Sad news. RIP Corey. As a great Turian once said, "May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're dead." To those who knew him and may end up reading this thread, be assured he made a positive difference to many people's lives. The fact the MP section of BSN Prime was an entirely different environment from the rest of the forum speaks volumes about the part of the game Corey helped create, and to some extent those who play it. It was and is almost universally loved, and we are still holding the line here, sharing war stories and build advice and generally accepting that lightning was indeed captured in a bottle. It's not perfect, but it's pretty damn close. In a world where the bottom line appears to be the sole consideration for the corporate suits, and the cause of much wailing and gnashing of teeth among increasingly frustrated gamers, it's heartening to be reminded that Corey and the team he worked with actually loved what they were doing, and managed to create something of outstanding quality where profit appeared to be a secondary consideration.
ME3 MP became much more than 'just a game' to me, it became a way of life. It still is, 3000+ hours on, something I seem incapable of tiring of. Particularly for someone like myself with bad health, time spent doing something you love can never be considered a waste of time. Genuine fun is priceless, vital nourishment for the soul. I've always believed that co-operation is better than competition, in all walks of life beyond individual sports, and gaming is no different for me. I was initially terrified of playing multiplayer, and was one of those who questioned its validity in a Mass Effect game. It took me a while for the penny to drop that all my Shepards naturally gravitated towards uniting the galaxy in its entirety against the Reaper threat, so my unwillingness to do so with other real life players was slightly paradoxical. I finally accepted that there was nothing wrong with the concept of the Galaxy at War rating, and that it might actually turn out to be fun to raise it to 100%, just as long as I didn't suck too much.
My initial resistance was futile anyway as the attraction of playing as a Krogan eventually proved too strong, and before I knew it I was heavily addicted, making friends on BSN and from among the random pugs I would regularly exchange 'Good Game' messages with. The variety on offer and the attention to detail in crafting the individual species has brought me so much joy I wouldn't know where to start picking highlights, but I'll finish by saying I look forward to a new highlight every time I play, and that will continue when I take my green and black Havoc into battle and respectfully remember his creator. For Palaven, and for Corey.

I'm sorry for Corey's family. I know it's hard to replace someone like that. I just hope there is some comfort in knowing he had a lasting legacy that can be easily seen.
I was one of those ME3MP beta players that was blown away from the start. I was eagerly anticipating the game and completely dived into both aspects. I had a blast with the weekend challenges. It also enabled me to make friends with some great people (one of them from Ohio, is coming to hang out this weekend). It also helped me make friends with someone who lived only 15 miles away (Younger, but cool guy)!
I have never been as proud in any game as I was of getting Best of the Best. I'm not a super amazing player, but I managed to take that Kroguard and smash through Geth like you wouldn't believe to get my 2 gold solos in my friend's living room (his internet was more stable than mine).
I will do my best to participate in the challenge. I gotta see if I have the Havoc yet on PS3 (swapped over from 360 a couple of years back). If not I may get Gold just to throw down some matches for old time's sake. Otherwise, I will honor him with my TSoldier or TSentinel.
I also finished all of DAO's dlc and story in a new playthrough. It has been a wonderful new run and I'm glad to know Corey had a hand in so many great games.

Wow, sad news. RIP, Mr. Gaspur.
As far as the topic, I wouldn't even know where to begin so I'll just say this: I've been a gamer for over 20 years, and ME3MP is far and away the best gaming experience I've ever had, and ME3 is my favorite game by a mile. Nothing comes close, and I've played some fantastic games over the years. Truly a special game and a remarkable achievement.

Well, damn. My condolences to Corey's friends and family. As far as ME3 MP goes, well, picking a memory would be difficult. How about the entirety of the time I played over the last five years? Most games I play for about a month or two before abandoning, but somehow I've been playing ME3 MP ever since the demo. Suffice to say ME3 MP is the best online game I've played, and that is in no small part to the fact that the gameplay remains consistently fun and engaging even after playing almost 4000 matches. So thank you Corey for having a hand in creating such a fantastic experience, and rest in peace. Here's my Turian Havoc Salute:

ME3 MP is something special, especially considering at the time PvP was the rage (still is?) and fans were decrying the effort being spent on the MP element, when they felt that resource should be on SP. It weaves in really well with the SP and a lot of people have said it was dipping their toe into a MP game for the first time and simply enjoyed it. Maybe that says it all; something to be proud of. I'll naturally be around this weekend.

Rest in peace, Corey. My heart goes out to his friends and family, too. Personally, I'm pretty new to ME3 MP -- just started a couple months ago. Up until I read this thread, I hadn't really thought about playing the Havoc I unlocked a few days ago. Well, that was a mistake, and a bit shameful considering my origin ID. I took him out for the first time last night, and he was completely awesome. Instantly among my favorite kits. If anyone on PC wants to add me for Havoc runs this weekend, I'm in. I've been looking for some friends to play with . Fact of the matter is, people are still playing this game and have been since 2012, and noobs like me are still getting into it and having a great time with it. That's a legacy and achievement to be proud of.

I've been away a long time but I read about this yesterday and had to acknowledge. Rest well Corey and thank you for helping create a game and MP that helped me get through a rough 2012. I'm going to try my best to hop on ME3 this weekend and Havok in your name.

Sad news, and it is hard to say anything but that it's sad. The game is awesome, and was pretty much the most intuitive and easy to start and keep playing MP content I've tried & added something special to the verse, the chance to spend time with characters that were not Shepard and his/her heroic allies vas Normandy & not just from the respectable species, but the misfits, and comedic relief, the scum, and, well, that's unforgettable.
Farewell, and peace.

