Not as a main character, but we could have a cameo or a participation like Hawke in DA:I. But only if ME3's endings are respected (that means Shepard will only appear if Reapers were destroyed)
I'd really like for Bioware to just drop Andromeda's galaxy because there is absolutely zero potential for it, but since they won't, in this galaxy I won't want Shepard to return because it would be completely nonsense and Andromeda already has too many of them. But I really hope they bring us a new likeable protagonist with new characters (hopefully not tied to the Initiative)

How is that flawed thinking, when it was the characters of the previous titles that made the trilogy such a great game. Sure you can say the writers were the real reason the characters were good. But in this case of talking about bringing the OT characters back, I'm also talking about bringing the writers of those characters back. You really think the Andromeda writers could pull off writing characters like Garrus? Hell no. If Shepard and Crew comes back of course the OT writers would have to have a hand in it. I don't see the flaws you speak of. When People talk about bringing Shepard back, I'm pretty sure they have the OT writers in mind to handle a project like that. who the hell would want the writers of Andromeda to work on a story with Shepard present, especially after seeing the shit show that is Andromeda? OT writers for the OT characters DUH...The thing is that if you brought back the OT writers then you could easily have them write up new characters that are just as good. Yes the characters made the OT good, but you don't need specifically Garrus and Tali to have a good Mass Effect game. On top of that many of the OT writers wouldn't have a hand in it because a number of them aren't even with BioWare anymore and Patrick Weekes who had a huge hand in a number of the characters of Mass Effect has since gone on to become the lead writer of Dragon Age so he's busy with that franchise now. The reality is that if you brought back the OT crew you'd be stuck having the ME:A writing team having a significant role in writing them. The flaw is thinking that BioWare can get the same team of people they had 10 or even 5 years ago to write a new Mass Effect game.

Mmmm don't need Shepard getting milked like the master chief is. That aside, shepards story is done and I'd rather not see bioware ruin it by bringing it back up.

You know what I changed my mind. Don't bring back Shepard, because thinking about it they'll surly ruin him even more, being that good people are leaving BW left and right. Just found out Laidlaw has ran from BW today. RIP DA.

As much as I would like it to be so, I'm afraid that window of opportunity passed about five years and one very controversial ending ago.

I don't mind retconning the endings so shep lives but his/her story is done. I don't want to play shep anymore (because continuing that story would be worse fan service than MEA). Like where do people think the story can go honestly?

This is flawed thinking, because the characters don’t create good dialogue or stories. They could return and be just as bad as any new ones the team conjures up. Then we’ll just have people bitching about how they ruined the characters they loved so much. Yeah, imagine Shepard, Garrus, Tali & co written by the ME:A lot. Sets my teeth on edge just thinking about it. If we ever return to the MW I 'd like to have mention of Shepard, alive or dead. It would be ridiculous not to considering what they achieved. Maybe a cameo from one the surviving crew. But however much I love the OT, warts and all, and was disappointed by ME:A, bringing back Shepard would stink of desperation. Let them rest. I wouldn't mind the MEA lot *revising* MET dialogue, personally. Because I think one of the few strengths it had over MET's writing was that aside from the particular awkward quirks in the dialogue, the characters came off a lot more like real people for better or worse. I was never a fan of how MET's crew could be too often (to me) like.. comic/action heroes. Sure I love aspects of that, but even the games (especially as they went on into ME3 DLC) kind of poked fun at it. I kind of like being in the Tempest checking in on everyone and how they view things, without an air of "I am badass and they're all badass" over it. I know its also a good and COOL thing to have, but its not what I enjoy more personally. Too bad the animation for so long (and somewhat still now) couldn't capture the nuances in the dialogue and voices.

But I really hope they bring us a new likeable protagonist with new characters (hopefully not tied to the Initiative) I think there's great potential for Andromeda to be a galaxy of creation (in narrative tone) after the Milky Way's galaxy of destruction. A faltering start doesn't necessarily end this potential, even if it weakens, slows, and might end it.

I'd say no. At this point,I think they'd just mess it up anyway.
I don't mind them staying in Andromeda. They just need to kick the ball down the road hundreds of years. Vaults have finished doing their thing, most of the galaxy is explorable. More races to bring back that sense of discovery, learning about different races and their histories for the first time. Past conflicts, alliances, etc.
That way the characters are more apart of the story because their races have history, like the Rebellion and the Genophage. Wrex have strong feelings about what to do with the Rachni Queen. Tali and Legion letting past history between their races get between them, only to overcome it and become friends.
Andromeda had no history, it just came across as shallow.

No. I don't trust "New BioWare" with a character as pivotal and iconic as Shepard.

As much as I loved my Shepard, no. Her story is done. Let her rest in peace or move on. Have her mentioned in future games? Sure. A statue or memorial? Sounds good. Want to see her again? Replay the trilogy or read some fanfic. Hell, let the whole series rest in peace until BW can get their shit together.

Andromeda had no history, it just came across as shallow. I'd rather just years later, as we explore totally new but more civilized environments (similar to how DA4 may be going for the civilized parts of the north instead of wilderness). Still use Heleus as hub (especially the Nexus), but don't focus on the Habitats. Then another game (a ME6 or 7) after that can do the big jump, and revisit the old colonies more. Also it is more personal preference that a bridge to Milky Way is built over time. ME4/A we discover that everything is cut off and there is danger, ME5 we try to re-establish contact and learn about the danger (up to meeting a form of Reaper, I'd be fine with), ME6 we have contact re-established and attempt of multi-galactic civilization is begun (and so can travel between galaxies for story). I'd say after maybe even a millennia, things have changed. Could break down Milky Way (technology) to keep it to an Andromeda's standards that are still relative to the trilogy (but MEA teases it getting better). But anyway I'd adore a ME5/MEA2 that focuses on the exploration over the colonization. Just with less 'roaming land' part and more 'traversing space and establishing new contact' that was in MEA but not as prime.
