Manveer Heir speaks out against EA

Not surprising? This is how things goes from some time now. Next time EA just has to develop a better game under those requirements, because it's been proven possible. Wait, I mean BioWare, they made the game. Apologies.

I really miss those times when you bought a game you actually bought the whole game, you didn't have to keep buying to have a full experience.

If you buy microtransactions, I hate you.

This whole thing started with DLC. I was opposed to this when it first started happening years ago. Back then dev's used to try to give you the most bang for your buck. Now i'm not hating on the DLC too much now, because i do understand that these games continue to increase as far as budgets go, but still i'm not a fan of such practices.

I used to try and wait for GOTY editions that would have all dlc all on one disk....it's mainly the sole reason i don't do DLC....i like everything on a physical disk. I was trying to wait for a ME3 GOTY edition, but i know that is never going to happen with the DLC for ME3 still generating decent sales. I will probably bite the bullet on that one tho, since ME3 do have some pretty interesting/compelling DLC....

i don't see how EA is doing anything wrong. they're playing by the rules, their games successfully attract idiots with deep pockets (similar to mobile game market atm). don't get me wrong, it really sucks, but for all big name studios, profit is king, and until the rules are changed this sort of behavior wont go away on its own

read : it means the vast majority of game consumers (or a very unlikely rich minority, the rich are good with their money usually) are complete idiots who buy into the scheme and keep it alive. its not only microtransactions, but games as a whole are being dumbed down, streamlined, casualized to appeal to the mass market full of idiots. so if you're looking to make a profit, why shoot yourself in the foot if you can appeal to the majority of gamers, make them happy with RNG lootboxes, and only have a poor, yet vocal and judgemental community on reddit blame you without actually having any of it affect your sales? the state fo gaming is fucked, but it's definitely not just because of the behavior of publishers (ie it's a feedback loop that drove the industry into this behavior, because gamers allowed it in the first place, endorsed it, and bought the shit out of lootboxes, and publishers smartly adapting to the demand based off statistics, math doesnt lie).

tl;dr EA, like any smart business, adapts to demand. they're not the ones "forcing" the lootboxes model onto us, rather, it's the (nonvocal) majority of gamers who demanded/keep demanding them in masses. EA adapts to statistics.

EA/Bioware supposedly did fire him earlier this year.

So I suppose you can argue that would make this headline more accurately summed up as;

"Man fired from work doesn't like former employers... also the sky is still blue and the ocean wet. Now onto sports..."

Manveer is a piece of shit but even pieces of shit are right sometimes, like how I correctly predicted Mass Effect: Andromeda would be the worst Mass Effect game released by BioWare.

They don't boycott movies with rapists and guys who beat women, but if a combat-designer tweets a photo with a cup saying "white tears", HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, I'LL NEVER BUY A BIOWARE GAME AGAIN!!!!!!!!

The silly thing is that it isn't just EA but the rest of the tirple A crowd as well that tries to monetize all the aspects of their games. Doesn't really take an ex-dev to comment to note it.

Curry Thunder was likely insufferable to work with but he did have a point in that Andromeda was not diverse enough and no I’m not talking about more LGBTA+¥< Pee Oh Cees.
