This is my general belief as well. Shepard's story was told. It starts: Earthborn/Spacer/Colonist. Next: War Hero/Sole Survivor/Butcher of Torfan. First human Spectre. Takes down Saren. Allies with the enemy to stop the Collectors. Returns to the Alliance to face the Reapers and wins (or not, if you choose Refusal). Shepard got a hero's story. Anything more would just muck it up, diluting Shepard. From the looks of it people want a life simulator where we play As a retired Shepard. That would not bold well with the mass media If mass effect needs to relieve on one character you might as well change the games names mass effect Should just as well be called Shepard mass effect one becomes Shepard and the betraying Spectre mass effect 2 becomes Shepard and the attack on the colonies mass effect 3 Shepard and the invasion i feel a series looses it’s identity when it relies on one character Yes. There are lots of trilogy books that have one or a few main protagonists. But that's it. The story is told and we move on. The trilogy was a single story. Continuing that story is pointless. I think that's why the devs went to such great lengths to separate MEA from the OT. That allowed them to make use of the existing universe but with a whole new setting and protagonist. It was the right decision, even if the implementation had some issues (though not nearly as many as people liked to pretend).

There are plenty of ways to make a New Mass Effect without solely depending on Shepard.

If you watch the trilogy trailer it pretty much points out what the whole Shepard story is supposed to be about.

If you watch the trilogy trailer it pretty much points out what the whole Shepard story is supposed to be about. Right, and once success is achieved all that's left is to rebuild the galaxy. Doesn't seem like that would make for an interesting game. <iframe style="position: absolute; width: 23.960000000000036px; height: 2.8400000000000034px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 15px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT4_48038402" scrolling="no" width="23.960000000000036" height="2.8400000000000034"></iframe> <iframe style="position: absolute; width: 23.96px; height: 2.84px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1138px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT4_94092190" scrolling="no" width="23.960000000000036" height="2.8400000000000034"></iframe> <iframe style="position: absolute; width: 23.96px; height: 2.84px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 83px;" id="MoatPxIOPT4_1843202" scrolling="no" width="23.960000000000036" height="2.8400000000000034"></iframe> <iframe style="position: absolute; width: 23.96px; height: 2.84px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1138px; top: 83px;" id="MoatPxIOPT4_12037044" scrolling="no" width="23.960000000000036" height="2.8400000000000034"></iframe>

I like to see the galaxy in the rebuilding stages and all the heartaches they face while doing that. Would be kind of hard to do in story format. Since it's a big long epilogue, and resolutions come at the end of a game. I understand that the Extended Cut was short, and brief into what actually happened, but if you read any books or watch any movies, the epilogue doesn't take up a large chunk of the story. It's a short section included at the end of the story. The Extended Cut kind of works like that.

Hopefully, that included the Council, particularly that douchebag Sparatus. He was such a dick, ignoring anything Shepard had to say because of his hatred of humans.

Bioware stated that at least all named characters on the Citadel survived since there are safety bunkers built into it. Good thing since my LI was on that station. Though I suppose as long as they don't show up in the Extended Cut you can see those characters as dying.

The Reapers - and the keepers - know that place better than anyone who has ever lived there. I'm curious, though. What LI is on the Citadel? I'm looking and everyone is either a squadmate, fighting elsewhere on Earth or on the Normandy.

Why would it be hard to include the rebuilding of the galaxy in a game? It's a resolution to a conflict (the Reaper war), which usually comes at the end, which it did. It would be even longer than the epilogue which happened in Lord of the Rings, Return of the King. The average Mass Effect game is what, 20-30 hours long? Full playthrough roughly. Is that essentially what you're asking for? I get it though, they didn't tie off every single loose end and go into immense detail into what will happen afterwards.

What they showed is the galaxy already rebuilt. How long did that take? Don't know. So why can't a game take place during the time the rebuilding is happening?
I never said for the whole game to be about the rebuilding.

They did state in the PAX San Diego conference video that it took around 500 years or so to do it. They didn't show it already rebuilt, they showed it being rebuilt in phases with the slideshow from a few weeks after the Reapers are dealt with to centuries afterwards.

I never said for the whole game to be about the rebuilding. No offence, but it sounds like such a game would be a real boring slog... ME:Minecraft. It would also be too much of a copy of Fallout 4 (which after doing a continuous string of Minuteman quests) IS a really boring slog of a game, IMO.

As far as it taking 500 years to rebuild? Never heard that until I read the above post. Can someone link the video or quote for that.

I think there's a lot of things that could be interesting in a game set in the Milky Way after the Reaper War. Regardless of your choice to cure or sabotage the genophage you'll likely see factions of krogan intent on conquering the galaxy, while other species are barely recovering. Due to the destruction of Thessia there'll be a gap in power that the asari used to occupy; it would be interesting to see which species try to occupy that.
The biggest issues I think is how Bioware would handle ME3's ending. I also wouldn't be interested personally if Shepard was still the protagonist in such a story.

So he/she would tell the first story. If not, how does anyone know what happened on the Citadel?
