I came to hyperventilate here, because I need an outlet for pent up excitement-hope... could it be we are getting new Jade Empire? Oh, please... a real Jade, real bio game! And then the news it will be a MMO... or online Battle Royale... or Mortal Kombat clone... or looter shooter, sorry looter kicker. The franchise is not popular enough for EA to do a classic SP game. You can bet it will have a heavy online element. Maybe open world like GTA online is also an option. If it would be of Swtor quality and with artwork and preserving shapeshifting component and the lore, I would try to remember how to play a mmo for it. Looter shooter, no, I am not doing it.

The days when I was excited at the thought of a new Bioware game are long gone.

Honestly Jade Empire ended well. The story is finished. I see no need for this. We've recently seen sequel fatigue in movies. People are complaining franchises are being milked to death and asking why a movie cannot be just a movie. The same could be said for games (matter of fact, Andromeda kinda sorta feels to me like milking the ME franchise...) I wouldn't mind a soft reboot though. There's no universe out there like the one in Jade Empire. I could perfectly do without a direct sequel but another completely different story in this world.

Since I am away from my gaming pc these days and have to play on a crappy laptop, I thought i'd give JE another whirl. It's been ages since I played it all the way through. I have to say, this game would be a great candidate for a remaster/graphical remake. I would really love to see this with modern day visuals and more dynamic dialogue scenes (with more animations and maybe sometimes people moving as they talk).
Even though MAss Effect is my absolute favorite BW franchise, I'd much rather see a JE remaster than an MET remaster. On PC, the MET still looks fantastic with mods. JE on the other hand is really hard to look at (especially in dialogues) these days but the underlying game (and the setting and story in particular) are still fantastic. This one really deserves some TLC.

I have to say I fully agree on this. I re-played JE some months ago and I can only share your observations. The game is a great game, I really love the story and also the combat system, with the different fighting styles and the possibility to switch between them during a fight to adapt to situations/foes, but the graphic compart is nowadays very poor. The game would greatly benefit from a remaster!!

Interesting. I got JE free on origin some 4 years ago, and never played it. I'm on my first playthrough now, and, so far... it's somewhat underwhelming. The combat is very clunky; not the system, exactly, but the controls are very unresponsive, and the camera fights with me all the time. I like the idea of the changing styles, but the change commands are not too practical (play on xbox controller on PC); Maybe the XBOX version is better (I have witcher 2 in both xbox and PC, but whenever I play, I go for xbox, because the controls work so much better there, even using the same device; something in the way it is programed makes loads of difference. All that I could forget if I got a good bioware story, but, so far (I just entered the pirate base, so no spoilers if great surprises await me, pelase!), it's underwhelming. A classic savior tale, and the characthers are too exposition-heavy; I haven't seen the witty wrinting I saw in Morrigan the first time I played Origins. But... I plan to carry on to completion. There is a nugget of a great game there. I hope it will surface anytime now! Anyway, Most of what I read here, and see online, is how great the story is. I can't see it so far. I'm hopping to get dazzled anytime now!, and that its not just nostalgia that makes that game be so well regarded . Regards .

Yeah, it doesn't have the character writing of a Dragon Age or Mass Effect. And while the main quest is your standard BioWare flair, there are a few things that really stand out about it. Really, I think the game is fondly remembered for what it set out to achieve, and the setting itself. Plus, I could be wrong but I think Jade Empire is BioWare's first original setting.

Been thinking of Jade Empire recently. Guess this probably goes here?
