Solas stabbing Varric? I was expecting something to happen to Varric, but not him getting stabbed point blank. I still think Varric will live due to the IGN video, but still...

So, I am torn because Varric and Solas are both my loves, thus this was a difficult scene to witness. I did only watch it once, so maybe I need to do some additional watches to slowly analyze, but to me it came off as Varric going for Solas's dagger... there is an equal struggle which, I mean, old friends or not but when someone goes for your knife and tries to pull it towards you then all bets are kinda off. Unfortunately, Varric comes out on the bad end of that struggle. I am fearful for Varric and want desperately for him to live/be okay. But I have a hard time going into full SOLAS IS EVIL ARRRGGGHHH mode when bro made for his knife and tried to pull it up to his neck. Again, maybe I missed something in the quickness of the scuffle, but two people regardless of friendship status wrestling over a dagger, somebody is gonna get stuck even if it's accidental/unfortunate aim, etc. It seemed like afterwards Solas's initial facial reaction was shock/upset/self-hate even, at least to me from one quick watching.

I agree, I think he looked remorseful too. It's just hard seeing my pookies fight

Quoting myself to additionally add that I have seen some folks saying Solas stabbed Varric directly in his heart. Which, if he had, Varric would kinda instantly be dead. Plus, wrong side of the body entirely, unless I missed the memo that dwarves' hearts are now on the right side and not the left side of the chest.

It looks higher to me, more like into the flesh of his upper right shoulder. That's not a kill shot. The Dread Wolf growled a warning first when Varric tried to stop him. Now the Wolf has bitten him to stop him (after being attacked first, from his viewpoint), but bitten him in a non-lethal way... or, at least, based on aim seems to be that way. Bit him in the shoulder, not the face or the liver.

I also asked John Epler about the Inquisitor's involvement in Veilguard and if we'll play as them:
Epler "The Inquisitor shows up, they are not playable, you'll play as Rook the entire game"
When asked if they feel like there's enough to make new players feel connected with the Inquisitor he says:
Epler "We want this game to be for players who have been with us for a while to feel like you're coming home to Thedas and for new players to give enough context to gently ease into the world and then feel connections to these old fan favorites that you may not feel connected to but will still feel that connection through the game"

So no real intimacy between them. Probably no kiss either. All we perceive will be through Rook's gazem which cuts so much. Probably something similiar to Celene/Brials

When i read about Solas stabbing Varric, at first i was "What the hell is this???", but after reading about what actually happened, i think i'm fine with it. Thank you for providing context, because i have no intetnion of watching the video. I already regertted reading spoliers lol.

While I never actually thought we would "play" as the Inquisitor per se (no running around, doing missions, etc.) I had rather hoped we would at least be able to choose dialogue. I fail to see the point of including the Inquisitor at all of they're going to relegate them to NPC status the way they did with Hawke.

A great deal of my interest in the game has also vanished.
