Indeed. I'm losing no sleep over it. I quit playing for two months. I don't expect to see any SP DLC, nor a sequel. I don't expect to see another ME game for a long time. If it's ever to make a return, I expect it will be in the form of a reboot. I'd like to see SP DLC, though, for two reasons. First, this game really could benefit from the inclusion of more story-focused missions. The LMs and critical path are where this game is at its best, in my opinion. Secondly, the arrival of SP DLC could mean that all of my above described expectations are wrong. That would make me happy. time really flies doesn't it? It certainly does. I miss the build up before MEA's release, when the forums were alive and excited. Some have drifted away because they were disappointed by the game. Others have left because some who were disappointed refused to allow uninterrupted, positive discussion. Whatever the individual cases, I feel like we never got to fully experience those good post-launch discussions I always anticipate. Closing the official forums, and scattering those 20k members across the web, likely didn't help. We can still discuss it now, of course, but the wide spread, general excitement never came to pass.

That's not a fair comparison because even Jordan had amazing games with the Wizards. "Monstrosity"? ME3 was a "monstrosity" what MEA got was tame by comparison. Not sure either game was a "monstrosity", but even with ME3 endings, it was a much more enjoyable experience than Andromeda....The Mordin, Legion and Samarah scenes are better than the entire game of Andromeda....that game was just lacking big moments seen in ME3 by comparison... I was merely comparing the reception not necessarily which was better.

If it's ever to make a return, I expect it will be in the form of a reboot. Whenever Mass Effect returns (it will return, but it will likely be five years), I seriously doubt it will be another reboot. For one, that would be silly and merely risk having another stumble by trying to do something new. Secondly, I don't believe most necessarily had an issue with the story, the characters, the setting, or the gameplay. Andromeda's faults were largely technical and had nothing to do with the content, itself. It would be far easier and make more sense to just continue off the foundation that BioWare Montreal started. Obviously, BioWare Edmonton would want to make sure they release something incredibly polished, so that they can immediately silence any would-be detractors and trolls. Regardless of Andromeda's mediocre reception, BioWare still has a great reputation in the industry. If they release a polished, quality Mass Effect game, most critics and fans would be happy and rate it highly.

Sorry to say it folks, but the writing was on the wall. Looks like we'll have to find out what happened to the Quarian Ark in the comics/novels. That's really disappointing, but not surprising.

Wow...looks like that's a wrap....a bit puzzling with the way EA stated how Andromeda contributed to it's strong fiscal year numbers....meh who knows maybe the game couldn't overcome the initial onslaught of criticism in the beginning. It's not doom or gloom tho....just now the focus is on Anthem, and maybe for the next outing the Edmonton crew can take a crack at the next game and hopefully Bioware will have some writers that are up to the task of writing a more compelling and interesting story and characters. I didn't care for DLC..(i hate downloads)...but i thought Andromeda would have at least received the Quarian DLC......oh well...

Do you really think EA would tell its investors "MEA flopped and under-performed significantly compared to expectations." That's not how you run a business. They swept it under the rug and moved along. You will still get your Quarian Ark story... in the form of comics/novels. That would explain why those were delayed as well, in order to be altered. I'd still say it was in poor taste on BioWare's part to tell the player base so late about what was known for months due to a leak from Kotaku.

DA:I with it being GOTY have them some serious momentum as a studio in 2015 so, to have this 180 was a shock to the system.

They can't lie to shareholders so everything you read was probably the case. However, they have to view it as potential for future sales of DLC versus cost to produce so they obviously feel, reputationally, the game has issues and won't generate the hype necessary to justify the effort.

EA didn't outright lie. Andromeda still sold a few million copies. It just didn't sell the expected three million copies EA and BioWare were expecting in its first week... It was a mediocre hit, but not a financial flop. It didn't do what was expected of the brand, thus EA shuttered the studio as a result. BioWare Montreal's closing, to be quite honest, was far more evidence of Andromeda's fate than anything that BioWare or EA stated publicly.

EA didn't outright lie. Andromeda still sold a few million copies. It just didn't sell the expected six million copies EA and BioWare were expecting in its first week... It was a mediocre hit, but not a financial flop. It didn't do what was expected of the brand, thus EA shuttered the studio as a result. BioWare Montreal's closing, to be quite honest, was far more evidence of Andromeda's fate than anything that BioWare or EA stated publicly. EA expected 3 million at release www.google.com/amp/www.playstationlifestyle.net/2017/02/01/bioware-new-ip-given-release-window-mass-effect-andromeda-expected-to-move-3-million-copies/amp/Which it probably hit. I'm assuming, though, that lifetime goal of 6 million was more the question after release

Ah. Fair enough. The 6 million figure was from ME3's lifetime sales. I'm not so sure MEA actually sold 3 million copies. I know it probably sold at least 2 million. Based on the NPD and the sales of the game (digital sales are admittedly not taken into consideration), Andromeda was not performing very well after its first few weeks. It didn't help that Andromeda was going against strong competition in Zelda, Horizon, Persona, Ghost Recon, and a few other heavy hitters in March.

Yes, they would. They have done so in the past with other games. Also, pretty sure that lying to your shareholder is pretty much a crime. What are these "other games"? Again, EA didn't "lie" to its shareholders. It merely made Andromeda look better than it was. The game wasn't a financial flop. It just wasn't the huge hit EA was expecting it to be. Andromeda clearly under-performed significantly. BioWare Montreal wouldn't have been shuttered with the franchise being put on indefinite hiatus otherwise.
