👆This. It was super annoying having to track down the stuff you needed. Hell, most of time I spent playing DAI was hunting down the stuff needed to build the best weapons and armour. My hubs is like you, and last two play sessions have been jumping through the hoops to be able to get herbs to make tonics to kill dragons to get Dragon Leather to make Armor. I get they should make the Cost match how narratively difficult it would be to procure these things, but the fact that we have to Open Crestwood and Finish a quest just to get access to a merchant who will sell us some Rashvine so we can make a Fire Resistance Tonic so we can fight the Dragon we actually wanted to fight is very frustrating. They should have the stuff spawn into stores at a certain level (like levels from 18 to 25).

An addendum to my already huge list, but I love having armors from different cultures and I would like to see more of that. The Avvar and Qunari armors in DAI, the Legion of the Dead armor in DAO and DAI, various Dalish Keeper robes, Ancient Elven armor set from DAO... very cool. Looking forward to more Qunari stuff and hopefully some Seheron/Fog Warrior stuff in DA4. Also would love to see a huge variety of spooky Tevinter robes because it soothes my inner goth. Though.... moment of despair for the WTF that was DAO's Tevinter garb: At least these were marginally better:

Level 18, you can just walk up to the walls in Emprise Du Lion (lvl 16 place) and pick it by hand and have maybe killed 2 or so dragons by then.

I guess I'm one of the few people who liked DA2's personalized armors, as they made the characters feel more unique. I do understand why some found that system too restrictive, however. My preference would be a hybrid, where each Companion has personalized armor sets (standard, casual wear, formal/ceremonial, heavy war/exploration, stealth/incognito), or players could outfit with any other set. The unique personalized sets would be restricted to their respective characters, but you could craft reasonable copies with different colors and/or stats if players wished.

DA: I allowed the best of both worlds. Variety in looks plus "in-character design" choices. The only thing they could do to make it better is add one or two additional "looks" per person, just for variety. Very much this. I also liked how there were certain designs that did look consistent across all companions, in case a "uniform" look was desired; it fit Inquisition pretty well, though I don't want that sort of PC/companions relationship in DA4, so not sure how necessary it'd be for that. I do hope they also manage to detach appearance somewhat from utility. I understand that they wanted to avoid pay-to-win, but it sucked that all the DLC crafting schematics were generally a fair bit behind the curve in terms of usefulness.

Another thing that occured to me: More choices that raise the stakes and have a 'ticking bomb'...maybe not an actual ticking bomb or time limit like in some games but something to make the player feel tense about their choices. Best example the choice with Ann Bryson in Leviathan or with Aria and Nyreen in Omega and having what's his face taunting you the entire time (hey its been a while)

I would have peed myself if we got to meet Shokrakar! Instead this legend is restricted to the war table. WHHHYYYY. 😭 Even just a small quest where Inquisitor Adaar rescues the Valo-Kas, or Lavellan runs into their clan, maybe speaks to their Keeper... it would've added so much. The Inquisitor (to me) doesn't feel connected to their life outside of the Inquisition. It bothers me. They should have had characters related to our background show up in Skyhold, so they were the ones to give us the war table missions (like Krem or Sutherland).
We could have had Shokrakar show up for Adaar (perhaps the Chargers and Valo-kas become rivals/frenemies), Lantos for Cadash (if only to hide from the Dasher), "Phillam! A Bard!" for Trevelyan (as they're distant cousins) and another member of Lavellan's clan (so at least someone else survives if you choose poorly).
The companions could have had comments about them as well, much like the various trainers. Bull and Sera both are tripping over themselves around Shokrakar, Blackwall has struck up a friendship with Lantos, Solas shared some painting tips with Lavellan's clan mate and Varric has been badgering everyone for dirt stories about the Inquisitor.
Also if we recruited the Wardens, how great would it have been to have Sigrun as the one giving us Warden-related war table missions?

I would like to play as one of the characters from the previous DA games. In the character creator, under presets, the player can choose their character to look like Loghain, Meredith, Lloyd, Orsino, Oghren, Gamlen, Corypheus, The First, and so on. These presets cannot be altered.

Even with Solas as the antagonist, I still hope we'll get some new Qunari lore or dwarven lore.
Mostly because I want my next heroes to be of those races and I want that choice to be fitting somehow.

Wouldn't if be funny if "those across the seas" (war table missions) are the original kossith . . . . . . not a special racial moment like dwarves hearing lyrium or elves seeing colors in the Crossroads but still . . .

They should have the stuff spawn into stores at a certain level (like levels from 18 to 25) Apparently they already do this in DAI: "Tier 2 materials are unlocked at level 8, tier 3 at level 16, and tier 4 at level 18." ~ Wikia

The Black Emporium, for one. That's where I get all my goods from. Oh, right. But I meant which other stores in the main game. Edit: And that also let you buy as much as you need and not a size limit.

I'd love a full and complete exploration of Tevinter in every aspect. Political, social, scenery etc...
Tevinter has so much potential. We never had real portrayal of Byzantium in visual entertainment, apart from unimpressive cameos in some movies that took place near Byzantium geographically.
I know this is fantasy and Tevinter is loosely based on Byzantium (with them representing Roman Empire in their peak and Byzantium in their twilight years, which is now basically) but it still means there is so much potential. It still represents a lot of issues the Byzantines faced and what Tevinter also faces. Three great related examples would be:
1. The Frankish kingdom being claimed Holy Roman Emperor which is not that different than Orlais getting a similar title, effectively sweeping aside Roman authority. Tevinter is no longer the center of humanity, Orlais is.
2. The great Christian schism. Tevinter's branch of Andrastianism will be very interesting to explore. Which I think represents a more Roman approach to religion. Focusing on theory and philosophy rather than direct intervention (Like Andraste being bride of the maker, which is the southern belief).
3. How will they survive against a technologically superior enemy (Gunpowder specifically) after losing Seheron to them. Minrathous is in many ways the Thedas equivalent of "city of world's desire". It is where Humanity started and it never fell, as in it stood tall against entire South, Qunari and Darkspawn but the city never fell, despite entire country being ravaged.
There are of course tons of other aspects that are unique to fantasy, like the magic. Specially magic. I really want every corner of Minrathous to be there to be explored. Like the entire city be the location of its own with quests and fights and so on. We have been hyped about it in three games in a row and I hope the disappointments in DA4 will be minimum regarding the result of said hype.

I'm hoping we'll get to explore at least some of Minrathous. Maybe 3-5 districts, depending on the size? But as a city of 1,000,000 people, I get we wouldn't be able to see everything.

I'd like the hide helmet option to be individual to party member (like me1) instead of an all on/all off setup. In DAI I wanted keep Vivienne and Coles hats visisble but didn't want to see the terrible hat my character had looted, but I could only show all helmets or show none, so I had to choose.

The hardening and softening of companions is weird. With Alistair, it was a bit more mild (having more confidence in going after something you want), but it was over the top with Leliana in both cases because "murdering is okay" is a very strong moral to be pushed about and shouldn't be an option.
I also disliked Cassandra getting drunk because we didn't turn out to be who she wanted. I think she's stronger than that and characters shouldn't self destruct just because we play jerk characters.

So combat: Here's what I want. Two them to distel the classes down to two. As much as I'd love them to go classless I don't think the lore would support that with the mage issue. So have 'mages' and 'non mages'. For the player character favorites from Andromeda will be incorporated, three to four different groupins of powers 6-8 each. These powers will be faciliated by a lot of the magical abilities from DAO and DA 2 returning allowing us to create and utilize these favorites.
