But they're optional to have sex or not. You don't know what a choice actually means??? Note what I said, "or suggest sex". There are several instances throughout the game, like in both TW2 and TW3 start out with Geralt and either Triss or Yennefer after they have had sex, since by the time of the games Geralt is already in that kind of relationship with them without player input. Or even abandoning Shanni for Triss in TW2.

You just compared a random villian you meet for in 1 zone to selling out yoymur companion to his former master... That's no comparison at all. And yoy shouldnt need us to point that out to you. I honestly cant stand it when people feign ignorance just to support an argument that they know is weaker. Did you play DAI ? I doubt, because if you had played DAi you should know that Lucius and Servis are not random villains you meet in one zone, and you should know that as the inquisitor you can forgive all their crimes and recruit them. You should also know that Hawke and Stroud are not random people you meet in one zone, and that you have to decide who will die. So you can kill your former hero, which is at last in the same emotional range as seeing a relative killed. Seeing your last sentence, I think you can't stand yourself, because if you played the game, you are very good at feigning ignorance.

It's funny how these "elements of dark fantasy" basically add up to no gays, trans, or people of color and women being raped and treated as objects? It's almost as if BioWare decided they were bad ideas that deserved to be left in the past. Go figure. Yes, dark fantasy incorporates elements that are "bad" and objectionable to people. Isn't that amazing? And a dark world set in the past incorporating frightening ideas and social standards of the past is truly an intriguing and otherworldly concept. The very notion is staggering to me EDIT: Don't know where you're getting the "no people of colour/gays" thing from. It was never a part of the argument you were replying to.

I'm not accusing you specifically of bigotry but it's clear that many people who are advocating for "dark fantasy" have a clear agenda. My point is you are very selective in what you label "dark". It is not at all about being selective over what is or isn't dark elements. How "dark" a story/game is clearly involves the accumulative effects of dark themes and dark elements. The scaling back of dark themes will therefore result in a lessening of how dark a game really is, and so the scaling back of dark themes in Inquisition (and remember, Origins had so few dark themes and elements in the game it was called "pseudo dark" or "dark lite") is obviously going to effect the dark atmosphere of the game as a whole. There may still be dark elements in Inquisition, but they are undeniably fewer than the limited amount we got in Origins. And if they're trying to create a dark game, they should either go dark or just go back to normal fantasy (which is their trademark.)

I realised that the more you guys talk about this stuff, the wider the gap between you becomes. That's just bullshit now. You must be blind to not see DAI have become lighter and less offensive, but the others should stop treating the game like it was fucking rainbows and unicorns. Some people never saw DA:O as being particularly dark in the first place, of course. Moving from a 77 down to a 74 isn't really noticeable. Yes, absolutely. The dark elements in Origins, some people called them a dark fantasy mask placed over what was clearly mostly heroic fantasy. Inquisition is clearly not as dark as Origins which to a lot of people wasn't really dark at all. It's more like a move from the mid 70s into at least the mid 60s, it's becoming quite light fare for a lot of people.

In all seriousness, yes if the tavern serves no function like with Skyhold then I think it should have been scrapped and that data used to enhance something else. What the? No no no no no Worldbuilding is similar to character building. When building a character if all the reader (or gamer) knows about, oh say, your thief is information that is relevant to the plot, then what you have on your hands is a 100% 2 dimensional character. So if all the reader knows is your thief can pick locks with her thumbnail, and she joins forces with the protagonist because the protagonist is looking for her sister, and she's also looking for her sister and what a jolly coincidence that is, then that's a 100% 2 dimensional character. Obviously this is a sliding scale, so the more you know about her outside of what is needed to reveal for plot purposes (she likes apples, she almost drowned as a child while trying to give her pet cat a bath in the river, she broke her leg horse riding and now walks with a limp, she detests insincerity) the more rounded that character becomes. Same thing with worldbuilding, if all you know about a world is what needs to be revealed for plot/quest purposes (I'm looking at you Val Royeaux) than that is a 100% 2 dimensional place, it is as far away from a living city as you can get. The more you know about a world that isn't plot related, the more rounded that world becomes. Bioware needs to balance this demand for worldbuilding with narrative and character concerns, because they've built their reputation building stories and narratives (not so much worlds.) Bethesda games, on the other hand, are almost 100% exploration games with some semblance of a plot tacked on to keep certain people happy. Because of this their primary focus is world building, they need to create as well rounded a world as possible. And so there is no way on this green, green earth that the tavern in Skyhold should be scrapped.

You honestly found it strange? Seriously? :S It's a dark place, so the brutal oppression of people adds to the dark elements in a story which the more you have the darker the story. I have to be careful, I've already been told off once in this thread for explaining something somebody "already knew" *rolls eyes*

How are they scared of sex when it is getting more and more explicit?

Speaking of dark aspects, I remember Gatt from Bull's quest pretty much saying that he was sexually abused as a child by his owner, and that his case was more clear than Fenris's.
