So Kallo, who sounds like he shares the same VA as that female Krogan...and Suvi. Are my Joker replacements in a way.-----hmmmm to that. Needed two to fill his shoes, hmm? Making my run off the group before I hit Eos. Makes sense to have the "hello" scenes out of the way before working together. I liked the scenes better not flirting with everyone to see if they stuck. I already know the only person I'm interested in is Jaal so it's nice to be friends right off the bat rather than pinging characters with sexual energy every time I talk.

Nice. Infiltrator setting highlights the baddies. Such a relief. Maybe someday I can up it to normal. This place is actually...kinda pretty for a desert. Hoorah, I got up the hill. I pushed random buttons until it happened. I've now gone further than my first attempt. Really? That's all he needed? a couple glyphs to decipher an entire language? Pushed her the heck off. Boundaries, PB. Boundaries. How did Peebee even get down on this planet.... Is the only way to switch out people is to go back to the ship? I accidentally brought Cora.

You have loadout options at all forward stations, so just pull up/fast travel to one in the Mako to change out weapons or squaddies.

Scanning planets can net you resources and XP, depending on what you find. Also some interesting tidbits in the planet and anomaly descriptions. I just like moving from planet to planet.....it's so pretty and relaxing.

Feeling a bit sheepish that I hated it so much when I first played it o-o Most of your research points come from scanning using your wrist scanner. Most of your mineral resources come from using the mining probe interface from the nomad and colllecting up the various mineral nodes you find on planets Most of your XP comes from completing missions and encounters with enemies Most of your other materials comes from containers and remains However, some amount of all of these can be obtained through planet scanning. How much you do of each depends on what you enjoy most doing. How much you need depends on how many new weapons or armors you want to research throughout the game. It's an open world... most things are optional but they do contribute something to the game as a whole. There are a couple of planet scanning tasks given to you during the game. One Task on Eos is "Naming the Dead" if you complete that and then talk to Majordome Bell-Scott, he'll give you a Heleus Assignment called "Doesn't Add Up." It requires just visiting 4 sites and then scanning two locations in orbit laters, but it tells a real story connected to what happened with the settlers of site 1 and 2... worth doing if you're wanting to figure out that little optional "mystery." This is the case with a large portion of the little side quests... they connect together to form little optional side stories connected to the main plot of the game. It takes some time and effort sometimes (and a little luck sometimes to do them in a "good" order) to put the little pieces together; but I found it worthwhile and it actually helped me to get into the story better. It's much the same as the Witcher 3 (but there my experience was that the little stories drew me away from the main story... probably because I just wasn't as "into" the overall premise and era of TW3 to start with. I know you like to play very quickly, so I think you'll probably find that you just won't collect enough of the pieces to get into of the little task/side missions stories. You may, as a result, have more fun, just mainlining it as much as possible. My first playthrough was about 150 hours long.

Or why Ryder doesn't have an option to get in th asaris face about being knocked to the ground. Or knocking the asari to the ground to see if she likes that happening to her. I'm sure if Ryder had that option, the asari wouldn't ask to join the roster. Yep.

If you don't want to scan resources, just start doing strike teams religiously. They net tons of mats and gear over time and you don't have to scan a thing. I like that, because it can be done on non-gaming time.
For my first character I was playing a Sentinel style profimple, because I prefer crowd control and could never snipe ever. Powers imo are way easier to use than guns. Second one was a Vanguard, and it was awesome, but I always favor vgs.
I've played the right sided (logical professional) girl Ryder first, and was not that much of a fan, because imo the voice does not fit it. My second male Ryder was leftsided, emotional casual with making all evil choices, and that one was awesome and fit the VA as a complete young scoundrel.
edit: I also suggest you upgrade Nomad before anything else. It makes driving a lot of fun & you can ay the whole game w/o crafting anything for Ryder anyway on the two lowest difficulty settings.

Also, I would be instinctually pushing someone off me right off the bat so it's a bit weird Ryder just lays there like they're knocked out when they aren't It is rather bit more than she needed to do to get you to stop interacting with the object. Grabbing your arm would have been enough- no need for a full body blow. Two options of "yes, PB, join" is And I noticed that Vetra invited Drack, he refused, then later decided to join. Decision was totally out of Ryder's hands it felt. Thinking on it, I feel like I'm playing a customizable "Geralt". The character is well out of my hands when it comes to history, auto dialogue, and who I get to sign on to the mission. And it doesn't really make sense why. Ryder is Pathfinder and directly in charge of Pathfinder things; who is on the team should be 100% Ryder's decision.

