To be honest, I do feel that the meme has become a slur: it's not helped that I only ever seem to see it used as an insult meaning people are using autism as a term for people being mentally deficient, crazy or being less and that is a real stigma that people with autism face and which weigh heavily. Basically, whether the person intends to or not, it is being used to disparage people with autism because it conveys the same thing as the insult and slur does. I should note that it's not that I think that you cannot use autism as a part of a meme or joke. There are more than a few that I find funny but I just don't consider this meme to be one because, well, it feels like the entirety of it is just that people with autism are stupid. That's it and that's not really a joke, in my opinion, that's just an insult. Q: Why do autistics make really great musicians?
