As someone who loved both DAI & MEA, and who has a preference for ME over DA, I do still think DAI is the better game.
It's definitely more polished and 'complete' feeling, and the areas within the game feel like they have far more history and depth, rather than everything just being 'what's here now' or 'really really old'. Plus the companion and supporting characters definitely feel like they have more going on with them and a lot more to say about things as the game progresses.
That said, MEA definitely improved on some of my issues with DAI - none of the planets feel like a dumping ground for sidequests that you can mop up, leave, and never have a reason to come back. Plus MEA has way more cutscene conversations, and those that do use the 'conversation camera' are helped by it zooming in far more than it did in DAI.
On the more negative side, neither DAI or MEA have the best storylines of their franchises for me, but on the other hand, I felt both games definitely feel like franchise peaks in terms of actual gameplay; both are the most enjoyable of the bunch to actually run around and do stuff. I'd honestly say I feel like both games are the right directions for their franchises; they just (in the case of ME especially) need a bit more time and thought put into how the story is implimented into the open world style, which I honestly think does fit both series very well, especially DA.

Yes, DAI remembers what sets Bioware apart from other RPGs: strong character writing. I also appreciate the thicc lore.

DAI is a pretty clear winner for me. I'm still going back and playing it, where with Andromeda I'm already sort of done (unless they add more content).
I did like combat and certain aspects of the open world better in Andromeda, but the characters and story I like better in DAI. Environment design I liked a lot better in DAI also (even the desert areas were better than MEA).
I enjoy MEA, but I loved DAI.

For my money, DAI is a better game. It's more expansive, there's a lot of meat there, and everything feels a bit more polished and cleaned up. It has some issues (Time to ignore Corephyus forever without a particularly good excuse for doing so) and the sidequests aren't as beefy as MEA. But everything's more reactive and immersive. There's also more variety, and the combat is probably better from a technical standpoint. I feel like DAI is pretty damn good, and probably deserves to be Bioware's bestseller.
But I LIKE Andromeda more, despite being a sword and sorcery dork in my shriveled little heart. I like its tryhard little soul.
Feelings are weird and dumb.

On a rough scale I would give ME:A an 8 and DA:I a 7. I generally don't like open world games so found both frustrating and tedious at times. Both were a bit disappointing compared to what I expected, both were filled with flaws, but both still had enough fun moments to make them worth playing.

DAI had:
Access to more abilities (still not enough though)
Better dialogue and tones
A more interesting story
Less baggage to flee from

Inquisition wasn't well received? Technically? What? It has much better scores, has game of the year awards and is Biowares #1 selling game. Not well received? Pfft.
Inquisition is better than Andromeda by three times as much for me, I can at least have a desire to replay it.

Inquisition was a 6/10, Andromeda is a 4/10. Pretty sad that you can't handle my opinions on these games. Reeks of insecurity and pettiness.

Inquisition is better than Andromeda by three times as much for me, I can at least have a desire to replay it. The only information I can find is that it was "BioWare's best launch", not "BioWare's best selling game". If you have sources indicating that it was its best I would like to have them for my records. Edit: Didn't Inquisition only get those awards for that year was horrible for gaming? I always saw that being brought up when people were talking about that before.

No, I like MEA much more. 4 playthroughs and counting compared to one tells it all. DAI is too boring for my liking. Trespasser was indeed good though, so you should play that OP. Especially if you like DAI.
Mass Effect always wins for me.

I've given up trying to understand it. For the past year or so, there's been some weird revisionist history going on with DAI; people talking like the game was a flop and a failure, despite a) all the evidence to the contrary and the fact most of us were there when it launched and saw how well recieved and reviewed it was. It's like people want BioWare to fail so badly they're trying to retroactively tear down one of their most successful games. Baffling

For my money, DAI is a better game .... combat is probably better from a technical standpoint. You'll have to explain this one to me, as I found DA:I combat awful. I literally felt like I was just watching cooldowns and then activating them. I mean it looked good, but..

