I was wondering how the PC version of this game (with patches and expansions) was for you. Did you enjoy it for the combat story, dialogue, ect?
I enjoyed NWN, BG, XCOM and expansions/DLC.

I liked it a lot.
Although I found it a bit of an adjustment after playing DA:I, TW3 and other "AAA Action/RPG" games. It is very much a slower pace, but at the same time, encounters can very quickly overwhelm if you just wade into the enemy and aren't at an adequate level.
There isn't a huge amount of voice dialogue but there IS a lot of text dialogue...like A LOT. My first playthrough I spent nearly three hours in character creation...read EVERYTHING there, because it's important.
But - if you enjoyed the games you listed, I'd be reasonably confident that you'll like PoE.

I really, really like POE.
Combat was ok (not really what I play these games for anyways), but I love the story, and the RPG elements.

Its fantastic. The combat took some getting used to, but became fun as I leveled and got the hang of it.

I liked it, but was also partly disappointed in the characters and the slightly disorienting way the story is told and the setting established through huge amounts of exposition. Definitely a net positive overall and I'm still looking forward to Deadfire, which will hopefully make the same kind of leap upward in quality as BG -> BG2 did.

I tried to skip spoilers but I like how you can talk to them and help with their personal quest. I'm not expecting more than that (my hype tries to do otherwise).

Trying to read on Backgrounds, Culture, Race, Class.. I've spent sometime recently looking. Can't wait for the 29th.

Do you think it's better to do part 1 and 2 after the main or go at level 8? Which way do you think the story flows better?

The way it fits into the story, it can be done at any time once it's triggered. However, you cannot do it once you've finished the main game. There is no "postgame content"

Yes, PoE is a great game. Though, too long for my taste (75 hours with DLC). Optional content is more difficult, than the main one, which is a good thing, I guess. Party includes 6 members (NPCs and player-made characters; it also possible to play solo), so there's a lot of space for character builds and party composition. I enjoyed the dialogues. Dialogue options often included some sort of contextually inappropriate/extremely sarcastic replies and the game handled it well. Quests usually have several outcomes and there's no karma (moral alignment) system, only relationships with factions and characters.

Hmm, I like that idea of different outcomes and actions/dialogue affecting characters (and factions, new to me since I've been reading the lore and all bit I've recently spoiled myself with the factions and towns outlook toward my PC). I've been looking for a game to get into. 70+ hours does sound insane but I think that's what I've been needing. Something to lose myself in since I have been suffering some Bioware blues over Mass Effect. I can honestly say I'll likely do two playthroughs at least playing completely different PCs, party characters, and different outcomes. The 29th cannot come soon enough. Everything you said makes me excited. Since I've watched it, read about it, heard everyone's opinion here.. I do not think I'll be disappointed. It's been out on PC long enough to be patched up. It may have some PS4 bugs on release but I don't see it really happening that bad, hopefully. 3 more days!

Not just 70 hours, but when Deadfire comes out, you'll be able to import your character to that as well

Not just 70 hours, but when Deadfire comes out, you'll be able to import your character to that as well I think that would be cool. It took over 2 years for a port to consoles for the original. Hopefully, it will launch to their expectations on console so they port Deadfire as well. I wouldn't mind buying Deadfire Complete Edition when it's time comes.

Sawyer finally finished patching this? Thought it would never end. Game was ok, sort of felt it didn't have it's "mojo". Tyranny is a smaller, maybe even more flawed, but more engaging package.

I was wondering how the PC version of this game (with patches and expansions) was for you. Did you enjoy it for the combat story, dialogue, ect? I enjoyed NWN, BG, XCOM and expansions/DLC. Yes, totally. I am a huge fan of the Baldur's Gate saga and also of Icewind Dale I & II, and I have found Pillars of Eternity to be a modernized descendant of those games. Couple of things are different and obviously they have their very own somewhat more complex rule set, but it works and feels very familiar to anyone who played the round based infinity games. What I did not like too much were the characters, they simply didn't click for me. They all have their own unique back story and companion quests but I simply didn't like any of them, they felt a bit dull, and so was the antagonist. There was no Minsc, Edwin, Jaheira or Irenicus. Also the voice acting in general was a little disappointing. Still, I'd give the game a solid 85 of 100 points. And don't forget their next Pillars of Eternity, Deadfire, is just around the corner. BTW; I liked Tyranny quite a bit though, I hope some of its good stuff bleeds into Deadifre.
