In this rather lighthearted approach they took with this game's story, killing off the 20 something year old protagonist would really feel out of place IMO. This story is not tragic or epic enough to warrant the death of the protagonist. To me, it would feel like just killing them for the sake of being cruel, not to make a climactic point (as can be argued with Shepard).

Indeed Shepard had to sacrifice themselves in order to save the galaxy they loved. Yes, but not because I disliked Ryder. Had a blast playing him. I just think that'd it be fitting to go out heroically (or optionally anti-heroically) as an early pioneer/founder of the Andromeda Initiative civilization. Like a re-do of ME3 ending Shepard, but doing it right this time. It helps that Ryder doesn't have the baggage of expectation and attachment after being a protagonist for three games like Shepard did, plus it would help to add some gravitas to what was a fairly light-hearted main game (I didn't have a problem with that, but I'd like to see a more serious take to the crew's story, too).

You can easily have many decades or a century skip, so that AI can have cities with industries, as well an army and space navy.

It would never work in DLC because it would immediately render the rest of the game unplayable as soon as you ran it. It would be DLC you could only run after you'd exhausted the whole game and it would have the effect of making your entire story up to that point largely pointless. Also I hate sad endings. Killing Ryder in the next installment to concentrate on another protagonist might work but would also be a bad idea for me as one of the main things I like about ME is the ability to continue your character's story with that character's choices across multiple games. Also I like Ryder's character so I don't agree with the premise anyway. Dead Wardens came back in Awakenings. Naught but a fleshwound...walk it off!  Still think that a sadistic choice between sacrificing one of the twins is the way to go. Go full Empire on MEA! Or not. Just chalk this up to: Crazy Idea #734. |
