Fwiw, I liked the Andromeda sibling and parents handling more than DA2's. And way more than Cosulands.

The only positive about MEA is that it showed Bioware that they arent invincible and not everything they touch turns to gold. Let's just hope the failed MEA can set games like DA4 in the right direction. There were a lot of complaining about bioware games DAI

There were a lot of complaining about bioware games DAI Oh, the complaints. Holy shit. All of the "I want my Hawke!", "I want my Warden!" It was just cacophonous on the old BSN.

I...can't really argue against that. I think it would have, too...though I loved my Inquisitor, make no mistake.

Hawke, Ryder, and the Inquisitior are my three favorite RPG protags. But i think it was biowares original intention to use Hawk as the Inq. The story makes a bit more sense AND it would have made DA2 the origin story.

I just genuinely enjoy a lot of aspects of the game.
It's clear where the faults were -- though I missed the majority as I played it long after it was patched -- but on the whole, I simply found the experience really enjoyable. Primarily that many of my issues with DAI, like the lack of memorable NPCs, or meaningful quest were fixed. Yes, the game is still swimming with quests that are just there, and yes, it probably has 2 maps too many for the amount of content that's there, in addition to just generally being a bit too big for its own good.
But I like the contrasts with the classic trilogy, especially aboard the Tempest itself. There's certainly a lack nuance with the characters, and that has a tendency to hurt. But on the other hand, I see a lot of it as another contrast to the original trilogy. Ryder isn't as close to his crew Shep was, at least not at first, and the new setting means that there's a lot that's trying to be packed in there.
Put plainly, it's a game with faults, but a lot like how I view DA2, when the game's on, it's really good. And when it's off, it misses by quite a bit. That said, even the twist that were obvious, or when I knew a mission was going to go south, it still had me invested.
A couple things I really enjoyed: the banter was handled much better than it has been in the last couple games. DAI had great banter, but it had a poor system for implementing it. Really liked the change in relationship via banter, both on the ship, and in the field. Taking new crew out after major sections to hear what they say was actually enjoyable
The ending sequence was handled really well, from an emotional and in-game standpoint. Even if not so from a story standpoint. It's not ME2's suicide mission, but nothing else really is, probably my favorite ending sequence since Origins, just for the sheer amount of variables taken into account.
I just genuinely enjoy the Ryder/SAM dynamic. And this extends to other characters as well -- still think the scene in the Cora romance is rather adorable.
Game has a lot of issues. From the lore issues, to how certain aspects were handled, to the fact that, even if I feel like it improved on DAI's weakest aspects, those aspects are still too readily apparent in the game. But I also think that it's a better game than it's given credit for. Certainly not a masterpiece but I don't regret the purchase or the playtime, personally.

I loved Jaal, I also loved taking him along on main missions because his connection to what was happening (specifically the two big reveals) added some weight to it - I also thought they handled both those moments really well and I genuinely felt for the guy.
I thought the galaxy map; it was gorgeous and the fact that the view outside the tempest changed with it was beautiful. I loved Havarl, I know navigating it could be tricky but I just loved how alien that world felt. Reading the terminals at the Krogan settlement was great. Genuinely enjoyed them, I laughed so hard at those. I love that after the loyalty missions you got to have a 'friend date' with the person you did the mission for.
And I might be alone on this, but I actually liked alien sudoku, even if it was highly simplified.

Vetra was everything I hoped for. A human/alien romance that I could play out as a female. I will miss her the most.

I love this game, because instead of a dramatic story and an impending doom like 1, 2, and 3, it is about two civilizations competing for territory, which makes it more realistic.

It was awful, especially when Mom decided to stay behind and you didn't even have the option to force her to come. I already lost a nephew, a sister in law, and about to loose my father., so if you can walk, live for them, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Worst beginning ever.

Yeah, instead of ME3's "Take Earth back", it's "Fight for a new home" - It's a different kind of struggle & survival which I liked. And I will be happy to call Eos the new "Earth"...or is that Meridian? Personally, I think Meridian should be the Initiative's central planet, it wouldn't be fair for humans to hog most of it

I felt genuine emotion after that and was ready to get that revenge when it came time. The Arl had no chance... Another good starting story was the city elf. That one was just plain fucked up (in a good way of course)!

Fwiw, I liked the Andromeda sibling and parents handling more than DA2's. And way more than Cosulands. Nahhh mate, DA Origins' Cousland's story and resolution is just unmatched. That feeling where you are the top as a member of a highly prestigious royalty second only to the King --> to the bottom when your family got killed --> to the absolute bottom when you become one of the last two Grey Warden in Ferelden with the other guy being an idiot --> to become the hero of Ferelden --> (this is very sweet) lopping off the head of the one played a direct part on the scheme that killed your family --> to potentially become the KING OF THE WHOLE FERELDEN with an exceptionally capable lady at your side.......... phew, that was such a magnificent journey. I mean, we didn't even get to chop the head of the main villain of ME:A personally and he's not even responsible for the death of our father, if you think about it. I don't feel any emotional impact from his (the villain) death, especially when the game awkwardly expect me to feel emotional towards the death of Captain Dunn an NPC that I probably talked with for a grand total of 3 times in the whole game, just before our encounter with him. Furthermore, we don't even got proper closure towards the Ellen still alive and in Andromeda all along storyline --considering that's basically the whole crux of why our father made us the Pathfinder and the culmination of the entire Ryder's family storyline, that's hugely disappointing. Not to mention the whole "benefactor" thing too......... .......... Ooops, this is the positivity thread, ain't it, hahaha. Well, uh.... I really like Female Ryder's VA, especially when I play her as this adorkable girl (who at times can be kickass too and not refraining herself from cursing like a madman). and I thought the whole romance thing with Liam was pretty sweet, with a great end-scene to boot.
