Yeah. The Nexus not having a pathfinder and sam node was a why didn't they thing? Maybe it was done so Ryder could have some side filler missions to complete. On Hab 7, the player sees little Ryder having trouble breathing after his/her face got in the way of some debris. The player sees dad have trouble breathing as soon as he puts his helmet on the kid's head. When Ryder, squad and the salarains/krogan exit Archies ship, to be picked up by the tempest, why isn't anyone having trouble breathing? Is it becasue the plot demanded Alec and little Ryder have problems breathing, but not anyone after exiting Archies ship? I agree that this scene being helmetless is silly. Still, they were in the upper atmosphere of a planet at the time. Did it look like a breathable atmosphere? Not really. Nonetheless, it was present. I think they just failed to see obvious necessity for helmets, in that scene. Mass effect fields being used to hold an atmosphere around a ship are a thing in the series, and have been ever since the Normandy first docked at the Citadel. OTOH, it's not precisely clear why the Archon's ship would be doing that.

It's funny in how after you analyze the game's plot points that you realize this game has serious story and pacing issues. The one that really stood out for me as others have described was in how Alec could communicate with these vaults...even with how advanced this Sam is, there is no way to decipher alien technology as if it was technology they was familiar with. And also if it wasn't for the vaults themselves, how would Ryder make these worlds habitable? The whole bit with the exiles and Sloane on Kadara pretty much chillin' without the help of Ryder was a bit puzzling as well....she also ran the Kett off the planet while the Kett are building or have built headquarters and bases on other planets with ease, but yet they couldn't defeat a squad of ragtag exiles from the Nexus? I didn't tear the game apart in the manner that this vid is doing tho, because eh...i know they are trying to tell a story, but even without breaking it down, i thought the story and characters was lacking....it's just that when you see these types of vids breaking down the plot-points of the game, you get a sense that this game needed some QA and some fine tuning of the overall plot and story elements. I'm assuming their data storage was decipherable to SAM because of the universality of mathematics. I tend not to nitpick small, story essential compromises like this. It's the big issues that create dissonance for me. I agree....even tho i still feel the "universality of mathematics" and Sam being able to understand alien tech in the manner it was presented a bit too convenient and far-fetched, i rolled with it because they was trying to tell a story and after all, this entire scenario takes place in a sci-fi universe....You have to let go of some sort of reality when playing games in general, but you still want some dose of reality logic infused within...."space magic" is ok as long as it isn't spread on too thick.... I tend to not nit-pick as well, but as we are just discussing the breakdowns and plot-points of the story due to the vid shown here, i'm just responding to what i've seen within the vid....

I thought it was simply a matter of the 'rule of cool' and if you set your options to have helmets off. Either that or the nebulae was a breathable atmosphere.

I generally have "helmets on" and still get the helmetless scene. They were actually in the upper atmosphere of a planet in that scene, if I recall correctly. The lightning effects were pretty mesmerizing, when I first noticed them. It didn't look like a breathable atmosphere, but I still mentioned it above, covering bases and all. I typically just cringe a bit, because I think the scene is otherwise pretty badass.

I'm not even 100% clear on whether they use mass effect technology. I need to finally read the Codex, it seems.

Shouldn't newer games look better than older games? BioWare fucked that one up with Andromeda and ME3 looked so much better than that crap. My thing is why didn't they let the vets make Andromeda instead of people who don't know what they're doing? They need to get their shit straight.

Because Anthem is going to be the cash cow moving forward. I have no doubt in this at all.

Don't put words in my mouth that I never intended to say. Parts of Andromeda look good to me, but the character models definitely disappointed me at release. When I saw Anthem, I immediately thought, "That's where the heavy resources were focused."

Look at the leaked footage of Andromeda from 2016. They regressed behind what they already had in place for one reason or the other. Noone can say how Anthem may or may not look like at release by looking at their early trailers.

I've never seen a game look as good at release as it does in its highly optimized "first looks".
