Heres an unpopular opinion! Guns are not the evilest things in the world. Guns are inanimate objects, incapable of acting without humans.

So the next time someone does something gun related and stupid, its not the guns fault. Its the asshole holding it.

I do not know! I'm not a member of any weight training community and I have to admit, I eat what I want when I want. 
I'm just some strange dude who lifts weights at home trying to achieve Qunari strength. And it seems to work just fine. Even with white bread in my diet.

Good luck with your goals, just make sure you're still eating enough to keep building / sustaining muscle!
I've never been fat despite not caring much about diet - my appetite has always more or less matched my daily calorie requirement.
Right now I'm 106kg / 234lbs which is super comfortable for both moving heavy weights (due to leverage and stability heavier body weight results in heavier lifts) without being flabby.
I'm nowhere near bodybuilder leanness though, but being that lean is unhealthy and looks ridiculous anyway.

The issue with pepper spray is that morons/criminals assault people with it, or spray themselves or their friends.

You're just as likely to see someone mace someone to steal their stuff as you are to have a woman defend herself with it.

Oh, and I recently discovered that it is illegal under the Geneva convention. So don't use it on a battlefield unless you want to be a war criminal. 

If you're part of a Schengen Area country, just head to the Czech Republic and smuggle a gun out of there. 

If they spray themselves or their friend... well they are fucking idiots and are responsible for it.
If they assault people with it its a different case, it happens very rarely anyways where pepper sprays are legal and i would say the advantages would outweigh the negatives (for example women being able to defender herself from a rapist, all my female relatives in Poland carry one. It gives a fighting chance of getting out of a bad situation)

Also damn i would never expect it to be illegal under Geneva convention.. I mean shooting a parachuter is as bad as pepper spraying someone eh. 

Honestly, I'm not sure why guns are such a big thing IRL. I mean maybe I'm getting a skewed view from the States and there, it seems like it's the principle of the matter more than the matter itself (and I can get behind that, if you give me something and then try to take it away, go fuck yourself), but beyond that?

I'll admit I too gravitate towards the guns section of sporting goods stores (especially when I've been over the boarder, all we have here is air rifles/pistols lol) and I have considered buying a handgun, training at the range etc. Except if I think about it, it'll probably suck. The things are heavy, recoil must be managed, ammo must be bought, I probably wouldn't hit shit with'em, and even if I did, it'd be a dull target that I and it are locked into a lane at a range somewhere. Then there's all the paperwork of all that. Reality set in, in other words. It wouldn't be an FPS or a movie where'd I'd shoot my gun in the air and go "ahh" (points if you get it). If I could do that, I would (having, not only the active powers of a game/movie protagonist but also the passive power of ignoring any consequences). But RL doesn't work that way. So why bother?

Oh, and I do have the tiniest bit of experience with "real" shooting, just so I don't completely talk out of my ass. Range shooting (air rifle), which sucked and parade shooting a Lee Enfield rifle which sucked a little less, but still not that great. Maybe that's the difference. I have enough empirical evidence to back up my argument for myself, but maybe others don't and need it?

I was more questioning the recreational side of gun fascination, not the concept of a gun as a tool for defense.

Though I could ask where do you live that personally defending yourself is a requirement that is reasonably expected to come up? And does your right go away if you don't own a gun? I don't mean to turn this into a big gun debate and I'm not anti-gun by any means but the idea some people claim, that it's unthinkable to not own a gun (not saying that's what you said, it just reminds me of it) I find strange.
