If they bring back Trials in DA4, how about a hardcore mode that makes campsites essential? Not only do we need to set up camps for influence, but we'll need to periodically rest to remove fatigue (like in Baldur's Gate) and restore our combat effectiveness. Maybe even the option to disable normal saving (outside of campsites) on this mode, or the option to retain autosaving progress/checkpoints for players who want a challenge, but would prefer not to rage-quit the game entirely?

Please for the love of God make it so party banter isn’t skipped because some random person decides to tell me something. I swear, almost every time I go to a camp, one of my companions start saying something, only for the requisitions officer to interrupt. Party Banter is one of the reasons I love these games so it’s damned annoying. Last playthrough I took to standing dead still a few feet from camp to hear the banter. It mostly worked but there were still a few interruptions, sometimes by merely running through an invisible trigger somewhere in the world, so I'd tab out and google the first line of the conversation. Every time some kind soul had uploaded the very thing I missed on Youtube. Problem is, it happens whenever I Quick Travel to a camp or have just switched out one or more party members, so there’s really not much I can do to prevent it . Honestly, I'd rather all classes be versatile enough for any situation, rather than being forced to run an artificially "balanced" party. If I want to run a group of nothing but one or two classes, I should be able to. Any encounters, whether combat or environmental obstacles, that require a specific character or class to solve strikes me lazy design. From a role playing standpoint, I hate it when the writers force you to recruit characters you and/or your PC might not like, as if they can't stand the thought that someone won't see their work even once . In DA:I at least, the default three companions all have their own class, so you won’t miss out on anything by not recruiting anyone? Worst case you are forced to use someone you dislike, but since you can’t get rid of them regardless, I see no reason to feel obligated to recruit somebody else you dislike just because you need their particular class skills .

I swear, almost every time I go to a camp, one of my companions start saying something, only for the requisitions officer to interrupt. Party Banter is one of the reasons I love these games so it’s damned annoying. This is commonly brought up internally as well Bit of a side-note - are there any opinions (that we can know of) on the existence of an optional banter button? The Cheat Engine banter trigger is the closest we get to such button and, as imperfect as it is, I really enjoy the fact that I have some level of control over when the banter is firing, which also helps me (mostly) avoid situations when I'm waiting for my companions to say something, only for it to be interrupted. I'm aware that such button would immediately create a problem of frontloading all recorded banter in first hours of the game ...but then again even standing in a safe spot and using Cheat Engine for days can't really trigger banter that is locked behind quest progression or approval level or when it's tied to specific locations. And in situations when I've reached the end of recorded lines for a specific group composition it encouraged me to switch them around and try some configurations I use less commonly. Naturally, it's an entirely subjective personal experience and preference and I realize it's probably one among many superior options considered on a daily basis, but I can't help to be curious so I hope you don't mind me asking.

In game suggestion: Geralt GPS from Witcher 3. You click on a quest, it gives you the best path for that quest. OMG YES. The thing I most hate about open world games is trying to figure out how to get somewhere rather than actually playing the game. Too often a quest is at the top of a mountain and I end up having to track around in order to find the way up (More often than not, it might not even look like a trail). I have to confess, stuff like this is why it took 2 years before I finally discovered there was another path around the mountain in Skyrim.
In my defense, there isn't much of a reason to return to near Helgen after the opening of the game and few quests ever take you near there, so I never really got around to exploring the area much. But having found at least one path that lead to an invisible wall, I figured that the path beyond the Stormcloak camp was another dead-end.

At least Skyrim gives you a horse that doesn't care about vertical surfaces .

I wouldn't personally be involved with solutions to something like this BUT I can say that in terms of general design, it would be better to solve a problem, such as being interrupted and losing the banter, than it would be to just allow a User to circumvent the problem in some way.

Just want to comment that I understand the Trespasser glowing banter orbs were a band-aid to ensure players wouldn't miss the Trespasser banter. However, I found "click here to get banter" pretty immersion breaking. On the other hand, I never had banter issues, so I guess I have the luxury of saying that.

