I think MEA will get a sequel. But I don't think it will be soon. Between ME1 and ME2 was 3 years, and between ME2 and ME 3 was 2 years. My personal prediction is that an MEA sequel will come in maybe 4 years, and that Ryder will not be playable, but more an HoF style character. Meaning the intro will say Ryder went on an expedition beyond the scourge and was not heard from.
Other prologue news items will be: 1- Spender confronted Drack while he was switching out batteries and killed him 2- Peebee accidently activated anothe escape pod and Ryder did not bother looking for her 3- Sid finally got arrested and exiled for hacking and tampering with initiative records. Vetra quits the team to look after her on Kadara 4- Liam got suspended again 5- Cora takes time off to write her own battle manuals 6- Jaal returns to the Remnant city and tries to work the controls to make the perfect woman for him.

Hoping for a reboot in Andromeda 600 years after colonization.
It will not be a direct sequel and they will not call it ME:A 2 as that would be commercial suicide. My guess would be Mass Effect (2027).
All the original species will have long since expanded beyond helios to find suitable homeworlds and built a new Mass Relay network to connect them. The council & citadel space will be newly re-established and the new setting will be as comparably storied and detailed (fleshed out) as the old one without necessarily repeating it while drawing significant inspiration from it. Ryder and the Initiative will be little more than pre-historical footnotes. You will play the first human spectre since Shepard.
Along their travels (mass relay expansion) in these 600 years the known species will have encountered significantly more of the (unknown) native species and made new alliances and enemies from within citadel space and beyond and as a human spectre your role will be to help resolve some of the conflicts between citadel species, the natives and each other. The new galaxy map I reckon will probably be 1/10th of Andromeda (NW) with the rest reserved for future instalments.
Ending cannon will never ever be acknowledged so you might as well assume that we are the last remaining survivors from the Milky Way until informed otherwise.

Yes, we will get a sequel.
All of the whiny psychopaths who want BioWare staff to die and the tabloid hacks selling their souls don't mean anything in comparison to actual sales and actual fans enjoying the game.

I think there will be a sequel, however Ryder will not be a protagonist. Sequel will instead take like a century after ME:A events. I think you'd need a much a longer timeline realistically to develop the setting/lore into a thriving vibrant new game world/setting comparable to the old one from what we have at year zero. The problem with Andromeda is that it has no history or culture, architecture and nothing to see but desert outposts and shanty towns which doesn't really engender exciting exploration in an exploration game. Nothing much will have changed significantly in 100 years as the population will still be tiny ( < 1m) and probably wouldn't have ventured beyond Helios by that time. A larger time jump will do wonders for this series. The Elder Scrolls never needed 500 year time-jumps because it's medieval fantasy, but the next Mass Effect games definitely does Imo. 100 years: < 1m - first cities 200 years: <10m - regional governments 300 years: <100m - first major conflicts, formation of national governments 500+ years: 1b+ - age of exploration... need more suitable homeworlds (resources) and living spaces (colonies) for population.

This again (month after month after year after year).
Now that ME:A has been done - I would like a direct sequel to it, preferably with Ryder as the PC and another direct sequel after that carrying on as a series over any number of games... all expanding the Andromeda galaxy. I really want to see where THIS story goes.
I don't really want a reboot of the old Trilogy... a remaster of the graphics and sound would be fine, but I would prefer they leave those great games as they are and don't mess with them. I like the ME3 endings just fine and have no desire to see them changed yet again (to pander to fans that have proven time and again that they just cannot be satisfied). When reboots have been done, I usually wind up thinking of them as being vastly inferior to the originals anyways. I don't expect it would be any different with a Mass Effect Trilogy reboot.
Of course, I have no idea what they will decide to do since I don't sit in their board room... we'll just have to wait to see what they tell us in due course... and I see absolutely no point in guessing over this week after week after month after year after year.

I voted sequel. My guess is they'll do something a la mass effect 2 and start the game with a drastic change in status quo... like say you accidentally travel through a mass relay type device or phenomenon to a whole different cluster. Probably that giant black hole at the center of Heleus whose purpose hasn't been explained yet. Personally I hope we don't have a time skip at all, I'd still like to see more immediate consequences to my actions and choices in MEA.

