Is "rare weapon" for 120 a reasonable value?
Last week I was spending them on uncommon characters trying to increase veteran level. I almost would rather that come back.

I had enough for an UR character, but decided to ride the wave of rozerad accuracy improvement.
The result was a large amount of crap mods I'll never use and no pistol accuracy mod.

After looking at it for about 30 seconds, I decided that the only good use of MFs is to buy the UR char cards to lighten the pool of URs. Everything else easily attainable from playing(except those MF only mods but who really needs those). It takes two days to get 120 MFs. In that same time you could play a bunch of games. If you play platinum, 1 game buys you a pack with two golds or better. I prefer to speed through gold because the lobby ready up is quicker and I don't have to worry about losing ever. And, 1 gold match gets you an expert pack with a gold in it. It's only 15 minutes. So, yeah, 120 MF is too much for a rare weapon.

So far I think the only item that really worth buying is the pistol heavy magazine from uncommon weapon mod.
The heavy pistol magazine (+101% capacity) would increase weapons like Ushior from magazine size of 2 to 4. And for characters with munition training 5b, it would increase from 2 to 5.
Edit:
Ushor's single clip DPS: 896*70/60 = 1045.33
Multi-clip DPS of Ushor (3bullets): ((60/70)*3)/((60/70)*3+1.75)*1045.33 = 622.01
Multi-clip DPS of Ushor (4bullets): ((60/70)*4)/((60/70)*4+1.75)*1045.33 = 692.08
Multi-clip DPS of Ushor (5bullets): ((60/70)*5)/((60/70)*5+1.75)*1045.33 =742.25
It would increase the Multi-clip DPS by 7.2% (742.25/692.08=7.2%) for characters with munition training 5b. And 11.3% (692.08/622.01 =11.3%) for characters without munition training 5b.

Don't buy anything that isn't a rare, uncommon, or common weapon mod. Everything else will drop from a pack. Not the mods though. But common mods seem to be the best thing to buy right now. But uncommons I guess will cycle in eventually. I haven't researched them though and forget their effects from single player. I personally just bought enough to have at least one of each common (as well as rare), in case the uncommons are good when they cycle. But the commons are here to stay it looks like

The heavy ones are almost fine because weight often doesn't matter, but between half and two thirds of the mods have terrible downsides for no reason compared to their benefits. I recommend not buying anything that isn't gear.

Common weapon mods for accuracy without a scope boost on your AR & Pistol. Ignore Rare weapon mods - burning dumpster fire.

Rare characters and weapons seem well priced. Going by pack value, a rare should be more than twice the price of an uncommon. An uncommon should be four times the price of a common, etc.
My read is uncommons and commons are overpriced. For the mods you can only get through MF, the math change a bit. If you're a completionist, you just have to pay and it doesn't really matter what the relative value is.
The URs look a bit overpriced, but I guess the thinking is it might be worth paying extra for a guaranteed UR and not being at the mercy of the random number generator.

I decided to keep buying rare weapons, because I don't see myself working through UR level, and it is unnecessary anyway, as I will not play Pt. most items in the game are on the "rare" level, so it makes sense to me to put everything towards non-optional content in that bracket.

It rounds up from +126% to equavilent of +200% on Ushior? +126% is equivalent to +174%, 2*(1+126%) = 4.52 => 5 bullets 2*(1+174%) = 5.48 => 5 bullets +175% is equivalent to +200% 2*(1+175%) = 5.5 => 6 bullets 2*(1+200%) = 6 = 6 bullets

I bought a few rare weapons yesterday and I got only crappy variants. No more of that for me.
The new mods give you extra bonuses but also have negative effects, so thanks but no thanks.
I'm gonna save and buy UR characters.

All things considered, I'd only buy weapon mods for the simple reason that it's the only way to obtain a lot of them. Most of them are garbage, but there are a few gems hidden away in there. The others might eventually get a balance pass but don't hold your breath.

The only things worth buying with MF are equipment (1st priority), UR characters and common weapon mods (if you have already maxed out all the standard ones).
There is no point in buying a rare weapon at all and the rare/uncommon "special" mods are really useless (at least I didn't find anyone that is actually useful). Among the common mods are the scopeless Pistol/AR accuracy mods that are somewhat useful.
I particularly used my MF to buy equipment and UR characters only.

Pistol targeting mod is da bomb on da Rozerad.
If you dislikes scopes, it is really good. I very luckily got mine to IX spending about 2,500 MF.
Level X can cost upwards of 5,600 total MF (if you have other commons max already)
16 new common mods x 10 ranks x 35 MF = 5,600 MF

I'm going to spend mine on rare weapons, I'm using Advanced packs to try and fill up my uncommon variants at the mo (with the occasional rares popping up). I'll pick up the mods as and when I complete my weapons/kits. Once I've got my rare weapons maxxed, I'll move to UR kits.

So, decisions, decisions...

Equipment -> common weapon mods -> other weapon mods
If you can afford it and need it, the UR character is good to alleviate the UR grind somewhat. I was missing the Salarian Operator at nearing 17k APEX and I had the MF balance to get one and I got lucky. I now have all characters until Bioware releases umpteen more UR kits with Lance and Barricade.
