I remember being very sad, I had only been on the forum for idk about 2 months and 19 days (thats really specific to say 'about' but in my defense the date I joined is a nice number so easy to remember  ) I remember feeling really disappointed because at that point I hadnt played much DA and I never got to talk about it much... although looking at today I still havent talked about it much, but im a total fangirl I also remember people in the ME3MP section freaking out and coming up with various ways they would get themselves permabanned... I tried to be a voice of reason (the first and only time thats ever happened ) and kept trying to calm people down and make the argument that it wouldnt accomplish anything, and it would be better to leave on a positive note instead of behaving like trolls ... but no one listened to me ofc I also remember (before it actually closed) being really worried because I had no idea where to go when the forum closed, I had no idea who Cyonan was at that point... although I did make a bit of a mistake by ignoring lots of warnings and joining a forum belonging to a certain someone after hearing nothing but bad things because I thought I would be nice and give them a chance... and when things went pretty haywire I joined this site. I was quite worried that everyone would split apart tbh, go on to different forums and we would never see each other again, especially since there were some people who I really connected with (and some people who I really didnt like... ANYWAY)... I was glad to see some familiar faces here, and ive made lots of new friends too  Although this isnt really my 'home' on the internet anymore, its somewhere I spend lots of my time Im also quite pleased im the 49th member... only 48 people joined before me  Out of 8,808... thats pretty good  |

It's all very vague, probably because I was shocked by the suddenness of it all. I felt very forlorn and wondered what would happen to everyone and where I could possibly get my daily bio-fix. I tried a couple of other forums who generously invited us during the exodus, but it wasn't until I found my way here that I felt we truly had a new home. Also, special call-out to Solas' OP in the Blanket Fort (Solas thread) - if you haven't read it you should, it's hilarious and truly captures our spirit!  |

I used the old forums to look up things about the games, but I had only just started to participate and actually post when they announced they were closing the forums. Truthfully the decision they made to close them still baffles me, but I am very happy with this 'new' home.  |

First of all, the title of this announcement gave me a heart attack. I thought it was to say this board was in trouble or closing down or something else disastrous. At least put ": A Retrospective" in the title, or something ... :gasp:
My only other comment is that I'm glad this board survived the FUD of the early days of the transition, when a half dozen competing boards sprung up over night. And I think that has a lot to do with the founding admins, who's steady hands made this a soft landing for the refugees of OG BSN. Thanks for that. Also a shout out to Fextralife, for archiving most of the content from the OG BSN.

My memory of that day is receiving my first permaban from BSN Prime that very night, as I was very distraught at the news, crawled to the bottom of a bottle, and drunk-posted a lot that night. Most of it was actually logical and respectful, albeit very critical of the decision. Then, I made the mistake of quoting a friend who said "fuck" in their post and added that since the forum was closing, we ought to burn couches during the anarchy. Apparently, one of the BioMods determined that was "inflammatory, inciting speech" and - with no warning points and a track record of only ever being a helpful community member - I was permabanned. Then the forum revolt REALLY got underway. LOL It was heartening to see so many rally at my apparent forum demise. Equally heartening was when BioWare itself became aware of what had happened. They were... not happy. And three devs spent that following Saturday morning figuring out how to un-permaban me (it had not been done before). They were successful, so I was able to enjoy the last days of BSN Prime while also luring folks over here to the unofficial lifeboat. Thus, the Drunk Turian Sentinel entered into legend as BSN Jesus. I very much still remember that. It was a signal moment that essentially epitomized what a lot of us were feeling at the time. If one of the most helpful people in the ME3MP sections was perma-banned for something I personally have gotten away with numerous times there was obviously something bat-shit-wrong with the whole scenario. (And really, there was.) |

EA run forums are way too victorian and prudish for my liking. I have a potty mouth sometimes but i'm hardly ever mean to people. It's well balanced here so i like it. I'd only been around there for a few months at the point so it was mostly a shrug of the shoulders. The only thing I remember being annoyed about was that I was going to lose access to the history there. Lots of information about the games, background, etc. would be gone.

And of course someone had to drag in politics in here. For clarity: Lol! My actual opinion is more middle of the road like Cassandra, but I'm not one to resist a metaphor if it feels right.  The new BSN does seem more peaceful and civil, and I wonder if that's because only the most devoted fans come here, our mods are fans and community members and are thus more invested, and/or that the developer isn't present as overlord for the disgruntled to abuse. |

I just remember being mostly numb. I was in the middle of a DA2 run, I think, and didn't feel like playing anymore. I deleted all my shortcuts for soundtracks on youtube - didn't want to listen to them. I visited a few of the other forums around but nothing felt like a place I wanted to call home so I stopped visiting them. After a few days, I saw someone mention this place and I checked it out. Still here, so I guess this is home now. |

I remember not being surprised at all, then helping Solas herd everyone from the Solas thread to a new forum (under the username mlady). I stayed here for 7 months after that and left recently. Can't believe it's already been a year since it all went crazy!

I wasn't on the forums then because there was too much drama after closing the off topic forum. I can't say I was surprised when I found out it was closed though, but I still think it's Bioware's/EA's fault that the forum kinda went to hell. The moderation was legitimately terrible, and if Bethesda can keep a forum up and going for as many years as they have, there's no reason Bioware can't.

In the past I use to stalk the old BioWare Forums daily, I then choose to join the site a week or so before it was closed down for good, it was just bad timing on my part
I know. At the time I was pretty upset cause I loved reading all the different Mass Effect topics (but now my focused has shifted to all things Dragon Age and Mass Effect).
