Ships

The USS Pueblo, officially a banner class "environmental research" ship, but in reality a signals intelligence vessel which was converted in the 1960s from a camano class cargo ship that was laid down in '44. She was later captured by North Korea in 1968 and is officially still in active service, which also makes it the only U.S naval vessel being held captive, where it's being used as a museum ship in Pyongyang. It's armed with two M2 .50 cal machine guns.

Ships, boats, jet skies, whatever your heart desires.

I've only ever been on two warships, HMS Belfast (where me an my granda got told off for moving the AA guns) and HMS Duncan. Both were very cool.

Anybody here legit know how to sail?

I'm a Navy Brat, the child of two Naval officers. I basically know everything there is to know about all US Naval vessels from about 1903-onward.

But everybody goes straight to military craft. There's a lot of really neat civil and commercial designs out there as well.

I've sailed all my life. Mostly in rivers and lakes but a few times on open water as well. Also competed in some local sailing races. It's wonderful being on the water with a small crew of friends. Especially when it's sunny with a strong wind. But even when one of those lets you down its still fun. I also like sailing in the middle of the night but the problem is that the wind tends to be non-existant after the sun sets in inland waters. So it's a little bit hit or miss if you can actually sail or not.

The U.S. Independent-class LCS vessels are probably be my favorite.





I am not above Early Modern Period designs either. Cutters and Schooners also look alright to me. I usually favor small-ish, agile, and stealthy.

What are those used for?  Hard to detect scouting ships?  What is the scale of that 1st one size wise?

thats Santisima Trinidad, one of the largest and heaviest-armed ship of the line of her time. (140 cannons mothafucka! :gasp:  )

she was originally built as 3-decker with 112 cannons, then rebuilt as 4-decker with 140 cannons.

It is a fast, agile, and stealthy mini-multipurpose warship that is 127m/418f in length.

My dad loves ships, boats, all the sort. I wish I knew more so I could impress him with some knowledge. Most I do is buy him ship stuff for holidays

Is this now a museum ship? I'll always envy that about America, Warspite, Vanguard and King George V being sold for scrap is heartbreaking.
