I am about 14 or 15 hours into a 2nd PT. Actually enjoying it everso slightly more this time around, as I'm more comfortable with the combat. It still ranks below the three DA games and KOTOR from Bioware for me, but is "not bad". Am mostly playing to kill time until I can grab a 2080Ti and play Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Assassins Creed Odyssey.

With the ability to use any combination of powers, weapons, and armor, it easily offers the most variety. That’s what makes it fun for me and my playthrough count is in the double digits.

It is in DAI and the trilogy. I don’t recall any story variety in the trilogy other than in ME3 but that was the culmination of hundreds of variables from the first 2 games. Even still, the choices were A or B with very little effect, if any, on the other mission.

Even still, the choices were A or B with very little effect, if any, effect on the other mission. Well there is the choice of how you upgrade your powers as like MEA you have 2 choices once you get to rank 4 onwards in ME2 and 3. Plus you have a choice as to whether you want to go Paragon/Renegade or even neutral in some cases. Also like in MEA what upgrades you have on weapons and armour. But whilst the story flexibility may not be great the ewapons and armour and as you asid the sheer number of power combinations you can pick from for me kind of make up for it. Also the fact you can run with such a wide variety of power combo's makes the mixed classes such as Sentinel and Vanguard even more fun. Whereas at times inthe trilogy as good as the sentinel is at being a jack of all trades and have good shielding thanks to the tech armour it could be boring. Mostly thanks to the biotic powers not being that wonderful. Also whilst I love the Biotic Charge I always feel a bit vulnerable using it sometimes in the trilogy especially in ME2 as you don't have the Nova combo to go with it. MEA handles things like this a lot better in my opinion especially as you can go for upgrades like a 10% shield boost everytime you land a kill with a biotic power and stuff like that.

For me the story variety is more of exploring the side missions and their stories which expanded the lore/main story parts a lot, especially Angaran backgrounds. Going for 3rd PT when I have time to do so, but it seems it'll go to next year

For me only having 3 active powers is far more limiting than having a set list with one bonus power. I can make thousands of 1/2 classes instead of dozens of full classes. I'd rather have dozens of full classes.

Yeah I agree but it does help keep thing fresh I feel so it's not all bad. I too prefer the tactical approach the trilogy took but I think the yonly limited the powers to compensate for the moer action based combat that MEA has .So for me limiting our powers to 3 was probably a good compromise for the more active approach as I doubt I could have handled more without the tactical pause function.

I mostly stopped using the pause in Mass Effect, if I take a break for the games when I come ack I use it for a bit. But mostly I'm so used to using 8 buttons in a active gameplay the 3 felt super limiting. My normal play in Me 3 is pull, throw, singularity, warp, shockwave, bonus power, squad power, squad power and I pretty much almost never pause. I'd rather eat it and play that area again then pause to save myself.

Well for me because of my disability because it means I only really have 1 hand on the controls so I kind of have to use it to fire my powers off accurately enough thankfully with MEA the powers generally auto target so it's not a problem for me there. I don't find that to be the case with the trilogy which is why I use the pause to aim feature

All 4 use 1 of the special edition Pathfinder guns as their main weapon. I wanted to create a chargeless Vanguard (Heresy, I know). My Vanguard uses the Pathfinder Ranger smg pistol and I wanted the main 3 powers to be Annihilation, Turbocharge, and Backlash. Because Annihilation has a bug where melee kills deactivates it (maybe it’s intentional, I don’t know), I had to change it up and substitute Lance in its place. The Lance is a shield killer and a Turbocharged Ranger takes out big baddies like Fiends. I activate Backlash and walk up to whatever goon that needs to die and melee kill with the Kett Carfon (sp?). It’s a different way of charging into battle and I find it really fun.

Trust me, he needs it way more than the Vanguard Sara because the Pathfinder Deep Impact shotgun is terrible. Charge helps make it more viable. The Backlash Vanguard Sara wrecks sh*t easily and it’s pretty badass to just walk up to a foe behind my shield and slice it. It’s funny watching them help me kill them too as they helplessly shoot at me only to have it reflect back at them. Especially Anointeds with their Sonad gun or Observers and their lasers.

Nice been thinking of trying to work Backlash into a build haven't done it yet although I have used it as a secondary power but mostly as a shield if I run out of ammo or something. But I kind of like the idea of using it to turn the enemies weapons against them. It's just tryin to come up with a build that would work for me and my type of playstyle.

It’s funny watching them help me kill them too as they helplessly shoot at me only to have it reflect back at them. Especially Anointeds and their Sonad cannons or Observers and their lasers. Eh... i'm sure But My marksman vanguard takes the cake for me Three shots from afar taking down three enemies with headshots to make them panic Immediately charge in the middle of their ranks, nova them, shockwave on the survivors, pick them off in the air with headshots from the crusader if they are still alive. Each enemy that falls is a 25% shield recovery from one of the mods, cool down for Charge is less time than any animation following it. Asari sword allows invincibility flash steps each time it is swung. Also...those promo weapons are awful

The Explorer Scott has Charge. Especially Anointeds and their Sonad cannons or Observers and their lasers.
