I enjoyed 4 or 5 large mp dlcs from me3mp, there would not be 4 or 5 large dlcs if the cash was not rolling in.  See DAIMP and MEAmp in which support and any large dlcs fell by the way side very fast.  so yes, the people that paid for content 100% for sure subsidized the many that did not.

I for one don;t think micros are the end of the world as long as they are handled in a certain fashion.

That is true to an extent and I won't deny that, but relying on that fix means that game developers are beholden to the needs of the audience majority.  If you look at the top played and top selling games on Steam, Xbox, or PS4, the majority consists almost entirely of multiplayer games.  As of right now, single player games don't have much of a future because they lack the same replay value, they lack the same consistent player base, and they lack the same popularity in mainstream media.  So yes, if they appeal to the larger audience, they won't have to raise game prices by a single cent, but the single-player gamer is not the larger audience in this case.