For me it was more the feeling that they were missable. When you don’t know/see the triggers, you don’t think about whether you missed one or not because it’s just something that happens. When there’s an activatable trigger, it becomes like a collectable item. Now you need to think about whether you want to collect them all or risk missing out on stuff.

If I was fortunate enough to even get a banter, it was often interrupted by something or other. Usually bears, if I recall. That cheat engine banter trigger (or the Trespasser orb) was a lifesaver for me.

Playing DAI last night and I was reminded of something when my fiancee was trying to help me edit a novel and was asking my input on things during the middle of a cutscene. Now this is probably my number one most important feature out of everything I have suggested. I would love the ability to pause during cutscenes. Might wreak havoc when I am trying to record video but its annoying enough for a game that I have played 6 times now to get those cutscenes interrupted it'd be painful when DA 4 comes out, excrutiating even.

Its even worse when she actively starts mocking what is happening in the cutscene like when Ryder was dying in Andromeda on the Archon's ship or when Gaspard was doing...something...in Wicked Eyes Wicked Hearts. It can really ruin immersion.

Makes me think once of the 'less is more' approach, DA:O & DA2 had smaller maps & locations on those maps where banter would trigger, all you'd need to do would be to cross that point on the map & there you have it. This was lost with the larger maps pf DA:I & instead we got the timer & which was a pain, or the banter bug & not to mention, certain maps no banter would trigger at all.
So why not go back to smaller maps with hidden triggers you just have to cross? Or something like that?
Just my thoughts.

Yep, it depends on the maps. DA2 was mostlty in Kirkwall during the day, where there was no fighting. Nothing at night, when you'd get jumped by the armies of ninja. You had banters on the Wounded Coast and Sundermount, the triggers points were often at points with no a lot of fighting.Although it could get interrupted.
Not sure there is a good solution with maps like DAI, it takes a while to move around and fight things, and you can often get interrupted. If the banters even trigger with the 15 minutes timer. I guess going back to trigger points might do it, but with more open maps, you'd need passages/path where players need to pass through and a bit distant from fighting. Might be too much of a pain when designing maps ? I'm all for Bioware going back to less "open" maps, I enjoyed exploration in some games, but I didn't feel like DAI got the exploration part down, as in exploration is really fun when you stumble on cool things by accidents. Like a small quests hub/villages or a cool mini dungeon...
But then again I'd prefer if DA4 was mostly in Minrathrous, and a couple of wildnerness maps/ruins. I'm still sad about Val Royeaux and Orlais stuck in the middle of nowhere the game.

Watched a video last night on the new skyrim handheld phone game and started thinking about da4
Blocking terrain-to get through the passage the hero cuts through the vine. Doesn’t really exist in da games (secret door and made Gisli blocks) require a mage 9/10. Not usually a natural terrain
The spider blocks part of the attack by using its hard back and crouching down. Most combat in da games involves hacking through a tough hide and there’s no real back and forth
Also I believe low level spells/abilities such as the ones you get in the beginning of game should refresh much faster than they do now

Just thought of this after posting in the Twitter thread...maybe it's already been mentioned?
A way to break off a locked-in romance due to reasons. I was reminded that you can't break up with Cass once locked in, so even if you are an elf and feel insulted by her "nonsense" remark at the Temple of Mythal, you are stuck by that point with no way to show offense or otherwise end the relationship. It seems like later events might reveal something about your romance that you certainly would have considered as make-or-break had you known about it beforehand. Being stuck later on seems kinda cheap. The Cass situation is especially vexing since you can pretty much break up with everyone else...hmm, maybe not Cullen? But Dorian (anytime), Blackwall (judgment), Sera (after Mythal), Bull (anytime), Solas (after Mythal, before he dumps you). Not sure about Josephine?

I'd like an Ambient Only option on subtitles.
I usually want subtitles on when I'm just wandering around because sometimes other sounds make it hard for me to hear everything being said. But I don't like having subtitles on during cinematics where I can hear the dialogue fine and the text just distracts me from looking at the scene. Most games only have subtitles on or off (or occasionally Cinematic Only) forcing me to choose between not having subtitles where I want them and having them where I don't.
