Honestly all this whining about wanting Shepard back is very pathetic. Shepards story is done and dusted, and opening it up will just cause it to become convoluted and dragged on.

Hell no, Shepard is done and over. Time for something different. Just like all the Dragon Age whiners still going on about the Grey Warden.... It's over, move forward and not backwards.

No.
Don't want Shepard's legacy ruined by another MEA-like incident. The graphical change in ME3 was a bad enough move in 2012. Don't want to see a Frostbite abomination of my beloved Shep...
But I do want to go back to the Milky Way, IF they must milk the battered franchise further. Which I'm not keen on.

I loved the characters but Shep's story is done and over.
We don't need to cart out the same handful of characters every time BioWare wants to tell a story in this universe. They just need to step back and refocus on what people liked about the OT. Andromeda's biggest failing is that, even if you take away the technical issues, it still lost sight of what made the OT good.

I have to say no. As much as I'd still want a decent demise for Shepard (at least a reunion we-have-won-hug with Garrus) I don't need to play her again. Frankly, I'd like or back Ryder (but with more customization, and not only in the CC) or a new character with no forced family/personality/name. I want to make MY OWN character. I expecially hate that the twins have a premade personality. It them feel even less mine than hawke, and I thought it was quite hard.

Shep deserved a better ending/epilogue( Throne of Bhaal, Blood and Wine, etc) but what's done is done.
Ryders were a great concept, poorly executed. I'd actually want to see them back, scarred after years of experience, would be interesting contrast to well, whatever it was in MEA.

I think as long as we have voiced characters we're going to see forced family names so that other characters don't have to refer to you as Commander or some other title all the time. Even Fallout 4 only had one character voicing a custom name and it still had a limited list of names it could use as well as a very small fraction of the total dialogue of any one character in a BioWare game. It would be nice to have more choice in personality though, rather than the option to say the same thing in 1 of 4 different tones that you got in most cases.

When is all said and done Shepard is probably my favorite protagonist in any bioware game but Shepard's story ended with the reaper threat. I do think there are more potential stories that can take place in the Milky Way such as the Leviathans trying to reclaim the galaxy or the yahg becoming a spacefaring species but you don't need to be Shepard to experience them. I will never understand people's inability to move on from an old protagonist. To this day we still have some DA fans wanting their warden to come back even though the DA franchise still moved on just fine in the same universe with different protagonists.

No thank you. Shepard's story is finished. I'd much rather Bioware continue with Ryder and finish their story. I like Ryder more than Shepard anyway.

Well Those that want Ryder back, that is good. I have nothing against MEA:2 if it does get made. Well I do think Ryder needs a better game.
Also if We go back to the Milk Way, I would not have Shepard back. But I am all for a New PC and a new crew for the Milk Way, Regardless if it is con current to the ME Shepard Trilogy or Post ME Shepard Trilogy.
I have my own ideas if there was a Non Shepard Milk Way Mass Effect Trilogy and it is in more of a rough draft.

I totally get why people want Shep back, but her arc is done, and it ended well (red/green/blue notwithstanding).
She was one of my all time favourite protags but I don't need more of her.
A good end is much better than a desperate attempt to revive a character.

I love Shepard. The Mass Effect trilogy is far and away my favorite set of games. I love the original setting, and all of the squaddies are awesome.
I voted "hell no". The story's done. Part of that might be that I was all right with the endings (from the first game, I never expected Shepard to walk out alive), but I don't really WANT to see them flail to work around Schrodinger's geth, let alone all the other consequences from the trilogy's decisions. I was hoping Andromeda would be a new trilogy, because I adore the save-transfers and playing the same protagonist with built-up relationships. I still hope that it's in the cards, though obviously I'd like to see it done a lot better for round 2.

We've had a few different threads on this topic now... the poll results are always essentially the same. Shepard's story ended in ME3. Bioware has also been telling us that for years now... so, I'm really not sure what the point is of threads like these erupting again and again every couple of months. My personal answer is also still the same... Hell no.

