) and allow via player control to have Shepard live or still perish (because not everyone would like a happy fairy tail ending). That being said I would HATE leaving MEA forever I've grown to like the characters (except kallo and gil who are pretty boring imo). Can we have both? pretty please :3

I wish Bioware success and have no issue with gamers who enjoy online but it would mean Bioware moving away from the type of games I buy,I have no interest in "online" focused games.

They are definitely not going to take a dump on their own story to please people who want an ending that's not a Mass Effect ending if they do a remaster.
