I admit this game isn't that great but one thing I don't get is how that trash called PUGB gets high ratings. It runs like a slideshow, it only has two maps and its the same crap every game. At least andromeda had some sort of polish to it. We owe bioware and ea an apology.

It's online multiplayer game that means i completely ignore that. I am very lighthearted about Andromeda i admit it. I did not played MEA more than a 2 months and i already miss it. I have to play it again soon.

And at least it does still have some replayabilty to it in that you can romance different people in each playthrough and experiment with different powers and builds even if the story is a bit linear compared with previous Bioware games. Also for the most part the bugs have been sorted now so it's very much at least in a playable state even if some might like to drag it through the mud. In fact I'm halfway through my 7th playthrough right now and have an 8th,9th and 10th planned

I think you put the key thing into your post. The word EA in the gaming world means "evil organization we must hate everything from". Andromeda isn't BioWare's finest attempt, but I enjoyed most of it. You can see the same thing in many different games over the years and if there is an EA stamp on it people just won't let anything go. Heck if you aren't EA and make a bad game you might even be considered the best in the field like Bethesda who stopped updating Skyrim years ago, but will re-release that last patch version without any new fixes and still get praise for a new port (even Jim Sterling admitted a bias there).

Because PUGB is actually much more engaging and fun.

Same reason why Bethesda( studios) receive a free pass for, well (nearly) everything. Games don't exist in vacuum, PUBG offered a unique experience to a lot of people, despite it being of meh/low quality.

i've always seen TES games as wide-open blank canvases we fill with whatever we feel like. IMHO, that's what they are (excluding eso), and what i take them for... and with regards to elder scrolls, i've always received just about what i expected form bethesda.
with bioware and mass effect andromeda we had our hopes set high... it was the continuation of mass effect, the next big rpg from bioware, the foundation of an all new mass effect epic... and it had to be good, because it's bioware. what we got, well... to me it felt like they barely tried. now, i have to agree it didn't deserve the hate it got, as it was an ok game. however, a game that's just ok... from bioware... that practically makes it a bad bioware game, as we have higher standards for BW. it's like going into a fancy french restaurant and ordering something pricey... and being given a burger with chili fries, it's still good food, but not what you ordered, and you didn't even see that stuff on the menu.

At least andromeda had some sort of polish to it. We owe bioware and ea an apology. Different expectations. RPGs need to meet a pretty high bar - world building, story telling, decent combat, balance, progression etc. RPGs are intimidating to make. That being said 57% positive rating on steam for PUBG from 470,000 reviews doesn't exactly scream "high ratings" to me.

That being said 57% positive rating on steam for PUBG from 470,000 reviews doesn't exactly scream "high ratings" to me. I think the "high ratings" comment is more about the "professional reviewers" since places like Polygon have given PUBG a perfect score of 10/10 while they dinged every flaw they saw with Andromeda and knocked down the score.

Maybe you should try reading the positive reviews to find out why those people liked PUBG.
"Polish", whatever you think that means, isn't everything. A shiny turd is still a turd.

After going against my better judgement I went to MetaCritic to lookup both games. The thing is the overall user score for both games is pretty much the same when put on an aggregate score. So would that mean both games are a "shiny turd" since professional critics cannot be trusted?

Online only games are judged a bit differently I think. I mean I enjoy overwatch (haven't played battlegrounds) but it's weird to think that without other people what is there to a game like that? I'd take a game with a single player campaign over any online only. I know a lot of people who are into battlegrounds and I certainly am not opposed to being competitive, but multiplayer only is great when there are people and crushingly lonely when you're just sitting in a lobby all by your lonesome.

The amount of replayability it has. The fact that you can go with one to three people. The fact that it utilizes RNG factor and where you land as the basis for getting guns and the different amount of guns. It just goes on and on.
Horde mode isn't dead, but when it's in a turd like MEA, it's basically dead.
*shrug* I don't play it either, I'm simply telling you what people enjoy about the game. That's great that you enjoy this game. I only wish you could see the fact that normal people see it as a turd and want it flushed.

This is an apple and an orange comparison, as the only thing these two games have in common is that they are video games.
That said PUBG has allot of commercial weight behind it, as there are allot of people hoping to make money from it and push the industry even further down the MMO trap. Ultimately the MMO rage, could spell the end of story based gaming in favor of pure action. SAD! Not my thing, so I tried the demo and moved on.
I also do not believe that we are best served by unbiased reviewing and rating overall. The almighty dollar rules all and you are right, MEA had flaws, but it deserved allot more attention than it got. As a XBOX guy, you can see the market push of PUBG with Major Nelson appearing to be playing the game continuously online. Microsoft obviously are hoping this conversion will be a pusher of XB1X.

Well PUBG got a lot of hype behind and people are just jumping on that banwagon acting like it's a great game. Bioware on the other hand have to always leave with the standard of "IF their next game isn't as good as Dragon Age Origins it's a terrible game and Bioware is full of SJW and have forgot how to make a good game." Basically PUBG is just pure hype and everyone trying to be "cool" by loving it and MEA is that in reverse. It's cool to hate on MEA.

One thing that imo worked against the MEAMP specifically was that it was in many ways just like ME3MP, with less selection of goodies, but the new grind for them. So it felt like a deja vue for those who played the ME3MP.
Really, the only new race we got to play was Angara & the difference in the bases & gameplay just was not enough.
This feeling is in essence similar to what people experienced when they came into Andromeda's SP and discovered that we gained Angara, Remnant and Kett in the setting, but lost more species that dotted the old games. There are reasons for it, and it did not impact my enjoyment of the SP campaign to begin with, however, I feel very strongly that the Lost Arc is missing from both the SP & MP as of August when we learned that it is how it will remain.

PUBG is still super popular? It's getting a lot of flak on Steam for poor network performance as well as lots of Chinese hackers/cheaters. It's sitting at an overall "mixed" user review score with only 46% of recent reviews being positive. It may have sold a lot of copies, but the user base doesn't look very happy.

I just think people expect different things from different types of games, and also different things from different developers.
If I buy the next elder scrolls game I'm expecting a large immersive open world, radiating quests, cave diving, and most importantly the ability and tools to easily mod the game. I'm not expecting a great story, well-developed characters, etc. If they put out a semi-open world game with no modding tools I guarantee the outrage from fans would dwarf what we saw with ME:A, no matter how good the rest of the game was.
For Bioware, people don't expect a great open world, level design, etc. They expect good characters, a good story, good role-playing, things along those lines. As has been seen in the many threads about this game, a lot of people feel the game failed at what was supposed to be its bread and butter, and ultimately the pros didn't outweigh the cons. For me personally, if I'm saying the combat was the best part of the game, and it's a Bioware game, odds are I'm not going to play the game again.
Did people have any expectations from this PUBG game? It's a lot easier to enjoy something if you go in with no expectations.
Your brand can be a gift and a curse at times. You can sell a lot of games just off just your brand alone, but it's also a bar that people expect you to live up to, and it's usually higher than bars for others.
