I'd love a full and complete exploration of Tevinter in every aspect. Political, social, scenery etc... Tevinter has so much potential. We never had real portrayal of Byzantium in visual entertainment, apart from unimpressive cameos in some movies that took place near Byzantium geographically. I know this is fantasy and Tevinter is loosely based on Byzantium (with them representing Roman Empire in their peak and Byzantium in their twilight years, which is now basically) but it still means there is so much potential. It still represents a lot of issues the Byzantines faced and what Tevinter also faces. Three great related examples would be: 1. The Frankish kingdom being claimed Holy Roman Emperor which is not that different than Orlais getting a similar title, effectively sweeping aside Roman authority. Tevinter is no longer the center of humanity, Orlais is. 2. The great Christian schism. Tevinter's branch of Andrastianism will be very interesting to explore. Which I think represents a more Roman approach to religion. Focusing on theory and philosophy rather than direct intervention (Like Andraste being bride of the maker, which is the southern belief). 3. How will they survive against a technologically superior enemy (Gunpowder specifically) after losing Seheron to them. Minrathous is in many ways the Thedas equivalent of "city of world's desire". It is where Humanity started and it never fell, as in it stood tall against entire South, Qunari and Darkspawn but the city never fell, despite entire country being ravaged. There are of course tons of other aspects that are unique to fantasy, like the magic. Specially magic. I really want every corner of Minrathous to be there to be explored. Like the entire city be the location of its own with quests and fights and so on. We have been hyped about it in three games in a row and I hope the disappointments in DA4 will be minimum regarding the result of said hype. I'm also hoping we'll get a chance to deep-dive into Tevinter, and how life differs between the wildnerness, the rural areas, the smaller towns, and at least one major city.
I'm hoping we'll get to explore at least some of Minrathous. Maybe 3-5 districts, depending on the size? But as a city of 1,000,000 people, I get we wouldn't be able to see everything.
Bioware can always do with Minrathous what they did with Kirkwall in DA2 and make each district its own area. That would be the best approach, the way I see it. However, as long as we get to see the Juggernaut golems and as long as they don't make Val Royeaux: Tevinter Edition, I'm fine with whatever.

Personally, I won't be satisfied if they don't combine the Kirkwall approach with the Inquisition-open-area approach. Give me urban Hinterlands or give me...another game, I guess.

Other than going inside a structure, nothing should have a loading screen. With the technology of today, everything should be open world. Maybe. I feel two ways about it. Do I really need endless wildnerness with nothing but feral mabari in it to kill (or to try to run me off my horse) to make me feel more immersed? Traversing all this distance is itself another loading screen. I tried to put my AC Odyssey horse on self drive for it to take me to another place on the other side of the continent so I could take a quick bathroom break only to come back and find a random bear had knocked me off my horse and killed me. The many minutes running my horse at full speed over empty countryside is as much of a time waster as a loading screen. Hum, may even prefer the latter in this scenario-- loading screens don't usually lead to auto battle and death if I walk away.

Like Lothering had some outside the village. It'd be nice to see a city from a distance and walk up to it and appreciate it's size.

I enjoyed Origins just fine and "streamlining" things any further than it currently is will not improve things. I don't hate Andromeda, but I see nothing in it I want to replicate over to Dragon Age except for the improved hair textures.

At least on the console because I've never had acess to anymore then eight abilities at a time. With Origins it was six. I know PC had more but in the end that was probably to the net determent of the game, especially the console version. And then Inquisition only had eight abilities too so its an expansion on that as well.

... What? I totally used the Toggle Circle of abilities all of the time on the PS3. In a game where pause is built into combat, I encourage the return of such a toggle circle menu so we can have access to ALL the abilities we bothered spending points on.

I honestly think the game needs to have some action. The auto attack and other lazy designs should stay in MMOs, where you are not alone and won't get bored to death during combat, specially on higher difficulties where enemies have more health so it becomes a slug.
Personally I think combat and UI is the only thing DA2 did right as a sequel. Maybe the combat had too much action, but its better than too little. So that can be fixed The animations were also gorgeous for their time. Both a step up from DAO. I think the combat in DAI was fine but it had clear flaws. Like not being able to control the AI like you could in previous games or having too little ability slots.
I can't speak on the class issue. I think specializations are things that gave the highest enjoyment in combat, not the classes themselves. Well at least not as much. The mage is distinctively different than rogue and warrior, but the difference between rogue and warrior are mainly related to what specs they can have.
So I say we should end the tradition of having 3 specs only, and go back to DAO's model on that one. I think we need at least 5 for each class.