Sequel. if the originals were crap but with a good core concept, like Star Treck original series or BSG, sure, take them for another spin. But the original was great, and Andromeda is a solid setting with far more potential than the MW. So, sequel. Personally, my fav subsetting is Remnant Vaults and cities, so more of that, and more of advanced droid culture there, even some borrowings from bag with Angaran remnants or what not would fit my entertainment bill.

Eh, what? I'm pretty damn sure Andromeda Initiative brought in artists and architects from Milky Way. As well library of history of every species and nations histories and culture. People of AI are not blank slate, without culture or past. Also you are greatly underestimating potential baby boom explosion that happen. It is possible for Milky Way species for population to explode into millions after a century, with the exception of Krogan( there's only around 1,000 of them in Andromeda, plus Genophage) and Asari( 100 year old Asari are basically in their late-teens, so raising up Asari kids is long and difficult). Also, age of exploration? That's... that's how AI started. And it's their entire goal to explore Andromeda galaxy in first place, along with reaping resources of the galaxy. Oh and you pretty much ignored existence of Angara, who have two heavily urbanized planets( although Voeld seen better days) and population likely in billions. As well, Ryder twins are able to control the Remnant technology, at very least Remnant space navy. So whatever Council/Federation will be formed from AI soon, it will involve Angara and Remnant. Which accelerates things by huge lot. And let's not forget, AI expects more waves of Arks from Milky Way. Due to Reaper War, either they will get new Arks much sooner then expected or none at all.

I hope they wouldn't do a direct sequel. How interesting could another game in the fledgling days of the new galaxy be? I hope they would kick the ball down the road hundreds of years to when they galaxy is established.

The way MEA was written does lend itself very easily to a direct sequel. If you listen to the dialog carefully, when people talk about your colonies during major plot points they only talk about Eos. Thats because Eos is the only outpost you have to create to advance the story. When you control Meridian it will activate the other vaults anyways. So this is just my theory, but this is how I look at the major plot points:
1. Ambassador choice - we know from previous ME games this choice is irrelevant
2. Vaults activated - Meridian will fully sync with and activate all vaults, so the choice of worlds to complete/settle in the game is not important in the long run. All will get settled and they only have minor dialog adjustments to make to reflect when they were settled, if they even go into that level of detail
3. Kadara: Sloane can die by Reyes can't. If you side with Sloane then the sequel can talk about the eventual triumph of Reyes. If you sided with Reyes he will be in charge anyways. If you side with neither and not settle Kadara, vault gets activated by Meridian anyway and sequel will talk of eventual triump of Reyes
4.Krogan colony. They can write whatever they want here. The sequel can say that Krogan's were eventually re-integrated into the AI or eventually went to war with it. It will be irrespective of your actions, your choices in MEA merely slowed it down or sped it up.
5. Loyalty missions: No one dies regardless of the outcome of loyalty missions or even if you skip them altogether. With no dead squad mates there is no need for writing extra material for 'subs' like Urdnot Wreav, Geth VI, or both Virmire choices.
So don't get me wrong, alot of these points are what I dislike about Andromeda. But it also means its really easy to write a direct sequel.

Andromeda itself was a soft reboot. I don't see a direct sequel to Ryder happening cause bioware already said that may be a possibility along with choices carrying over game to game with less impact (to avoid how ME3 went to big on the choices).
I imagine the next game will be set in Andromeda but with a new protagonist years later so we can see how the settlements grew. Hopefully playable Asari ends up as an option at some point, there are other pathfinders after all and there's still a whole galaxy to explore.

Whining really? This is a forum section for people who feel strongly enough about MEA they will exchange ideas in the forums. People have done the 9 hour playthrough and reported on its outcome. It may not be intentional, but the game leads to a number of 'world states' that can be sequeled quite easily. I made it clear it was my theory. I am definitely not waiting for a sequel nor do I feel connected enough to Andro that I will be upset if it never comes. I look at a sequel as a chance for them to get things right, because I have no intention of buying it if they demonstrate they haven't learned any of their mistakes.

I think in 5 years time we'll get another reboot and Edmonton will make it. I don't think they'll scrap Andromeda, think they'll include it as a footnote.I also think the reboot will be set after Andromeda and the Milky Way will have advanced relay technology that will allow travel to other galaxies extremely quickly. The System Map will be huge
