Mike I don't think had much to do with MEA. He prolly had differences of opinion with someone important or burnt out or something. You're right: he was the Creative Director for Dragon Age. Dragon Age: Andromeda...

Yeah, it's the same here. In fact, I have seen actual non-compete clauses incorporating that, providing a basic income for the duration of the clause (in this case, I believe it was EUR 2,500 a month for a period of 12 months) to ensure ex-employees really can adhere to their clause. So, really, things are roughly the same in the Low Lands from what I hear from you guys. It must have been my sense for drama that got the better of me. Back on-topic: Mike Laidlaw leaving makes three (Billy Buskell and the CEO) now since Andromeda hit the stores? I would guess these departures had something to do with Andromeda's lack of success... Mike I don't think had much to do with MEA. He prolly had differences of opinion with someone important or burnt out or something. Billy and Aaron were part of MEA, and yeah, they were likely told to leave. Are you saying we're responsible for getting Billy fired? I don't like that, Billy was alright.

I doubt BSN (or Reddit) had anything to do with it. The only kerfuffle was the "netcode" stream after he had already left. Billy was probably pushed out because the game he produced was shit, and millions of would-be purchasers either skipped it or bailed early.

Pretty much the same in the United States. People have a constitutional right to earn a livelihood, so noncompetes have to be very, very limited in geographic and temporal scope to be enforceable. Yeah, it's the same here. In fact, I have seen actual non-compete clauses incorporating that, providing a basic income for the duration of the clause (in this case, I believe it was EUR 2,500 a month for a period of 12 months) to ensure ex-employees really can adhere to their clause. There is at least the guy that was originally leading MEA project who got sacked. Walters took over then. And there is of course the Montréal division getting dissolved.

I just checked the website and there are only two studios left...

But he's back leading the charge at BioWare Edmonton. I say him coming back is for the better because without him MEA was not a sci-fi, but another Dragon Age. And sci-fi is what I want, couldn't care less for Dragon Age series.

Edit: Gérard Lehiany. It was director - not producer.

Then I think you mean Casey Hudson. I was wrong about him in the sense that he wasn't replaced by Aaryn Flynn (Hudson left when he was Creative Director for ME(A)) but Hudson did replace Aaryn Flynn as (and is the current) General Manager. Mac Walters came aboard as Lead Writer, though, as I gather it... Edit: You clarified already...

Walters had to bail the cart out of the shit and piece together what he had in experience from Mass Effect and bring it together in Frostbite. I believe they needed someone from Edmonton to pull Plan B: DAI general gameplay transformed for Mass Effect.

I just happened to stumble on that one link on the webs misattributing him as Lead Writer. We're both right: apparently, they didn't hire a new Lead Writer after Schlerf left: Mac Walters took that job as well... And - you wouldn't say - that site is:bsn.boards.net/thread/1965/mac-walters-lead-writer-andromeda

EA was responsible for Shaq Fu, so no.
I don't think anyone in this thread has any real idea of how long EA has been around and the massive variety of games they publish. Andromeda probably doesn't even rank in a top ten of their biggest screw-ups.

from what i recall reading here and about
-Hudson screwed up ME3 ending ( which was seemingly due to a story leak a couple of months before release) and then just left . -The highlight of ME3 ( at least for many people) was the MP and that was developed in Montreal. -And now Montreal is dissolved after screwing up ( and they did so massively) and Hudson is welcomed as the second Messiah although he's been working on Anthem which everyone seems highly skeptical about.
If those facts aren't fake, then at this point i trust neither Hudson nor anyone in Edmonton to come out with something better. But how i 'd love to be wrong.

I haven't played most of their games, nor do I have access to their sales figures, so I'm not in a position to make a definitive list. But there's no possible way that ANdromeda could be their biggest flop. Biggest flop this year, maybe.

I didn't really hurt to know the ending beforehand and a spoiler may ruin the surprise - it can't take away how you dive into a game and experience it.

Andromeda probably doesn't even rank in a top ten of their biggest screw-ups. "Flop," not "screw up." EA has certainly put out worse games, but I can't think of any that deviated so massively from projected performance, especially compared to the development time and budget.

Top Ten Screw-Ups by EA?
Ultima 8 is easily #1.
Andromeda is easily in the top ten.

Because pricing on Amazon determines the quality of the product in question? It does, on Gamefly it's still $40 to keep a GTA V title, and it's like a 5 year old game. Mass Effect Andromeda on Gamefly is 11 bucks lmao.

Leak : Shepard will find a way to destroy the Reapers.... BW: " Oh no! the story has been leaked, we need a new ending " . and Casey philosophically concluded " RPG and RGB , tis all the same you know , and i'll prove it ".

The story line may have had potential if the game received its planned DLC and sequel... but without them I`d rank its plot among one of the worst in video game history. I admit to taking you a bit out of context, but it reminds me of an old joke: Person 1: "The food is terrible here" Person 2: "yeah, and such small portions!" I'm really referring to the people who screamed how bad MEA is ... and scream twice as loud that they didn't follow it up with DLC I finally finished the main storyline. With just 3 settled planets. It took me 6+ months (~90 hrs) to do that. And after 100 hrs of MP, I was long past mentally done with it. I thought I'd then go back and do some of the other planets and loyalty missions (only two during my playthrough). Nope, can't work up the motivation. Instead, I'm replaying ME1. So, no way I'd plunk down money on DLC (and go through more hours of mediocre content) just to find out what happened with the Quarians. Story was mediocre, execution was abysmal. Sadly, I have to say I'm agreeing that the Bioware magic is long gone. Yeah they bitched the loudest because they not only paid $80 for a shitty game, but $80 for a shitty incomplete game.