Sure.
I don't expect anything like what he was before, nor do I expect him to be necessary for any story.
But if there's an appropriately weird storyline that would be highly assisted by his (or whatever he becomes) presence, then yes.
I don't suggest the cheese of what happened to Revan in SWTOR though, nor the optionality of how they put Hawke in DAI (as in he didn't really 'need' to be there for the events to occur). It needs to be important, polished, respectful, intriguing, and enjoyable. The perfect time, or no time.
Also they should at least subjectively stick to 'Shepard's Story is Over'. If he's around, it shouldn't be his story, but its another's story that Shepard happens to be super important to be involved in.
My point is.. they need to have a great point to make. I don't write it out, and it could be fantastic, and I kind of want it - but I don't want it shoddy or in any way (other than its basic fact of existence) revolved around a fanservice.
If there's some deeper truthful plotline of the series that Shepard is needed for, don't be afraid to involve them.
If its just 'we want cool characters to arrive from the Milky Way' - then no, screw off.
I'm very friendly to MW/MET elements being in future games. However I'm very respectful to new games/stories happening and that we shouldn't just 'dwell' on the past. If a great relevancy can be made to involve anything from the MET, then I would love MET stuff. If you want to just insert X character because people loved X character, I'm against it. MEA was right on the line of acceptability of this, and I'd hate if it got any worse, but I'm all for it being done better. I don't put an unbreakable wall between games. Anything from the past can matter for the future, and anything from the future can recall to the past - I just want it done very well.
Bioware often doesn't do this sort of thing very well. But its also sometimes done it at least well enough. I'm open to ideas.

Yes, bring back Shepard and the characters that made ME so good. This is flawed thinking, because the characters don’t create good dialogue or stories. They could return and be just as bad as any new ones the team conjures up. Then we’ll just have people bitching about how they ruined the characters they loved so much.

I love Shepard but l think he/she had his/her three games and it is time for someone new to take the Mass Effect forward. What i want is a continuation of ME3 destroy ending with a new PC to help clean and rebuild the galaxy.

What they can do is to revamp Shepard's story on the trilogy to be more engaging to make the character more human, and not the generic Space Jesus/Mary Sue character trope. They could start creating playable back stories playing Shepard's life before he/she joined the Alliance military. Remake Shepard's breaking points and PTSD in ME3 to be more realistic as well, and they might as well introduce dark themes of ME3 to have it more horrific, depressing, and traumatic to motivate players to defeat the Reapers regardless of tough choices. It would be nice if they decide to fix the trilogy. One can hope....

Yeah, imagine Shepard, Garrus, Tali & co written by the ME:A lot. Sets my teeth on edge just thinking about it. If we ever return to the MW I 'd like to have mention of Shepard, alive or dead. It would be ridiculous not to considering what they achieved. Maybe a cameo from one the surviving crew. But however much I love the OT, warts and all, and was disappointed by ME:A, bringing back Shepard would stink of desperation. Let them rest.

I've voted and given my answer but the op is bullshit. I've seen almost nobody asking for Shepard's return, just a return to the MW. And both are a reaction to the failure of ME:A.

Then we’ll just have people bitching about how they ruined the characters they loved so much. How is that flawed thinking, when it was the characters of the previous titles that made the trilogy such a great game. Sure you can say the writers were the real reason the characters were good. But in this case of talking about bringing the OT characters back, I'm also talking about bringing the writers of those characters back. You really think the Andromeda writers could pull off writing characters like Garrus? Hell no. If Shepard and Crew comes back of course the OT writers would have to have a hand in it. I don't see the flaws you speak of. When People talk about bringing Shepard back, I'm pretty sure they have the OT writers in mind to handle a project like that. who the hell would want the writers of Andromeda to work on a story with Shepard present, especially after seeing the shit show that is Andromeda? OT writers for the OT characters DUH...