Well A. I generally prefer not pausing, especiay with the clunky interfaces we have been given...if they can figure those out then maybe. B. However the other part of my idea...which I know I didn't post, was that there should be a tac cam which gives you access to everything. Even then we are talking at the minimum 18 powers, thats a lot. Maybe even too many.

Yeah, I don't really see any way around it unless their plan is to focus on a relatively small area in Tevinter. If BW plans to include any 2 (or more) notable locations in the north - like Minrathous, Ventus, Seheron, The Hundred Pillars, Arlathan Forest, The White Spire, Kal Sharok, Weishaupt, the Silent Plains... you're gonna need loading screens.

I guess I'm the only one who doesn't hate loading screens. I'm so used to them that I never even think of them. Maybe it's because I'm dumb about tech. Or my PS3 is slooooow. But seriously, on my slower computer when I first played DAI, I literally brought up my phone for this discussion board and even had time to post a quick reply or two while enduring those loading screens. But endless landscape of trees and rocks while my horse animation goes at full speed--- how is this not a weird interactive loading screen if I have no interest in what's going on?

colfoleySo again, I love the Tactical Cam is Also the toggle circle screen option. you said "maybe too many" but mana and stamina would still be the restricting component here. I don't think it makes narrative sense that my Fire specced mage doesn't know how to throw fire anymore because I respecced into electrical. They should all be there, and if they feel like that's OP, they could make mana/stamina costs higher. Or maybe the ones you aren't currently specced in could have a higher mana/stamina cost because "you haven't done it in a while". So Button Slots (the 6-8 we've been dealing with) would be cheaper to perform than anything that isn't in those slots. And because this is battle mechanics applications and organization I'm tagging LukeBarrett

I also disliked Cassandra getting drunk because we didn't turn out to be who she wanted. I think she's stronger than that and characters shouldn't self destruct just because we play jerk characters. Bah, I got that scene without playing a jerk character thanks to the double disapproval trial turned on. So, basically just because I didn't worship her Maker, she ended up drunk on the floor commiserating what a terrible mistake she'd made supporting me, whereas 5 minutes before she was singing my praises to the Skyhold faithful when naming me Inquisitor. It was beyond stupid, and made Cass come off like a huge hypocrite.
Hmm, maybe seeing that scene is what started me down the road of liking her less and less.

DAI loading screens are ridiculously slow, not just area-wise, but also just getting the game to start or loading a save. MEA was much better in that regard, so hopefully the more they deal with Frostbite, the better they can optimize stuff like that.

I wouldn't mind if there was music playing while the game loads. Play some Ozzy, Van Halen, Led Zep or even Metallica. I'd be ok with that.
Or what about having a loading screen while the companions talk to each other? Something similar to the squadmates talking to each other in the elevator in ME1.

Hmm, maybe seeing that scene is what started me down the road of liking her less and less. Never got that scene. Part of the reason I knee jerk disliked Viv my first game is how mean she was to Cole. Well..everybody but especially Cole. And Morrigan always called Alistair stupid and stuff but I found that funny and like childish bickering. ' What got me started was talking to Cassandra you can ask for general advice. And she always advises to get rid of Dorian, Sera, and Cole. All the "different" people and all of my favorite people. I don't think this dialogue ever changes to include Thom Rainer post reveal, but that may just be a limitation of dialogue. She never advises to get rid of Viv even though she's a total -- *ahem* brat who is just generally difficult to get along with. Personality wise, I don't think she's much of a team player. Probably because she's a wittle Circle abiding mage, unlike Dorian. This opened a window into "she's uh... a bit close minded." Her dream of the Chantry sounded sensible, yet at the same time, it was really just maintaining the status quo. But I still wanted to try romancing her-- and ToM commentary absolutely destroyed her for me.

Firmly in the stamina camp because then I get access to all the things, I just have to decide carefully whats the best bang for my buck at that moment in that scenario. All this regearing and respeccing before every different kind of fight is WORK.
