Still a bit shocked some hated ME2 on this level...i thought it was the best in the franchise... Why are you shocked? I was fortunate to play all 3 games at once, rather than spaced out over 6 years or whatever it was. That means my first memory of mass effect was not me2, which i dont think is true for a lot of people. I like to think that means i can look at it without the attendant emotional baggage of it being my entry point. Strip away all of that and you have what is described above: A series of character moments vaguely tied together with a nonsensical plot. The combat (remember how useless biotics are), railroading in plot, planet scanning and mini Normandy piloting, lack of inventory and meaningful gun choices, stripped down progression system, binary choice in dialogue to hit the morality checks, ridiculous level design with waist high wall-o-rama.. ugh I can go on. Still, you get to push that guy out of the window. Still was a more well recieved game than MEA and one that won many awards. So obviously it did something right.

Still, you get to push that guy out of the window. I actually agree with most of this - though I would say those are the reasons I consider it the most overrated game in the franchise. Being overrated doesn't necessarily mean it's bad. Its loyalty missions and sheer range of levels are so far ahead of ME1 it's unreal, and the character development was exceptional. But the fact remains one of the main reasons ME3 remains my favourite game in the franchise is that it fixed loads of the goofs that ME2 introduced - biotics weren't useless against defences any more, there were legitimate skill options with a decent level cap, it visited even more parts of the galaxy and it gave the answers I was after. People crying about a lot of MEA's character dev and storyline seem to have forgotten ME2, tbh.

Apart from Cassandra, Dorian and Sera I found DA:I to be worse on nearly every level to be honest. It seemed to me that in DA:I they forgot about the actual game part. Endless trudging across another landscape fighting repeating spawns of mobs was not fun, especially when the combat is not exactly great to begin with. Probably explain why I never finished it. Funny cause I recalled myself ALSO trudging across another landacape fighting repeating spawns of Kett in MEA. Only difference is that I had the Nomad and thus didnt have to walk like in DAI. I could have sworn we had mounts in DAI. Too many mounts, in fact.

One aspect MEA improved upon at least.

If you were trudging in the Nomad you were doing it wrong; if you decided to stop and fight every kett spawn rather than just drive past then that's your choice also. Trudging is much harder to avoid in DA:I, especially with all the shards and rifts and elfroot and letters and camps and red lyrium and tapestry and wine bottles and star puzzle things and oh yeah there's that bad guy what's his face, what were we grinding again to unlock the next bit of plot?

That depends on what you do in your playthrough. I completed several playthroughs without having to collect any shards, elfroot, wine bottles, tapestries. Yes I closed rifts, but that is one of the easiest way to get power points. I've completed a few playthroughs where I only explored Hinterlands, Western Approach, not the whole region, and Crestwood.

Damn, did he really say biotics are useless in ME2? This guy knows less than Jon Snow. He hates TW3 and ME2, but loves ME:A.
A suggestion, vonuber: go play Ride to Hell: Retribution. You'll probably love that game.

Is there a good reason people are still complaining about a video game they didn't like? I can understand something like that if it periodically comes up in conversation... "Hey, remember X... man did that suck..." but to actively seek out a fan site then bitch for months... even create threads... for months... that's weird. Go play a game you like. That's what normal people do.

You're forgetting charge, which is one of the coolest biotic abilities in the whole series (even if only a Vanguard can use it). Charge + shotgun on the face was lovely on ME2. Singularity was good to get some annoying enemies out of cover (ironically it's actually useless now in Andromeda, because now you can just jump on them, LOL.). Throw was ocasionally useful (I usually combined it with charge: charge an enemy and then make Samara throw the guys at his side so they wouldn't shoot me. Same for Jack and her shockwave. Again, in Andromeda it becomes useless, because I charge and melee everything with asari sword or shotgun on their face or use consumable).

Yep, and we can point to the polls as the game was "well received" in general...and we can point to the investor calls saying "significant contributor"...but the Yongyea's of YouTubeland will spin the positive into criticism which will then be regurgitated here. I think I need a patreon so people will take me seriously

I was forgetting Charge because I don't really like it. (I'm not 100% certain that I actually played my ME2 Vanguard through ME3.) Sounds like our playstyles are diametrically opposed. Anyway, you get the point -- against enemies without barriers an Adept or Sentinel plays like a weak Soldier with a finishing move. You've got some marginally-useful abilities, but most of your fighting has to be done with weapons.

I mean I look at Totalbiscuit's review of ME:A he went over what was good about the game, and what was bad about the game, saying it's a good game, but it's VERY VERY flawed, to which I agree. I don't agree with some of the reviews, but I feel several of the base criticisms are valid, they just get very overblown thanks to the internet. (Still unsure why people were saying that the game had bad voice acting, was it because of a few moments and a couple characters?)

I dont see much negativity around Horizon, Breathe of the Wild, The Last of Us, KOTOR and Witcher 3. All I see is praise for those games with a few patches of negativity here and there. So that proves that the internet can be thankful whenever the product is of great quality. Nice try though;)
