I guess fans got what they wished for, Mass Effect is now fully back in BW Edmonton hands. It's just unknown how many BW Edmonton devs are working on ME:A. It's just, rather upsetting. Especially since this merger was undergoing for pretty much past year. So reception to ME:A is completely irrelevant to faith of SP Story DLC's, it is this merger. So if DLC's are canned, they got canned long before ME:A was even put on Gold.If this is the case, and I'm not saying it isn't, why string everyone along for nearly 5 months at this point, with all the "we'll talk about dlc when we can" tweets? If it turns out that is what's happened, EA are burning a lot of bridges...

Looks like more and more evidence that dlc is dead. RIP Andromeda Serza is away. I will fulfill his duty. It's like deja vu. I feel like I've seen that Tweet before...a couple of times, actually.

Sounds like bait. Anyway if there's no DLC it's likely because of the big releases rather than reception.

I don't care if it's Bioware Zimbabwe. I just want Quarian sp DLC so I can assuage my guilt over inadvertantly causing Tali's suicide and the obliteration of the Quarians during my first playthrough of Me:3 Does BioWare Zimbabwe get into as many hijinks and shenanigans as Dominos Zimbabwe? Well, unless you count that one time Lead Warlord of Level Design Marlon Katsande decided to "remove" key staff, absolutely not.

Why leave the Quarian Ark stuff in, then? No idea. They even teased Quarian Ark after release with one of MP events. So either BW Edmonton will created some DLC, if not fully pledged expansion, or just gross incompetence on someone's part at BioWare. If this is the case, and I'm not saying it isn't, why string everyone along for nearly 5 months at this point, with all the "we'll talk about dlc when we can" tweets? If it turns out that is what's happened, EA are burning a lot of bridges... As I said above, either BW Edmonton is putting resources and manpower to create ME:A DLC's or full pledged expansion, or a massive incompetence on EA's part.

SofNascimento, you're linking individual job performance with financial success. It makes sense, but it's out of context. Who knows why they're gone. Maybe HR is doing their job. Maybe... they've been recruited out of there. It's all speculation at best. And by the way, it was 14 leads and a whole lot more than that in lower-level developers that left DURING production. So, if they're going now... they either exhausted all of their good will or their good will was bought out by a competitor. I hate to see BW Montreal folded up but there's does appear to have been some dysfunction in that office. As you said, EA seems to have been happy with the financial performance of ME:A, going by their Q1 FY18 call, but EA doesn't appear to have been pleased with Montreal or, I think, MEAMP.Well. when you do the bare minimum with your mp. What did they think was going to happen? For the record, I put a lot of hrs into ME3MP. It was new for the franchise, its just the same mp with a different coat of paint that I already put hrs upon hrs into.

With Edmonton working on Anthem and Dragon Age, I can't see much possibility of a team there working on MEA as well. Although, to be fair, Anthem is shared with Austin and Dragon Age hasn't been announced yet, so it's not impossible. Management incompetence, however, is an entirely plausible explanation...

If DLC is coming, this merger could be the reason it's taking so long. There is precedent for DLC being delayed because of some other issue. Leviathan for example was released later than intended because they had to do something about the ending fiasco.

I really like MEAMP but I can't put the same time into it that I could ME3MP...mainly because my situation is different than it was 5 yrs ago. Still, this iteration of MP doesn't appear to be hooking people like the last one. I imagine remaking MP in Frostbite couldn't have been easy, trying to recapture what made the original so addictive, so I feel for the dev's who worked on it.

Yeah 'Bioware Montreal' is donezo. The hope remains that some studio has been making stuff in the meantime, even as things phase into Motive/SW, Anthem, and building up DA.
This is the same company that had Austin do a DA DLC.
But we have nothing substantial to go with. By all direct *appearances*, sure, I don't blame people for thinking that the SP is done, and MP is a gradual drawdown.
But I surely damn well wish that Bioware'd want to make SP/MP money over the rest of this year and into next year, before Anthem. And I feel spurned as a customer for them putting so many plot hooks without giving us any information about how and when these hooks will be satisfied. Ouch. At least if there is 1-3 SP DLCs, I can go 'well, some stuff was addressed, and hopefully a sequel/future game can be announced sometime that'll deal with the rest in its own way'.
EDIT: I consider MEA MP, as a casual (Bronze/Silver, a bit Gold, never Platinum), to be a bit of a step up from ME3. But that's disappointing after this many years. I do appreciate some cool options and more mobility and some of the graphics. It just feels like something, technically and in design, that should have released say 2014-2015 instead of 2017. But I feel that way about so much of the game. Good, but launch issues and in the end, I can't consider it great. But I don't regret playing. I'd still be playing MEA MP and may return, but I've been busy playing Secret World Legends and may check out the new version of Path of Exile.

Why people equate this move as no dlc, I have no idea. When the word dlc has never been mentioned once in the report or by BioWare themselves. Like, BioWare didn't post a blog post stating: "As a result of the merger, single player downloadable content will not be coming to Mass Effect: Andromeda." All they've said officially is that people have been moved to EA Motive. There website is still up, by the way. Take that for what you will.

I'd be very happy if MEA was taken up by Edmonton as they make a (delated) set of DLC over the coming months then leave the series to hiatus while getting out 1-2 more games then re-establish the series to return in early 2020s, barring exceptionally successful performance of Anthem (EA: ANTHEM 24/7 $$$$$!!!!).

Well EA still did test the market for ME:A recently. Free 10 Hour trial, free copies of ME:A at Nvidia GeForce, big sale on Origin store, a small re-launch of the game with 1.09 patch and more. So, there is activity to marketing ME:A. It's just unknown what numbers did EA got. What will they decide to do now? As well you don't need a full development team to work on ME:A SP DLC, it's just a question now will or is BioWare Edmonton doing it, whatever or not with collaboration with BW Austin. I don't know, I'm just really upset by this development in general. Even if ME:A was a massive hit, this merger would have still happen.
