The unpopular opinions thread.

Except you knew what it was as soon as it was announced way back. You knew we were going to be leaving, you knew the trilogy was over and done with. I categorically reject the notion that Shepard and co are necessary for a "Mass Effect feel" and you should too, particularly since you claim TOR (or more specifically KOTFE) has the same feel. Nor is any lore and backstory gained in ME2-3 "lost". The asari in Andromeda could still tell you their government were hypocritical jerks that hid the biggest beacon anyone's seen and hoarded it for themselves. If there's any geth aboard they could still tell you their side of the geth-quarian war (though they won't because that will likely mean bringing up the issue again and people are pretty tired of it by now). The only things we won't know is Leviathan and the holokid's bullshit and frankly, thank Christ for that.

And I fail to see how the krogan or quarians will be "the same again". The quarians don't change except for maybe getting their homeworld back. And this time everyone's crammed in ships looking for a home. So if anything the quarians have the advantage now, being in their element while the rest of us are just starting out. And the krogan won't be cured, but they'll have to do something new too: be contributing members of the mission, not just kill each other or wreck everything in sight and manage their own population numbers. Which is what they should've been doing back in the Milky Way but hey, better late than never. Oh and by the way there's no all-powerful alien threat this time (at least not from what they've released). Instead there'll be more localized aliens with conflicts of circumstance. Have you read the press release for ME:A?


Really? All the ME2 I got from KOTFE was "contrived and arbitrary reason to do a timeskip, take your squad and ship away and give you boatloads of new people who may die as you face the improbably powerful galactic threat". Personally I'm not a fan of that approach, particularly since it condensed the classes into one story which scoffs at non-Force users. But if you like that an entirely different game "feels like Mass Effect" then surely you can be open to an actual Mass Effect game feeling like Mass Effect.

Out of curiousity though, which characters in KOTFE do you associate with ME2 characters? I can't really think of any, other than Koth drawing undue amounts of hate like Jacob did (because they're black. That was a joke.)