Well, I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is I got my game capture card hooked back up to my PS3 and it's performing nicely. The bad news is that I have no way of charging my PS3 controllers, apparently. At first, I thought I had a controller going bad because I had left it on the charger all night, but it acted like it had no charge. So, I tried playing with it plugged into the charger, which it was able to do, but any small jostle disconnects it, so the Silver warm-up match I did consisted of tons of cursing and constant controller disconnects/reconnects. No fun at all. Went up to GameStop and bought a refurbished controller (no new ones available). Wanted to buy another charging cable, too, just in case, but they had none. Plugged the "new" controller in to charge... and that's when I noticed the charging lights blinking for a few minutes... and then going out. No connection. Tried charging through my laptop instead, in case my USB ports on my PS3 had gone bad. Nope. Bad cord. And none to be had in town. And Amazon cannot deliver sooner than Monday. So, I'll still try to catch some of you for games and record some matches, but it's gonna be uuuugly on my end. And frustrating. But hopefully in between my controller disconnect screens, I can get enough decent Havoc footage to piece together a memorial video. Sorry, Corey. You deserve better.

I've never had any problems charging a PS3 controller with a standard USB cable, so I hope that works. I also have a spare PS4 controller paired with my PS3. When I play ME3 the only complication is the requirement to have them both on so that I can pop in and out of the game for messages - the PS4 controller has no PS3 button, so once you're in the game, you're in the game, if you know what I mean.
I had the most epic of games last night on Xbox which I think may be appropriate to mention in this thread in the absence of any footage. My Havoc landed on Ghost at the end of wave 1, and noted 'Havoc Strike' in the killfeed as I discovered the host was also kitted out in black and green (with a red pattern) and we were set for a duo against the Geth. I was using a Graal, while the host had an Eagle. We had a hack in the upper back room and an escort, which went smoothly enough and I could say I contributed well, but my game completely fell apart after that, and I spent a good portion of waves 7,8 and 9 in Spectator Mode, having rage-gelled a little too much when an erratic pug had joined us for a bit around wave 5. By the time wave 10 came I was determined to do my bit, and when we got devices I was responsible for my fair share. I had wanted to keep all my rockets for extraction but with double Primes in front of me while health-gated, I considered them fair game, especially after some of the most typical Geth BS I've encountered in a long time. Those Hunters, seriously. I've gone for a full melee approach, and they make it really tough.
Extraction wave was without incident, and with a second left on the clock I fired a Cobra high into the sky, saying my own thanks to Corey for his part in creating such a fantastic game. I won't forget that moment for a long time.
I also sent the host a 'sorry about that' message, as I really did suck a lot of the time. The game wasn't laggy, but a Graal off-host is a Graal off-host, and it can be pretty frustrating. SAVAN7 X, I think was the name, and even allowing for my abject performance, I saw some pretty impressive skills while spectating - in many ways it was a more appropriate tribute than my own, watching the Havoc dancing around the map backwards, frankly toying with the toasters for the most part. Well played, and it seems unlikely to have been merely a coincidence, as you don't run into too many Havocs in the wild.
I'll be back for more later. And tomorrow. And the day after....

I got my tribute run done in Pugland on Gold after two disconnected attempts. I just decided to make it easy and host. We ended up with Collectors on Hazard Ghost. I even managed to save all of my rockets for the Finale.

I'm... not good with words when it comes to occasions like this. But here goes nothing. Didn't knew Corey. Never heard of him, actually, before this thread. And like many others, I only got into multiplayer mode to get that "perfect" ending in single player. I don't know what happened. Don't know *when* it happened. Joined the BSN boards because I wanted to talk about SP, the endings, the romances... all the things that captured my heart in this franchise. Somewhere down the line, I figured SP is getting all serious business and somehow, I found myself in the MP section of the forum. It was scary. I was a n00b, couldn't held myself in bronze and these people were playing gold and above. Somehow, I managed to stay, even if my instinct was to run as far away as possible. Slowly but surely, I learned the mechanics, by reading, observing, trying and dying all over again. And one day I figured out... hey, I'm actually getting decent at this. I'm enjoying it. And despite all the grief the game has given me(and continues to give me), there is a charm to it. Something that can't be planned, something that can only develop on it's own, through trial and error. It's not perfect, but then again, nothing good ever is. You gotta take the good with the bad and endure through tough times. And even though it breaks your heart sometimes, you know you wouldn't have it any other way. Multiplayer allowed me to try characters other than Shepard. It allowed me to see the war through the eyes of the little man, the one who bleeds and cries and, despite all the hardship, all the looses, all the pain... just keeps on going. Because there's nothing else a soldier can do. Shepard may have been the tip of the spear, but a tip is useless without a well balanced shaft. We were that shaft. We held back the Reapers, fighting, loving, dying... We held the line. And I'm told Corey was the one that enabled that. Some men leave their mark on the world through the suffering they cause, others through making our lives just a little bit better. Corey was in the latter camp. How many times have a came home after a hard working weekend to cheer myself on the battlefields on the Milky Way. It's a gift that keeps on giving, without expecting much in return. Didn't play Havoc for far too long. Dusted the old boy today and recolored him to green/black combo, to pay tribute properly. Luck would have I ran into lovely DragonRacer and our two Havocs wrought much havoc on Cerberus in their facility on Noveria, during the blizard. Smooth game and missiles went flying before extraction, with many heavy melee exchanged between waves. Wanted to play more, but servers decided not to cooperate. Perhaps it's better that way. Wouldn't want to overdo it. Corey, thanks for your work and for all the fun you have given us.

Managed to get a memorial match done, but I'd be looking to do more if people are about when I can get on. Dropped GIP and although the match went well I didn't extract as I had a missile out ready to fire right when I got downed. Got up with 2 s on the clock, fired a missile to the sky, but it wasn't fast enough to make extraction:( Will try again later
