My point exactly! But there seems to be some double standard where men could be "objectified" and nobody really cares, but once women in games become objectified sex objects, it is a big deal. Notice how no one ever complains about Kratos or any other main game character and how their proportions are not realistic and how they are being sexualized etc. But once it comes to a female character with unreal proportions and being sexualized, then the gaming industry is sexist. So for some, they were willing to ignore the fact that men were also prostitutes in those brothels and somehow just focus on the females. What are you even talking about? Has anyone on this thread, even mentioned female objectification as a reason for the Brothel's removal. No, I am talking in the greater context of things. That in general (in the videogames industry) often times the whole "sexism" or "objectification" tends to be one-sided and tilted towards the female characters. A quick Google search would yield you many examples of where certain female videogame characters were brought up because of their extreme sex appeal and attire that made no sense outside of being eye-candy for me; MGS5's Silent comes to mind. However, there are many other male videogame characters that are just as sexualized but never is brought up. Take Mass Effect 2 for example, for those who were offended, Miranda was brought up to highlight just how sexist games can be with her skin tight space outfit.....yet those same people who complained about Miranda's attire, never thought to bring up Thane or Jacob's skin tight outfits which I am sure was intended to be eye-candy as well. So Miranda's outfit is a problem but Jacob/Thane isn't? |

The only people I see making a big deal of brothels are those who are upset they aren't going to be in DA4. It's called freedom of choice. And why brothels and sex is such a big deal? If players want to see sex scenes that's their choice and no one is forcing anyone to watch. Well, some people may see brothels as a way to depict women as sex objects. Then they should do both genders. No harm no foul. |

I don't get why people would be opposed to a brothel. I can think of valid reasons it wouldn't be a part of a high fantasy setting, but dark fantasy? This isn't Harry Potter. We can stab a kid to death in the first game, let a man be consumed by a demon, or a girl for that matter. And that's not even covering the larger moral quandaries. I've a hard time seeing how brothels don't belong in this setting. I don't get people either. But it's a BioWare fan forum and this type of situation is to be expected. |

It affects attitudes around it, it affects infrastructure around it, it affects atmosphere (this is all dependant on how it's implemented of course.) In fact I'd cut the sex scenes and use the extra budget to improve the quality of the game, but then again I'd cut voice acting and do the same so my opinions on these issues aren't exactly popular  . It's my opinion that part of the problems of Bethesda's Oblivion was to do with their insistence on including voice acting, but that's just my opinion on the matter. |

Seems you have misunderstood what people are asking for... once again. |