It's a close race for me. Both do the open world aspect (which isn't my favourite thing in the first place) pretty poorly.
DA:I takes it for technical prowess, overall story and companions.
ME:A wins for gameplay, protagonist and setting. I thought Ryder was a much better defined character than the blank slate inquisitor who really suffered under having shoehorned race selection in there. Setting-wise, I'm just a massive sci-fi fan whereas I tolerate fantasy.
Overall, gameplay and setting slightly edges it in favour of ME:A for me. But trying to look at it objectively, I'd say DA:I is the better game.

I hardly call it a snooze when you have to outrun a purification field whenever you activate one but to each is own I guess. Which you knew beforehand and could do with one arm tied behind your back, since the game provides you with navpoints. The fields aren't that fast. They're just tedious and repetitive.

I haven't played DAI yet I only played DAO. Still have Awakening to do. Still after being on these forums I was going to finish my backlog of COD games (Yes I enjoy COD) but instead I might buy DA2 and DAI any go through the series. DA2 is smaller in scope and it centers on you, Hawke, and it sets up Inquisition nicely with the DLC. There are some steps back in DA2 (mainly character powers and tactics), but the story line is worth following especially with Varric leading the narrating. Isabela and Merrill are my favorite companions with Varric (he's pretty much your go-to-guy for all the best banter). Sandal has a great cameo and you're going to know Kirkwall well (consolidate all your quests in an area when possible... you're going to retread Kirkwall like an oversized DLC.) and get some insight to the events leading up to Inquisition. (Spoiler alert: Awakening characters make a cameo... one gets a big-time part.) So, yeah... it's worth playing Origins to Inquisition.

Even if I found DAI to be a disappointment in many areas and I loathe the repetitive, uninspired, never ending fetch questing and the missed opportunities with Corypheus as a character, DAI, IMHO is a way better game in almost every aspect when compared to MEA. The honorable exception with MAE, could be the improvements with the combat. DAI is a much more superior game in the story and character development departments and overall, DAI gives the feelings of being a more finished (polished) product, whereas MEA feels unfinished and rushed in most areas.

i really think EA should get all their devs together to develop another frostbite that way they can craft it to all their individual needs. They've been redeveloping it to suit their needs since 2008. ... and for my certain tastes, it still needs developing. Storage, crafting, HUD, tactical pausing, leveling (best one IMHO is Origins. Multiple amounts of abilities to really fine tune your character) and AI (I miss Origins again. Companions sought out enemies by distance and can change tactics on the fly without having to micromanage everything. It worked on the hardest difficulty once everyone's tactics were maxed and specific to their role.), moral/karma/reputation with companions and NPCs, and modding. These are all my wants because I had them before and I didn't like them not being offered again. This is what I mean getting less but paying for more. Every one of these issues should be addressed in the next Frostbite title and really enough time has passed that it should already be there.

I far prefer Mass Effect to Dragon Age but DAI was the better game for me. Both have a relatively boring main plot, but DAI was more dynamic, more polished, had better characters, better voice acting, more engaging stuff to do in general (besides the shards and herbs, I mean).

Inquisition is better than Andromeda by three times as much for me, I can at least have a desire to replay it. Some people believed that it id overrated. I was one at launch. The Hinterlands can dull you down right away. Some of the areas suffered from the no banter issue and I literally stop playing to take a nap or just go to bed. It was at times tedious and a chore to play, but the DLC really did a great job to close the loose ends. I didn't think Inquisition earned GOTY with it's step-backward mouse-keyboard controls. It was more in line with Andromeda, but that's not what I had before in the previous engines. Also, I could get epic levels of abilities in each subclass turning my tank into a juggernaut and grabbing every baddie like a boss. The tactics are another step backwards. I used to fill the tactic slots up to match the role (Alistair: Off-tank, Mage-hunter; Oghren: DPS, ranged hunter; Sten: Off-tank, DPS; Shale: Main tank, regenerating and those are just tanks. DPS and Healing also had subclasses) and allowed me to basically participate in the battle instead of micro-managing everyone. Inquisition, I don't how many times I cursed out Iron Bull for deciding it's perfectly okay to charge into dragon fire. Very exasperating. I know the console people don't have those options, but that's too freakin' bad in my humble opinion.
