I think Laura Bailey is the narrator for Deadfire. Sounds like Dagna is describing things to me! Ashley Johnson does the narration. Laura Bailey voice Xoti. I got POE1 in a sale some time back. Thought I'll play it now. I'm in the middle of Act II and I'm ready to call it. *sighs* I'm feeling very far distanced from the chars, I don't see the relevance in numerous soul readings that don't go anywhere; I don't associate with those people at all, they're not connected to the main story. I'm getting repetitive lore bouncing back at me from NPCs; I don't f***** care what the next NPC will say, my ears are going deaf, my eyes are going blank. *falls* zzzzz Know what? I'm just going to look up the synopsis and get the story. While I understand you, a small heads up: don't even both talking to the yellow named NPCs, they don't tell anything of substance. This cuts down by alot the amount of talking that you will do. Tyranny is better in that regard anyways. The yellow named NPCs were part of a backer tier. It was a mistake. I never read any of them...outside to see what they did with mine, lol.

I start the game already and I play by import save. Still play as Priest (Berath) plus new class Wizard. The Fact I heard (so far) about romance is disappoint me because all of available companion is bisexual BUT my number one, Elder is not among them and even have someone else in mind. Doesn't really surprise me. Romances were part of a stretch goal, and so not exactly baked into the game from the start.

Not seeing the point of save imports. Thus far it looks like the only choices that got imported are which god you sought aid from and whether or not you got Eder killed. I even had to rebuild my character's stats, race, and background!

I even had to rebuild my character's stats, race, and background! Character stats, race and background are not imported because it mechanically changed too much. Only the world state, companion's endings and quest choices are. Saying that, you don't have to import a save, you can use the history maker in the game to create a new world state, or pick one of the preset.

Yeah I managed to find my original character's world state and import it (though I made him human rather than an elf). I also made him a Devoted Fighter. Only proficient with greatswords (and takes an accuracy penalty if using any other weapon) but bonus armor penetration and crit damage with using greatswords. But I find it odd that I had to supply in dialogue answers to questions like What did I do with the souls the Leaden Key captured?

Although, your dialogues could just be flavor interaction (could be funny if the game catch you lying). Josh Sawyer was surprised Sunday that some import stuff was misfiring in the twitch streams this weekend because they tested all of it. I don't remember reviewers mentioning problem with that either, but most of them probably haven't played the first game so...

Good thing i'm waiting then, but no rush as i'm not doing the review for it so gives me time to finish a fresh play in the first game while they fix the 2nd.

But I was excited to have found my old files.
AH well, I'm not very far in the game (just got to the firs village) so if things go sideways import-wise, restarting won't be a big deal.

There is only two save import issues mentioned in the "known issues" posted when the game was released. These were discovered this weekend and probably tested Monday by Obsidian. The known issues list isn't that big and it seems that your game is either totally bugged or totally bugfree...there is no middle ground with the internet. There is a patch scheduled for next week. Saying that, I'm seeing more people expecting different behaviors and deciding/wondering if that it is a bug. Like people panicking because they see a companion for the first time and they don't join right away (they join later).

That doesn't bother me too much, considering five of the companions are basically cut-outs this time around. Then again the companions in the first game were ok but a ton of them lacked character too...

Didn't watch more than a few hours. In any case, I went to read the synopsis and also reviews / lore. Based on my gameplay, though not complete, I've to say some of the SQs are more interesting. On the main story; meh / ok. Jury is still out on POE2. I've a few more days to decide before the GOG offer ends. Two games for one; yummy?

The biggest problem it has is the bloat and sort of generic world. That said I liked it more than say divinity and wasteland 2.

Any words on who is/isn't romanceable yet in this? Saw this on the official Obsidian forums on the subject. Male Watcher: - Maia - Xoti -Tekehu Female Watcher: - Maia - Xoti - Tekehu - Aloth It may have been a stretch goal but saying Obsidian and companion romance in the same sentence feels really odd as such I'm not expecting anything fantastic. I like PoE II much more than PoE though from what I've played so far.

I bought the GOG POEII + 1 game. Can't pass up on such a offer after further spinning around. Installed and playing. I'm thinking POEII might be the same case with the DOS series; I bought the first one, never finished it. Bought the second one, DOS II, finished it, liked it too. The ship battles aren't too bad, contrary to expectations. The one thing I'm grumbling over is having to toss 1k overboard just to appease some freaking god. It's that or have the crew rumbling away. So far, I'm staying interested. The pace is better than the first one, plus 1000 points to VAs. I don't think I can go back to non-VA and reading walls of text any more for RPG games. Also, companions are interesting. Not playing multi-class. That includes the companions too; I'd be interested to see how the top tier skills play out.