Well, I kinda have to agree with this though. Ryder is way more out of your hands than Shepard was. Most of the time, you just get to decide how to say things rather then what to say. It's fine most of the time but there are a few instances where this is annoying.
Also, trying to answer a few outstanding questiosn: How did PB get to Eos? She'll eventually explain how she got herself s shuttlecraft if you keep talking to her.
Is scanning planets useful? I'd say yes. It's an easy way to get XP and resources. You'll akways know whether or not there is something to scan right away, so all it takes is moving to the spot and press a button. Also, the galaxy map is so awesome to look at, I enjoy zipping around all the planets, comets and anomalies.

I compare the "Pathfinder" role to that of Inquisitor. Before you even get the title of Quiz, you're making decisions because the governing body (Cass/Cullen/Jose/Lel) = (Anderson, Tann, F. Krogan and...M. Turian) can't make decisions. Except in this game, you start with the title and a clean manual on what the title requires. You even have a companion trained in the job to co boss with you until you get your feet (Cora.) The Herald had Blackwall, Sera, Iron Bull, and Viv to optionally take in, and this was even before they were Quiz, with all the supposed rights that came with that. And Iron Bull was a self proclaimed expensive mercenary company, and you could unilaterally hire them with a wave at Josephine to figure out where that was going to come out of the budget. Compare that to Vetra inviting Drack to join up when all he did (at that point, from the perspective of Ryder) is throw a dead lizard dog into the room and yank a tooth out. In a world where The Nexus is literally concerned about imminent starving in the area where a settlement failed twice. You can't just be taking any mouth on to feed. And the whole oddness of Peebee asking to be part of the group and there not being a choice to say no. That's not illusion of choice, that's just weird writing. Like they had originally planned to make her optional, then accidentally gave her too much content (the sexy kind?) to make her an optional character any longer so they yanked the "no" option out of the line up.
I tried the trial back in March, I hated the trial. I haven't hung out on the MEA forum pages, so maybe what I'm saying is what you guys have already heard, and defended against, before. Not fighting you on anything about it all... just giving you my take on how I put it together. I figure they wrote early Ryder as being the least likely one to have been thrust into the pathfinder position... but dads have a thing about saving their kids, so it was a snap decision made by a pop. Vetra would have known all about Drack's background and she's a take charge kind of girl, so yeah, she's out of line inviting Drack; but I do see that as right in keeping with her character. As for PeeBee, my Ryder was instantly smitten, so turning her away was never an option he even remotely considered.

Well, you can knock her off of you After 20 seconds. And even than its more of a shove than anything else. She says don't like being sat on. Like everyone should be ok with it. Yeah. Where's the second interrupt for Ryder to get in the asari's face and ask how she would feel if she was knocked down? Be nice if that threat is followed by action. Like pulling the asari off Ryder. If she were to knock me to the ground.....lets just say she won't be worried about remnant stuff anymore. Once reaching that spot, if Ryder walks around, there's a shuttle. Is the asari in it? If so, why didn't she get out at that time? Why didn't she stop Ryder the first time Ryder touches the console? That's when the sam voice thing tells Ryder to find glyphs to activate it. If the asari saw Ryder walking around, with two others, who have weapons, wouldn't she be aware not to do anything that could get her in trouble? Or is it because she's just stupid? The way the scene plays out is Ryder is a spineless little wimp who can't stand up for him/herself. If I was on the squad, my first reaction would be how can you be in a leadership position if you can't stand up for yourself? I'm not asking Ryder to shoot the asari, though I wouldn't complain, but to say hey, you can't do that. I will add that Ryder's father recently died. So he/she would not be in the best of moods. The asari knocking the rookie over could make things worse. Yeah I know. The asari doesn't know about that, but then again the asari should know better than believing its ok to knock people to the ground Liam will also mention having a krogan on the squad I was surprised that Drack wanted to join when a short time earlier he had no interest. I would have made the asari and Drack optional to recruit.

I was thinking that, instead of just "Female Ryder vs Male Ryder" They should have included a little blurb about the backgrounds your character had. I find it really irritating to here my character go on about why she's good at shooting things and all the prothean artifacts. I don't know what Scott goes on about, but I'm sure it also explains his "skills."
Female Ryder: Liara Wannabe Male Ryder: ???
Why did they break from the Shepard mold of getting to pick your childhood/adult career history?
