Id argue the trilogy as a whole is solid, despite weaknesses in each game. Yeah, I said it. the only way Mass Effect is a masterpiece is when you put all three together. Agreed, although the first act really tests my patience these days!

Yeah, I said it. the only way Mass Effect is a masterpiece is when you put all three together. funny i know i say this a lot...but i Have the exact opposite impression. The three ME games are great by themselves...ME 2 is a masterpiece and MEA is just a hair below that... But when you combine all three games together is when you start seeing a LOT of problems. The MET , as a trilogy, may actually be one of the worse examples out there, imo, in hind sight.

I'm telling you. 1.09 renewed my confidence in BioWare. My confidence needed renewing though. The miserable launch coupled with Inquisition's miserable launch for PC last time. I just thought all the wrong things and made a lot of awful assumptions, but some of my patreon recipients were sending out the very same negative stuff. I've switched recipients quite a bit this month because my skepticism meter threw too many red flags up. 1.09 can stand on its own legs despite what was said five months ago. The consensus is changing and I noticed it. The shop in this podunk town is running the game and online. I was jealous. The game is great. Three playthroughs and I'm the Pathfinder. I want more. Oh that's awesome to hear! I need to do another playthrough, but I'm waiting on some PC upgrades to get installed before I do. I want to see Andromeda in all it's High Res glory. Even on the lowest setting, I thought the planets were beautiful. I've always enjoyed the stories in BioWare games, so I figured I'd like Andromeda. I got to start playing Monday night before the official release day and just loved the journey I was being taken on. That's something I've found consistent with their games, for me. I know it's not the same for everyone, and that's fair enough. I agree! Bioware almost always does a phenomenal job with making the journey throughout their games amazing! Lucky you getting to play Andromeda on PC

I think people were a bit too harsh when compared to this..... Detailed and informative vid that touched on that game's strengths.....nicely done.... and i agree with everything you stated. Andromeda needed to take some cues from this game...best in the franchise. I mentioned in another thread that i'm replaying ME2 now and i know some might say folks look at that game through rose-colored lens (i guess that's the saying?) but that does not apply to this game...story, characters, character interaction, depth, and design was all done incredibly well here. Play Andromeda then go back and play ME2....the difference will be night and day.....and again Andromeda was never going to be bigger and better than the Reaper storyline, but it's characters, storyline and narrative could have been waaay better.... Haha wow you found my other video I made on Mass Effect 2! Thank you for the compliments! I had been waiting to make a video like that for Mass Effect 2 for years! Finally got a chance and I think it turned out well! Glad you liked it!

Huh?. Two of the main plot missions being related to the main plot makes story "cohesive"? ME:A could pass that test easily. Better than ME2, because the ME:A loyalty missions are more related to the plot than ME2's. ME2 had no story to speak of and that's the beauty of it. It was almost entirely companion based, which made it such a memorable experience, since it played to Bioware's strength.

Better ME1 outfits? The things that looked like wetsuits? snip Wetsuits, you say? When I had some leftover BioWare points, I got that one alternate appearance pack specifically for Miranda's armor. It was direly needed. Now I only have to ignore Jack's leather bikini. Only bad thing about the armor is that the merc captains comment about "Cerberus letting her whore around in that outfit" doesn't make that much sense anymore. I still change Miri back into one of her catsuits when I meet up with her on the Normandy though. I like to think of them as her casual outfits. As for ME1, some of the light armors did look like wetsuits though. Especially with the huge helmets on, they tended to look a bit ridiculous. Fortunately there is a glitch in the game which allows you to equip any armor class on any character, so I give them all at least medium armor as soon as possible.

ME 2 is my favorite of the Mass Effects. Though i must note the entire series has been style >substance. If anything Andromeda is reversing that trend. minje as well really as I rank them 1. ME2 2. ME3 3. MEA 4. ME1 But tbh I love all 4 of them really but each for different reasons. Yeah I think my rank would be the same as yours! Obviously very subjective but to me ME1 might have had a great story but now days when I try and play the gameplay is just terrible, at-least the gameplay in Andromeda is a lot of fun!

Plus a crapton of new characters they'll then need to try to shoehorn into the final game somehow, but won't be able to satisfy everyone who took an ME2 LI.

When Mass Effect Andromeda launched it wasn't a finished game. Bioware and EA pushed a game out the door that was clearly not done. And yes the backlash it got for this was fair. I can't see how anyone is trying to defend Bioware for releasing a game in the condition they released Andromeda.
Yes after all the patches the game today is in a better place than it was in March. Too bad the game today should have been the game they released at launch. And even with the patches there are still many glaring issues with the game that can not be fixed. The story is still weak. The pacing is still poor. The game still is full of meaningless fetch quests. Every Asari but Peebee still shares the same face. And the general faces are still below standard for a AAA title. Inquisition looks better and it came out 3 years before Andromeda.
Overall the game has gotten better, but it sure as hell is nowhere near perfect. And no EA or Bioware shouldn't be given a pass for the game they released.

Yeah I agree I think ME1 has probably the strongest story of the 4 games but comes short for me in just about every other area tbh compared with the other 3. Although tbh I think the way MEA's characters work I think I find I click with them better than I do the characters as they stood in ME1 as for me I feel at least the characters even my favourites Liara, Garrus and Tali I don't think I clicked with them properly until ME2 because for me that's when the characters for me find their feet and become the characters I love. Whereas I kind of liked and clicked with MEA's almost immediately Not so much on my first playthrough because what with fighting through the bugs and figuring out how to complete the main story. I don't think I really concentrated enough on trying to get to know them that well but certainly on my second and 3rd runs I really started to like them. The only one for me I kind of not really get along with is Peebee but then I struggle to like Sera too in DAI which probably explains it really in that their quirks are just a little too much for me.

Apart from Cassandra, Dorian and Sera I found DA:I to be worse on nearly every level to be honest. It seemed to me that in DA:I they forgot about the actual game part. Endless trudging across another landscape fighting repeating spawns of mobs was not fun, especially when the combat is not exactly great to begin with. Probably explain why I never finished it. Funny cause I recalled myself ALSO trudging across another landacape fighting repeating spawns of Kett in MEA. Only difference is that I had the Nomad and thus didnt have to walk like in DAI.
