The dark energy plot was really stupid. I didn’t mind it in ME 2 but where Mac would have taken it was really dumb. Well it's not like ME3 plot was any better, in fact was worst than the dark energy. Well the dark energy plot had interesting features and more logic to be honest. Who is Mac if I may ask? the dark energy plot was made by Drew Karpyshyn (and I wouldn't say made, (from what I read from the "plot" it had the basics but was still in a concept state) and he left the company when ME2 was half in development. (If I don't recall wrong) As usual you are just being an opportunist. Anyway in the end all comes back to ME1 because they didn't have a single clue of what to do with the series. So if you start with that, nothing good can come in the future. Mac Walters. I may have been wrong in that one. However I disagree the Dark Energy plot was terrible. I had no issue at all with the plot as is.

Speaking of Mac walters anyone know what hes up to? his twitter is dead and has been for sometime His LinkedIn still says he works at Bioware, though, if I were him I'd probably want to take a break from social media after the way some people acted toward ME staffers.

Got it, yeah that does sound dumb but might have been interesting if it had been developed further.

There's half a whiff of a hint about future Mass Effect in this video.
But be warned, it's pretty painful viewing if you stick it out to the end of the video...

OMG those guys are talking about ideas for another ME game and they couldn't even name what race Volus were!!!!!!! Painful was an understatement I was just about ready to headbutt them through the monitor. Anyway thanks for sharing SofaJockey it was at least good to hear that ME isn't "dead" and that it is deemed too valuable to let go of.

I pretty much expect them to revisit making a Mass Effect game, next year after Anthem releases.
Nothing close to guarantee that they'll actually make one.
And then its still at very minimum ~2 years after that before a game releases (more likely 3-4, next-gen, 2022-2023 or so).
So get used to Anthem and cross fingers for Dragon Age, as the likely (depending on who you are) icky or bland taste of Andromeda fades some.

At this point I don't see anything killing a future ME game's chances other than BioWare themselves going under, and even then the IP could just as well pass on to someone else (though I find this scenario seriously not ideal). Only question is where and when they'll set it.

Only question is where and when they'll set it. Personally I want: -follow up to Andromeda, whether more direct (and intentionally redeeming) sequel, or just a general continuance; I don't 'need' Ryder, but I do want to handle the set-up mysteries -at least relatively more Milky Way, up to a reconnection with that galaxy and relationships and revelations from it complicating things (but never enough that a new player is forced to play MET to sufficiently understand) -if its taken this long to get another game out, bring in some things that are very, very new; late deliver on the promise of Andromeda being a new world (but try to stay hinged on the matter of the mass effect) More developed civilized areas. Better animations and more crafted content. If co-op, perhaps explore modes that are more than 4-man horde-with-minor-objectives? Also First Contact War tactics game. Annoyingly mobile design, probably.

So get used to Anthem and cross fingers for Dragon Age, as the likely (depending on who you are) icky or bland taste of Andromeda fades some. It was encouraging to hear though that ME is still an important franchise for them. But the loss of the Montreal studio, and their numbers are down about 1/3 in the Edmonton studio (though they are hiring again, I haven't seen huge numbers in job postings), trying to juggle 3 big franchises (on top of SW in Austin)... it feels like something has to give. Unless BW grow their numbers in a big way, or they're outsourcing tons of work. Mike Gamble said they haven't sat down to decide what to do with the ME franchise yet. So it's really just wait-and-see at the moment. Timeline-wise, Dragon Age will be their next focus, but according Mark they're still deciding what that game will look like. So it's still in Pre-Production, with just a small team on it. I expect they'll shift the bulk of their focus from Anthem over to DA for probably 2-3+ years, while they start Pre-Prod on the next ME, and continue creating live service content for Anthem. An important thing to remember is that the bar for what people expect from a AAA RPG is very high, and keeps getting higher. So let's say DA4 takes 2.5 years of Full Prod. after Anthem wraps up. That puts us in around Fall 2021. Add another 2.5 years for the next ME, and that put us around Spring 2024. And then there's still whatever they decide to do with Anthem...

My preference is to have
- sequel to ME3 with Shepard returning - sequel to ME3 with new characters - trilogy remaster - remake ME3 the way Bioware wanted it to be had they been given enough time. - reboot the trilogy - sequel to MEA with new characters
No matter what I like to have happen, Bioware will do what they want to do to tell the story they want to tell.
If the next da game is released late 2020, its possible the next ME game could be released spring 2022. Time will tell.

I much prefer what we got. Plus none of that suggests they didn’t like the final product.
