So here's how Andromeda is tracking so far according to the June NPD report (released today) along with some comparables that debuted alongside Andromeda. If there's any takeaway from this information... it's this: How is GTA5 still selling so well?

EDIT: I believe this deserves it's own thread, seeing how most people have poo-pooed the VGChartz post. That thread could probably be merged with this one.

Let's do some reading between the lines. EA just happened to have a recent franchise that had a perceivedly weak instalment akin to Andromeda. Thoughts? Or are these similarities just happenstance?

DS3: "While we have not announced sales for Dead Space 3, we are proud of the game and the franchise remains an important IP to EA," an EA spokesperson told Eurogamer.
MEA: "We’re very happy with how BioWare is doing and how BioWare is treating Mass Effect. Our expectations for the Mass Effect IP are strong for the future."

DS3: "VideoGamer's source claims EA executives informed Visceral Montreal last month... with details of the company's restructuring plans."

Actually, the 80+ of you who were online and didn't bat an eye when a certain poster mocked autism this morning are doing a fine job of choking your own character (apart from Smilesja and a few others who stepped in).

But back on topic, I'm not sure how these numbers can be refuted when NPD is largely respected within the gaming industry. Granted they're US-only numbers, and don't include Origin, but they include digital for consoles. It looks like Andromeda sold strongly during it's first month (only under 2 weeks counting towards the month), but has then dropped off hard. I think metacritic and reviews are largely responsible for this - it's kind of like how rottentomatoes has shown to have a drastic impact on movie ticket sales.

I thought one could typically report posts without having to post anything. I love how you assume that no one reported the person because of lack of responses by many.

The problem with the lack of Origin numbers is we don't know what percentage of players bought via Origin. More and more people are moving to digital download on the PC thanks to services like Steam, GOG, Origin, etc.

With many physical stores not having large sections for PC games, I'd imagine the number of copies in stores goes down. So sales as you get farther from release date for PC at least, I wouldn't be surprised if Origin purchases trended upward in the %. Not saying that's the case, but it is a likely trend.

Without EA's Origin purchases numbers, you can't say with any confidence how good or bad the game is doing.

The thing with these types of figures are that online sales aren't included. You can't even buy a physical PC version in the US. So almost every PC player in the US got their game online. And also, GTA 5 is on current and previous gen consoles, plus PC. I'm sure that doesn't hurt sales.
