To everyone claiming Kingdom Come is not historically accurate due to the protagonist being a peasant boy, tell me something. How did the Nobles become Noble in the first place hm? The first member of a Noble Family to rise to the ranks of Nobility, what do you think they were? I'll tell you what they weren't, Nobles. They were lesser people who did something remarkable, that earned them Nobility as a reward. Well, it was more typical for the earliest nobles to be members of a Frankish war band who kicked out the Roman overlords and enserfed the Roman underclass -- or rather, kept the late Roman social structure working pretty much the way it was and slotted themselves in at the top. (Or Vikings, etc., depending on the place. Normans did it twice; once in Normandy and once in England.) That is correct, however, a lot of Noble families were not just magically Noble out of thin air. Nobles had genealogies that would go down the family line to "prove" who they are related to, and why those special people were important. Noble families often started from a nobody being thrust into a remarkable situation and somehow accomplishing something considered impossible for their Station. Even the war bands mentioned here, were not just born Noble, they made themselves Noble by doing something significant. Knighting is a real system, that is in fact still used today, admittedly for far less heroic things. For example Patrick Stewart is now a Noble, but was not born as one. Does Hollywood play up the Knighting thing too much? of course, it plays up everything too much. But the fact remains, I will not allow an argument about Kingdom Come being "historically inaccurate because the character is a peasant" to go unchallenged, because that's ridiculous. I mean for goodness sake, Liu Bang, the Founder of the Han Dynasty and Emperor of China, was born a Peasant. Edit: I hope with that cleared up, the people who made these inaccurate assertions about Kingdom Come will realize their mistake, and not insinuate anyone who defends Kingdom Come or historical accuracy in games to be unpleasant people, and will rethink their knee-jerk assumptions in the future. Have a lovely day.

Diversity is not really a matter of outward characteristics or even one or two specific factors. An entire cast of white males can be just as diverse as a cast of every single racial gender combinations out there, perhaps even more so.

I see that Jade decided to delete her user. Can't say I'm happy about that. That was a cause of consternation and disappointment for me when I noticed. I never intended to drive her away, and despite our strong disagreements I tried to keep the debate non-personal. Like Jade, all I'm doing is trying to advocate for aspects of video games which I value highly, in my case: immersion, consistency, depth, etc. I do think that this forum (for example) is valuable precisely because it isn't an echo-chamber for one particular opinion, as the various responses on this thread can prove beyond doubt, which is precisely why I find it undesirable to see her leaving because of a debate we had. I won't apologize for my opinions, but I will say that I never meant to offend her personally. having read your entire debate, I personally see nothing offensive on your end. In my brutally honest opinion, it was a debate with someone who refused to be receptive to any train of thought and perhaps political ideals that was not their own.

RIP Jade Dreamer It happens on forums. People decide to leave for any number of reasons and new people arrive to compensate. Forums that concentrate on a few old members quickly become echo chambers. If you don't have that constant influx of new people then the forum be la-doomed. It's the way of things but I'm sad to see her go

A valued member of our community. As for this thread, I think for many pages it has been an argument echo-chamber dominated by fewer posters, and whilst that is hardly against our rules, it was doing nothing to further the discussion of the OP, nor avoiding going round in the usual circles. And for that reason, we're done here. If anyone bumps into Jade Dreamer elsewhere on the internet, they remain welcome here.