I thought godlike are immune to emotions and cannot reproduce. er...if I'm not mistaken. The godlike are indeed infertile, but they're not immune to emotions and they can definitely have sex. (Just ask Tekehu! He will tell you all about it.) Pallegina, however, is basically married to the Republics and not interested in your Watcher.

Oh don't I know about Tekehu. he and Maia jumped on my toon all at once while I was following up a quest line. I was going; wha...what? That's a little too fast, I say. Still, I like the fact they made the first moves, not the protag. I don't know who to go for, I'm trying to keep relationships balanced.

Still, I like the fact they made the first moves, not the protag. I don't know who to go for, I'm trying to keep relationships balanced. People are speculating that the relationship system is triggering too fast (on either directions). Although, Tekehu was always presented as very into it so that one is probably normal. Going by my short experience with the game, I suspect memory corruption affecting flags (save import, relationship system, options). I got issues with option toggles, AI turn itself back on randomly despite the icon being off and I selected the "hide selection circles" option and after a while they came back and my game crashed not long after on area transition. Outside of that, I got no other bugs though, but I haven't made it that far..restarted 3 times and I will restart again because my bed time resolution yesterday was that I would probably like a Skald more than a Monk. RPG 1st world problem: race and class selection.

The game is really good ! I mean there's a number of frustrating import glitches and stuff ...but there's so much going on. It blows POE 1 out of the water.
And yeah the romances are a bit wonky. I mean there's a certain wizard who keep on ignoring me, but Xoti, Shark Boy and Kana sister have really easy to up relationships. You joke around for 5 scd and they bat their eyelashes and drop their panties on the spot.
But otherwise, with the boat stuff, the factions, the companions + the main quests ...there's a ton of interesting things to do and it's all very layered. Remind me a bit of Fallout NEw Vegas, structure wise.

I spent almost an hour re-creating my history (I played the previous game on my old laptop). Most of it spent looking up minor characters like Caedman Azo, who I honestly had no memory of.
Anyway, I’m very much enjoying the game so far, although I think I made my Cipher more squishy than I originally intended.

It's occurred to me that the Watcher I imported never did the White March.
Wonder if that will make a difference...

So I'm actually giving a go the first Pillars. After seeing Cohh streams playing the first game a couple of weeks back, and now the second game, it picked my interest a little bit more. Now, I was aware of the game's existence ever since release, but I didn't quite like the concept. However I'm finding myself somewhat enjoying the game for now, last weekend I pretty much played non stop, only to do some breaks to watch some TV shows.
Anyways, my gripe with the game is a bit of the style. 2D isometric generates issues, plus it's very dialogue intensive, and some times that exhausts me, I'm not used to this style. I understand the game is supposed to be based on D&D style, which I unfortunately was never able to play in my childhood due to various factors; and also heavily inspired in Baldur's Gate, which I actually did play a bit, but since I played the game so fucking late (about 8 years ago, probably in 2010) it never caught my interest due to how dated the game is.
So, I've said the 2D isometric style causes issues in the sense that the pathing is weird at times for the party, they glitch out. Not often, but it happened a few times that it was a bit distracting trying to figure how to get on top of a "building" of sorts because it's 2D. The art style itself I have no problem with however.
I'm still having fun with the game, and there's something that I cannot quite say that keeps me going back and keep playing it. Quests are really detailed in design, and it may be super dialogue intensive, but that definitely helps out with the quests: no "go there, kill that, return for reward" type of quests. Definitely Obsidian's strong suit. It's also definitely very challenging at times, having me completely give out on some quests to come later because I get my ass handed over. Leveling up seems to be SUPER slow though, I wish they let you level up faster or get more abilities per level, but oh well.

Just started the second game. I can say in terms of combat so far is a MAJOR improvement over the first game, everything feels crunchy and with weight, the effects are beautiful, the sounds are great. I plan to play on Path of the Damned from the second playthrough onwards, but in the meanwhile outside for a ship difficulty spike the combat seems to be easier and much more fun. In terms of story, the premise is more clear but, eh.... There is significantly less bloat in writing, I guess that comes with fully voiced dialogue (that said, it seems Divinity Original Sin 2 had so much higher dialogue density, also fully voiced). The game overall is good to great, the first PoE grew on me (when I started to min-max that is). The story and the world isn't as gripping as Tyranny or lets say DA:O, but the game itself is fun, and thats the most important for me.
