That's a fucking weak response. I prefer to think of it as measured and informative. Moderators should serve with the good-will of the community in mind. If bans are handed out to elevate the egos of the moderators or the mob our forum is lost, bans should be a last resort, not a first strike. I'd make the observation that moderators have argued in your favor when you have made unpopular but legitimate points, despite calls for bans. Now we all know how everyone feels shall we move on?
If we must continue to discuss slurs, that discussion has moved: bsn.boards.net/post/810067/thread [further posts on that topic are being mod-zapped or moved to the moderation discussion, if civil]

So, to bring this thread back from the brink here, let me ask a question: If I comment here about Jim Sterling, am I reviewing a review of reviews? And what would you call that? Reception?

So, to bring this thread back from the brink here, let me ask a question: If I comment here about Jim Sterling, am I reviewing a review of reviews? And what would you call that? Reception? If you review his reviews of reviews, by saying that his reviews of the reviews lack clarity, or depth, or meaning, whatever, then yes, you are reviewing a review of reviews. Which is awesome, but also just as bad as those Paul brothers or whatever on YouTube making a song and then reacting to the song and then reacting to the reaction of the song. MatPat does a really good episode on how they are cheating the system. As for Sterling, reviewing reviews is mildly humorous, but takes almost zero effort, so I would say just like a regular gaming journalist. I like the way you think, though, AnDromedary!

Some of the reviews stating that this game is Dragon Age Inquisition in space is totally wrong. I wish it was DAI in space. The fetch quests and having a generic villian are the only things MEA and DAI have in common. But DAI also had some of the best characters in the history of the franchise like Cassandra, Dorian, Iron Bull etc. All of them had deep character arks and they were not at all boring. They were written with professionalism. Another thing DAI had are secondary antagonists who had personalities and you could interract with them.Calphernia, Magister Alexius, Envy Demon, Nightmare Demon etc. DAI also had a magnificent collection of soundtracks which made the game immersive as fuck. Nıt including the 10 dragons which had different types of attacks and were rewarding to kill. This game would've had much better reviews if it was indeed Dragon Age: Inquisition in space.

User score should be shut down, or at least go through some verification process to know if you have the game. Critics are the ones to look at, and it's pretty accurate.

Metacritic user reviews are very unreliable. It often becomes a cesspool depending on which game has the internet's ire. And considering the bigots that bombed the game with the worst scores because "SJW!", it amazes me anyone wants to point to such things. Ignorant bigfoots!!

Yeah quarantine lets not use that term. Or, how 'bout we not get worked up over innocuous terms? Getting offended by words is silly and frankly, a waste of time. If I was directly making fun of autistic people, then yeah, I would agree that that would be crossing the line, but i'm not.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯but like................why instead of using 'autistic' pejoratively, why not use a word that doesn't hurt people? just because you want to use the one that does so that you can stick it to those oversensitive autistic people and their allies for wanting respect in a society that stigmatizes and marginalizes them.... oh wait I mean stick it to those SJWs, that's it

Inquisition was the bomb and a great bounce back from DAII (sorry, not sorry to those who liked DAII). i will say however the dragons are just as bad as reusing the architects. The dragons mayve had different colors and breathing capabilities but they weren't very different in the long run.

Looked at some of those metacritic user scores expecting "SJW". Was not disappointed. In all seriousness though, I feel when it comes to some gamers and user scores, some gamers abuse the fuck out of the scoring because they just didn't like a game, were disappointed, etc. Plus they need to cool it with the melodrama, they're making high schoolers embarrassed.

I mean they weren't exactly unique but still they had some sort of variance like electric power being really different than ice and fire or some of them using barrier while others use guard. I know they aren't much but they required planning before going in battle especially in nightmare.

So many games get review bombed by the autist users on Metacritic that it really isn't surprising that nobody in their right mind takes them seriously. In fact, Metacritic users are almost as autistic as: Putin banned fidget spinners because he thinks they are a Western plot to zombify the Russian youth. Wait seriously?!WTF!

What's funny is how many of these "reviews" started popping up when the game barely came out and people were reviewing a 100 hour game less than 20 hours after it came out and on multiple platforms no less. And of course the reviews themselves were so informative "hurr dur hurr dur sjw", "hurr dur Mass Effect 3 endings", "hurr dur Sara is not hot", "hurr dur it is not witcher", and "hurr dur dem aliens is forced diversity". Are you kidding? Day one I was glued to the monitor and YouTube had already declared it dead on arrival. EA's response: silence. Talk about consistent though.

Putin banned fidget spinners because he thinks they are a Western plot to zombify the Russian youth. Pfft... Quarantine, I am old school. Retard, gaylord, every racial stereotype slur and a few others that I have forgotten because it's no longer used: is antiquated as my nieces and nephews have ingrained into their uncle's head. I have two nieces who are school teachers in Ottawa (go Nat!) and in New York (go Jenn!) and I get the change. I get where you're coming from, but it's more a reflection on the user than the intended target or meaning. I'm not dog piling on you. I'm just saying it's not a good representation. It's just a change in perception.

I was just so late to respond. I had to run errands with the boss lady and let's face it... I'm no technological wunderkind. I'm so slow to grasp new technology or trends. I still have a Timex Ironman watch from 1989. It's not like I can't afford a new one, but why?!? Smartphones... I finally gave up my Nokia brick two years ago. Internet... I'm too embarrassed to tell you, but it was necessary when I needed to download patches... (shhh... and this.) Sad... I know... I know... Thank the Maker for the Internet.

Dorian was far from great. He was basically David Gaider's soapbox. A character made up of daddy issues and the typical sassy gay man using wit to fight discrimination. Flamboyant, fashion obsessed. I'll grant you Cassandra, Varric, Iron Bull, Leliana (amazing progression), Josephine, and Cullen. Even Solas and Cole were solid, and Vivienne was a well-written controversial character. But as a gay man, Dorian was nothing more than trite, obnoxious repetition of the victimhood narrative alongside the same stereotypes about gay men. Wanna break stereotypes? Cullen is far more up your alley. We haven't had a single knight archetype gay male character in the franchise, who's well adapted let alone traditional. It's always from the perspective of some drama-prone, maladapted neurotic minstrel. Few characters have made me cringe as Dorian has.

I hear you, but Dorian reminds me of Kevin, an ex-Army nurse (now a PA). When he got out, he came out... with super-duper flair. I call him Dorian and it's not derogatory. He calls me "Ogre"... and yes... that's derogatory, but I can take it. To me, Dorian was my go-to guy. He is exactly the type of person I want at my side facing down the devil himself. Like Garrus, Wrex, Drack, Alistair and Minsc.
