Assertions backed by evidence, well reasoned arguments, and good ol' fashioned common sense proved more reliable than delusion. Who knew hope would be so complicated? Logic knew.

Yes, you did but they covered their ears and whined incessantly. At least we're going for the sequel, I see some people moving goalposts already with those Casey and Mike tweets. It just never ends.

No, you had no more evidence of no DLC happening then of DLC's is happening.
Don't you dare to think you were "logical" one here.

Certain "fans" are being "fun" they prefer the entire franchise to burn instead of being wrong. Ego stroking at their best. With fans like these who needs enemies.

No, you had no more evidence of no DLC happening then of DLC's is happening. Don't you dare to think you were "logical" one here. Jason Schreier gave the most solid piece of evidence back in March and May: ME on "ice", no DLC. EA never bothered to even let it slip that DLC was in the works, not even a random rumor from some BW insider. Nada. The rest of us provided plenty of evidence, arguments, tweet "deconstruction", explanations, you name it! We called it straight and we never wobbled because we knew DLC was cancelled. We were proven right, you were proven wrong. Deal with it.

I think it was always going to be a stretch to produce DLC and make it work from a strict financial point of view. But there was also this semi-tangible asset known as goodwill. I thought it possible that Bioware would try to redeem the game without planning to make money on it. But they would have needed solid ideas of how to make it great and also confidence in their staff to be able to pull it off without too great a financial loss. I don't believe there was any way of knowing which way they would go without some inside information, although I accept it was always going to be a challenge.

I agree, malanek. I had hoped for one token "goodwill" DLC, especially considering all the rest of BioWare's games since at least DAO and ME1 had DLCs (and that isn't considered "logic", I guess). But apparently "hope" = "delusion" to some on these forums. Or that one cannot possibly be logical, but still hope for something at the same time - NOPE, you can only be one or the other, it seems. Which is really getting irritating and goddamn old. This is me speaking as a user, not as a moderator.

When someone brags about how logical they are I tend to think they are less about logic and more about their own hubris. Posers are not hard to sniff out.

That was not the case for many around here. The people who held the tightest to delusional hope are the ones who are the most jaded (pouf, scepcis, croatsky, etc). Their comments pre- and post- announcement are distinct in tone. You're a mod, you saw the meltdowns. That's not coming from someone who's simply preparing for the worst while hoping for the best.

It's not like the proof was strictly one-sided.

I'm fairly certain I didn't read anything about Andromeda or Bioware in the OP. I'm guessing you are talking about Republicans and Trump? This thread belongs in the Political Off-Topic subforum.

Fans but on both sides had no evidence and were just speculating based on past things. Wrong! I based my arguments off of the Kotaku article that was written by a journalist with a solid track record. It was people like you that didnt want to believe it and bashes Kotaku and Jason in the process. MEA bombed and was a failure. No other way around it.

And ME: A is not a bomb.

Meh...to be fair there was some that was dismissing that Kotaku article.....but eh, i can understand the skepticism after that other fraudulent story about a company that was tasked to create DLC? I'm not familiar with Kotaku or this Jason gentleman some speak of, but if he was basically solid on other issues, then maybe he should not have been dismissed in the manner that he was.
Being that i really wasn't big on Andromeda anyway, this really didn't affect me either way,...but i thought at the very least the game was going to get 1 DLC in the Quarian Ark storyline....even when fans asked if folks was still working at Montreal or inquiring about DLC being created, there was cryptic responses which gave the impression that maybe the DLC was being created.
I guess at the end of the day it was just the dev's that probably didn't know what the decision was going to be and was just as much in dark as everybody else and the fans....again tho looking at Andromeda, the game has high production values and has incredible visuals....just that story and characters are lacking a bit, the game wasn't bad or abysmal by any means.

This isn't really a case of logic > hope as much as it is that people just rushed to claim that something was going to fail because people on the internet always do that and in the cases where they're right, people like acting as though they "called it".
People have been predicting the downfall of World of Warcraft ever since its release in 2004, and I have no doubt that when it finally does fall people will be there to tell us all about how they called it because "the signs were there".
