^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Watch The Blackfish documentary on netflix...next thing you will say is They killed like 19 of their trainers.....seriously, killer whales are the biggest assholes on the planet. Seriously dude? You think killer whales are the problem? So you see killer whales hunt a baby humpback, fine that's sad...but how many humpbacks do people slaughter every year? Through over fishing and polution? And they aren't even ecologically prudent with their kills and waste much of what they catch...and their trainers? Their trainers know the risks involved in their jobs and many of them would choose what they do over anything. I'm betting the trainers who died would be the first to rebuke your statements. I'm pretty sure that humans are assholes, animals are assholes, we're all assholes. *shrugs* My unpopular opinion: I think we need to send people to Mars, stat. Earth is finite. Let's start investigating new places to conquer and spread through. (furthermore I think more money needs to be spent on science, sciencing, and making space travel more feasible/doable/often and we should need to make a space/planet elevator stat)

Yes but you have to understand that they're wild animals, it's in their nature. It would be naive to expect them to follow our standards of morality. Would you say a lion is an asshole for preying on the weak and the young? They're smart apex predators that have evolved to become successful, extinction doesn't exactly care much for sentimental value bro. Not to mention that if we're talking asshole species, us humans are the number one guys in that list. I agree with this. Humans are the worst species on the planet considering all the shit we have done to the planet, ecosystem, environment, animals and others of our own kind. Ruthless. I for one love killer whales. They are highly intelligent and fascinating. Human deaths from whales have only happened in captivity. There has been no recorded human deaths from orcas in the wild probably because they are free and not miserable in small tanks for other humans to watch them do lame tricks for our own entertainment. Also orcas in the wild have been known to "play tricks" on humans such as fisherman by preventing them from pulling in their lines/cages or whatever they use for mass fishing. Neat.

Having more respect for this planet would help also, I get a little comfort knowing scientists are collecting the DNA samples of all the plants and animals they can here, but I still don't like the idea of the earth dying out because of the short sightedness of some people. We have a beautiful planet.

I like roundabouts. There are a few in Kansas where I went to school, and after your first few times they aren't scary anymore and are actually really convenient. Doubt they will ever make it to Oklahoma tho, honestly, we can't even fill potholes correctly in this state. Dunno if roundabouts are as unpopular elsewhere in the US, Europe, or other areas, but just saying the word triggers some people's driving PTSD here in the Midwest US.

Relevant; Soo cool! Also not to derail this further, OT; I'm not a huge fan of people who glorify the whole being crazy and not normal fad. I think that most of these people who revel in calling themselves crazy are just ordinary blokes who're afraid of being too boring. Also I'm starting to get bored of the current youtube trend of reaction commentary channels with people trying too hard to be edgy and insightful when they've got the perceptional depth of a rabbit. Just because you say fuck a lot doesn't make what you say any cooler, you unoriginal fucks. Also used to randomly watch the granddaddy of commentary channels, LeafyisHere but while his content is funny the first dozen times or so, I find that most episodes of his these days are just a whine fest of him reacting to some random cringe stuff and then repeating the same old jokes he's done a 100 times over while trying to drag the episode over to +12 minutes for that extra ad revenue. Not to mention the circle jerk of 12 year olds that are his fans who spam "Hisss" fucking everywhere.

Despite the population of said town tripling the last 15 years and set to keep doing it.

Just because you say fuck a lot doesn't make what you say any cooler, you unoriginal fucks. ..etc I'm with you there; the same sort of behaviour is a big contributor to me all but abandoning a few of the pop culture websites I used to enjoy reading. The comment sections are just a race of who can be the most bitter/jaded/sarcastic asshole about everything. It's exhausting when you're hoping to discuss something you're actually interested in but all you can find is wall-to-wall snark. Like being trapped in a room with 200 iterations of Chandler from Friends. Fuck off.

If I was made dictator of Earth? We would have permanent settlements on the Moon by 2025. Mars would have orbital stations around its poles in preparation for earnest colonization by 2050. ._. I of course would retreat to a fortified bunker deep in a random trench I will not give the name of here on the Moon and hide there from political opponents and asshole terrorists and what have you. Honestly you sink a few islands in Polynesia and everyone goes insane.

Space stuff is one of the few things I personally wouldn't mind my tax dollars going towards, even if it goes against my political ideas. It's one of the few things that, in the United States at least, can really get people to cooperate along partisan or ideological lines. Though they often do it for different reasons, both goals of liberals and conservatives are sated by it. Of course, there are the people who claim it's a waste, or that we should solve problems here first. Their understanding or knowledge of the efforts and benefits of space travel generally indicate that they are not what I would call intellectually cogent. And, ironically, being a liberal or conservative is no indication in whether you think it's a waste or not. People of all ends of spectrum both support and criticize space travel. It's one of the few non-partisan dividers.

If you can't tell from my avatar, spoiler, and signature, I am EXTREMELY supportive of space exploration and study, and I am a member of the Planetary Society and the American Astronautical Society. I think society should be gearing itself more towards preparing to colonize and move out among the planets, and put the broad efforts of our society into the sciences and engineering endeavors.

I used up most of them and they still didn't move. I eventually was left with one last bullet... it was either shoot myself or be sent to Tasmania and there is only one answer for that.
