"Prepare for Platinum" and the short length of the video (and the fact that it's specifically described as a "teaser") suggests that Platinum difficulty won't be arriving when the trailer airs, but shortly afterwards.

I'm willing to bet that it coincides with story content that explains how a batarian got to Andromeda.

Two theories:

The batarian will be explained as some sort of stowaway who snuck onto one of the Arks, or some sort of hired muscle-type thing.
Or the quarians let some batarians onto their Ark, either as muscle or because the Reaper invasion had started when the quarian Ark managed to leave the Milky Way. His armour is courtesy of some kett he's had to fight. Most of the new characters in MP have had a mini-story associated with them...and this fellow could be building up to the quarian Ark.

At best they would be a few thousands on a 20 000 arks because they have to share the spaces with quarian, elcor, volus, hanari, drell.

So we would pretty much kill all of the population of batarian in andromeda quickly.
