The unpopular opinions thread.

I dislike it when American holidays are pushed into other markets by marketing people as means to create new special events to increase sales. Especially when it mostly happens as just a way to theme some sale event without touching on things that the holidays are about. Many seem interested in taking part in these things, so I suppose it is bit unpopular to be the opposite. I am not saying I know what all the American holidays always are about or what their histories are, but that's kinda the point. People just throw a label or name many people may have heard in Hollywood movies to create interest without actually promoting the holiday in other ways and sharing information about it.

I only have two holidays that I am interested in, them being Midsummer and Christmas. While Christmas has suffered a bit, still those two keep some of their "magic". Rest have seemingly turned into events to sell some specific products that you'll rarely want to have at any other time of the year and are quite useless.
