This image is far from ideal, but I made up a quick example: Yeah! Something like that. It doesn't look overdone like I'd imagined. That was what I was picturing from your description, too. Yeah I'd say that can look very nice. Know what vallaslin you are going for?

I don't have the game yet. I was just trying to picture it in my head. Shade: <snip> Vivienne's skin tone and black Sylaise vallaslin. This image is far from ideal, but I made up a quick example: I was going to say that black vallaslin wouldn't show up well on dark skin but I think what you posted looks really nice. I actually think lighter vallaslin would look odd and too bright.

The thing about dark skin is that you need to worry a little more about color clashing. Pink vallaslin, green eyes and brown skin is a lot of information.

I was at Edmonton Expo this weekend, and as usual, I dropped by the BioWare booth often. During one of the times I visited, one of the devs (it might have been Lukas Kristjanson but it might have been one of the others; I don't remember clearly - sorry! They're at the booth for 2-3 hour shifts and then a new group of devs comes in, so it's hard to remember who I spoke to) and I got to talking. I mentioned that I was a Solasmancer and he smiled wickedly and said "Buckle in for the ride."
The last time I visited, Tom Perlinski and another whose name I forgot were quite clear that they are among a group of BioWare devs working on Dragon Age and have been for a while. I replied that I knew a group of people have been working on it (that's quite clear if you follow devs on Twitter) but that I knew they couldn't really say anything about it either. Tom replied that if they were able to say anything about it, there's a good chance that much of it would change before release anyway. (That's a normal part of development and is partly why companies are becoming a little more reluctant to say or show anything about their games until the games are close to being released.)
So, nothing really new but I thought some of you might like the reassurance that things are still proceeding. ^-^

Agreed because it really won't be much of a ride for me if it's not the Inquisitor in the seat.

It's kinda funny that Solas says "I'm not Corypheus".
Sure, their personal feelings may be different, but they have the same goal: Sacrifice the current world to restore the old.

ok so i'm here because i could literally write a dissertation on my main guy solas.
first and foremost; he's living in a trolley problem and it's.........the worst. if he went home and did absolutely nothing, thus saving modern thedas, in his eyes he'd still be condemning people to death anyway, whether it's old elvhenan staying dead or current thedas, suffering under the veil and the blights.
i feel for him. there's absolutely no 'win' outcome for him. at this point it's just ruthless calculus--who is harmed less by his actions? there's no scenario where he won't cause harm (and ofc if he lets thedas alone, there's the very real possibility that he will outlive all his current friends and die alone anyway).

Not only are the "real" people of Thedas suffering under the current conditions, but the spirits are as well. And we all know how he feels about that.

very true! according to what we know about elvhenan, spirits were as much a part of the population as physical people--in modern thedas, they're treated as little better than monsters. not only is there the oppression of elves and mages, which is hard enough for solas to deal with, the veil messes with spirits on a fundamental level. to solas, he's not only hurt the elves, but the spirits as well, and he needs to find some way to fix it.

I'd be okay with playing a Dragon Age game sequel once the veil is dropped. They can call it Spirit Age and play with all kinds of new physics and art assets because reality has been altered beyond what we know it here on Earth. Could be really neat, maybe you bond with spirits to create your own classes. So many ways it could become a cool new extention to the franchise, or a franchise onto itself. (I hope that made sense. I'm on a bunch of NyQuil right now.)

I'd settle for the rise of Elvhenan, tbh (or have them exist in some way or form). But I'm not sure if the rest of the fanbase would've like it if things change too much, (like breaking the Human Noble mold where they don't sit on the top of the food chain) At best, I'd like to play an elvhen background who is not opressed or being marginalized

Which is not to say that I think humans should stay there - I would prefer more equality among all races - but I don't think the nobles of Elvhenan were any better (or worse) than the human nobles of current Thedas. And to clarify that statement, I mean there were likely some good/nice nobles, some bad/awful nobles, and the most were in between. Getting rid of nobles entirely would be nice but I don't think Thedas is quite ready to get rid of their current societal structure. And I'm definitely NOT advocating the Qun. What I would also really love to see is the dwarf society get rid of the Casteless. And I don't mean by wiping them out, I mean by getting rid of the entire idea of being Casteless.
